I listened to this song every night for 6 nights, on a Pandora jazz station I created, as I sat with my father in a hospice house while he slowly died. Many other songs played, including Sting's 'Pirate's Bride'. All are now forever changed by this experience. Dad passed the morning of 12/9/2024, his hands in mine. I love you Dad.
When I come home from a hard working day there is just no artist who can make me calm and relaxed like Sting. His music is simply calming and his lyrics are magic. What a trip through time he has had and it is distinct in his songs and lyrics. Great musician!

I met my now wife back in late 2005, while we were both single travellers, meeting briefly , by chance , on a trip to Jordan, and walking Petra on Christmas Day... We eventually got together, and have since travelled the world, to more than 100 countries since... Our retirement has been a blast, influenced by my many years of guitar playing and singing. Always been a Sting fan, but more so as when my wife and I had some difficult years before getting together before I retired, a close friend gave us this song as 'our song' and it has been so ever since, and Ive had the privilege on a number of trips to be able to perform this to audiences, and especially dedicate it to her... Always our song, one of the best, from one of the best song-writers of the last few decades.... Happy memories... for ever.. !!

Sting will no doubt go down as one of the greatest composers/songwriters of his musical era. And that's to say nothing of his unmatched vocal chops and iconic bass playing.
He was one of the greatest song writers of his era. He had an instantly recognizable voice supremely suited to his songwriting. But his bass playing was pretty middling. There are plenty of jazz bass players who make Sting look like an amateur. Paul McCartney is much more accomplished on the bass. Listen to Paul’s baselines over the later Beatles albums and you’ll hear a master. That said, Sting still is one of the greatest entertainers of all all time.

Many other songs played, including Sting's 'Pirate's Bride'. All are now forever changed by this experience. Dad passed the morning of 12/9/2024, his hands in mine. I love you Dad.
