What’s so difficult at least for me… is that the music of 70s 80s was just so good… will never be duplicated… Most of us knew where we were when music of this era was played..cars we drove, jobs we had, places we parked….girlfriends… we had no idea at the time that we would grow into adults and eventually become old and wore out. But what and era, throw in 60s….what a great time to grow up… Those days have long passed. To everyone listening pass the music along to the next generation.. They will be glad you did!!! Peace✌🏻
I'm 23 but I feel like in my past life l lived during the 60s-80s and died at a young. Absolutely in love with this era's music. Always have been and always will be.
Agreed. Listening and watching these songs takes you back a time that you thought would never end and now as your own kids are in there 20-30's you realise how lucky we were to live in the 80's and all it had to offer. Amazing songs.
It takes me back whenever this song came on the radio, my parents would tell us kids that this is what music was really like. It's been thirteen years since the passing of my mom and four years without my dad, but having access to music like this helps me keep their memory alive. Cheers everyone out there and I hope that you're having a beautiful day.

The movies of the '80s were absolutely magical in the way they could effortlessly marry a perfect new pop song to the story of the movie. Arthur, Ghostbusters, Back to the Future, An Officer and a Gentleman, Fame, Footloose, Dirty Dancing, Mannequin, Top Gun, Goonies, the list goes on and on. This has truly become a lost art.

Chris, I was 7 years old, when I saw this in the theater with my Mom, in NYC 1981. The song was and still is a CLASSIC. My Mom saw the filming of the scene in front of Bergdorf Goodman, while she was on the bus, going to work, early in the morning. Being a New Yorker, the film and the song resonated even more. Thanks for the magic.
I was 8 years old when this was released in 1981. Now it’s 2023 and I’m 50 years old, and this song is still one of my favorites and it takes me back in time.

Hey you,yes you, random person that I will never meet. I want to let you know that you are loved and deserving of everything! Today will be a great day!!!❤️❤️
I just finished watching (probably for the 10th time) the song writers winning the Oscar for this song. I don't believe it would have won the Academy Award without the voice of Cristopher Cross and the echo effect they used. The movie was very entertaining. The co-composers/lyricists were the right combination. Sometimes all the elements come together is a very fortuitous way.
The song talks about the feeling of freedom and escapism that sailing provides. The lyrical self finds peace and serenity at sea, where he can dream and free himself from the worries of everyday life. The lyrics suggest that the sail is a metaphor for the journey of life, where the wind represents the opportunities and challenges we encounter along the way.
This song is 7 years older than me...and yet, it's probably my favorite song of all-time. I had the privilege of seeing Christopher Cross perform it live back in 2021, and I'll never forget it.
A nostalgic work from over 40 years ago, the melody music is beautiful, the singing voice is pure and highly transparent, and it is wonderful to listen to it and get goosebumps.
Yeah, no doubt!...eu pude viver na realidade quase que tudo que ele fala, em NYC, mesmo não tendo o dinheiro do Arthur ...eu tinha só 19 anos em 1988 quando cheguei sem ninguem em NYC.
I went to New York on a vacation from Scotland in 2017 and this song was never a big deal to me until I seen it in the flesh. Best city on earth and amazing song. New York is where the angels are
I love to unexpectedly play random songs without context for my girlfriend, and tonight (while laying in bed), Arthur's Theme happened. She smiled, laughed, and kept repeating "I love you so freakin' much!". I found a good one.
A beautiful song that was so representative of a time when America was truly the beacon for the rest of the world. People were noble and honourable back then.

i am now 55 years old and this time machine turns back the clock during my high school life... i miss my 1980's 1990's thanks youtube you are our time machine... love the song until now.. i watched you live singing in front of us.. thank you...
I'd be honored if some Christopher Cross fans would take a listen to my acoustic piano & vocal interpretation of THE BEST THAT YOU CAN DO on my YT in tribute to the great Burt Bacharach. Live with no autotune. Peace & stay safe in the '020s.
Remember when i was about 12 my brother brought a CD of Christopher Cross from the US, i loved this guy´s music, simply amazing.
Hey you,yes you, random person that I will never meet. I want to let you know that you are loved and deserving of everything! Today will be a great day!!!❤️❤️

Not me. There was no TH-cam in the 80s.
70's for me
@@WallsendChook
Yeah, I was born in the late 70’s 😅🥰
I was born in late 1959. 60's & 70's were simple times.
@@mikela9
Yeah!🥰
I can't help but cry now.
Fujii Kaze sang this during his concert in NY! I'm falling in love with this song more, it's like, it's nice to be in love in New York. 🤭😍🥰
I wish i could relive the 80s ❤

FOR REAL. OH YES !!!
Vamos todos reviver.🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
예전 들었던 노래 지금. 들어도 좋네요❤❤❤
Wages of stress is death not wages of sins is death. Music helps with stress. I believe access to music should be free to all
Someday. My wedding song.
Never gets old. One of the finest pop song/soundtrack ever composed.
I was stuck in northern Mexico, in 1981. I listen to this song almost every day on local radio. I will never forget it. It still haunts me
I was just talking to my older son God bless him keep him safe so much is going on in these days our father God keep us with u at all times ❤❤
언제 들어도
명곡 입니다~👍👍
Christopher Cross is one of my favorite singers. I love his music.
This song is my father's favorite that's why he named me Arthur ❤
Mais alguém ouvindo em abril de 2024?
eu, agora mesmo 27/06/2024
Enquanto eu viver 😢
JUNHO 2024🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉😂😂😂😂
Fenomeno assoluto.
Verdade!
Here after watching Percy Jackson, this song definitely fit with the ending credits watching all the drawings ❤️
me too
IT REALLY DOES !!
What is the title of that movie please❤❤❤

I went to New York on a vacation from Scotland in 2017 and this song was never a big deal to me until I seen it in the flesh. Best city on earth and amazing song. New York is where the angels are
Fujii kazeくん🎵 コンサートでカバーしてくれました💘とても素敵な名曲です
Fujii kaze is suck .
I was 70 years old when this song hit the charts in 1981. At 112 I'm feeling like I did when I was a youngster!
Wow...how come you aged 112 y.o and still able to write on the phone..
@@arifyulianto6318 I don't know. I can still shit on my own too.
You are one in million sir, my salute for you ..
Really 😅
you were 70 and idiots are taking you serious.
Some songs are timeless. This and “Sailing” are two. Brilliant!!!
I wouldn't glorify the past if I were you. We may be living in unsettling times, but it's better now than back then
@@TikiDragon1If you say so
@@TikiDragon1 There was good and there was bad, but the noble qualities of yesteryear aren't seen anywhere in the mainstream now.
He has one of the most beautiful voices ever. This and sailing get right down into every fiber of your being.
