He is amazing. I’ve seen him live three times. I was also fortunate enough to meet him and ask some questions at a symposium he did. A very gracious soul!
Hi Billy, I've had the pleasure of touring Germany, Austria and Switzerland a few times. But that was with a quasi "disco-psycho-polka" band and was actually honored at HOF (the "Nashville" of Germany) INCREDIBLE PEOPLE everywhere we went. They were shocked that we played "their" music in true spirit. The high point always was bringing tears to the eyes of little old ladies. They would often say, "We haven't heard this music since we were little girls". Very touching!! Isn't being a musician just the best job in the world? ( John Bowen's drummer from back-in-the-day.) Be well, Billy!! Wash and Pray!! Salzburger Echo was my "Bavarian" band. Also enjoyed much exposure, and featured at 2002 Winter Olympics Salt Lake City, UT.
Bill was using electronics back in the 70’s; one of the most innovative drummers of all time! And his songwriting skills are mistakenly underrated too. Study his history; watch & learn why this man is a drumming legend. Saw him recently in Pittsburgh......still amazing @ 75 !!
"No, no, it wasn't the Troubadour we would have blown the roof off." What a statement!!!! Sheeeeeesh!!! And the funny thing is Mahavishnu would have COMPLETELY blown the roof off of the Troubadour.
How does anyone not like Billy Cobham ?? 🤷♂️ Some people just have their heads up their ass !! It's ridiculous. Besides he's a really nice guy to boot.
"We got 50 pounds weight on that thing". Yeh, that the same old problem. The bass drum keeps walking away from you, no matter how many spikes you have. Should just bolt them down.
Such a genuine, nice person, great teacher, incredible drum legend. Fortunate to watch him up close.
We Cobham’s tend to be the best at anything we do. POINT BLANK PERIOD.

Such a legend! I had a record of Billy Cobham before I even had any of Buddy’s albums. Such a great drummer and man. 🥁🥁🥁
I love Billy's playing! His talent and skill are just off the scale. Just another level.
another planet...
I love Billy's drum sound . He's truly a Great Legendary player
The man is just brilliant. His playing and technique are smooth. I'd love to meet and talk with him, dude is a legend.
8:09 on the Video, I think he meant the "RAINBOW"
Nightclub that was next door to the "ROXY" Nightclub on the same side of the street
Tuning his own drums.....NICE !🥁
Thanks for this an amazing interview! 👍🏻

This man is wholly inspirational.
He was born to do what he do
Billy is such a cool cat! Gotta love 'em.
That was really enjoyable
No existe en el mundo un baterista con tal independencia que asombra hasta los marcianos, no es de este mundo Cobham!
♠️COBHAM♠️
Billy you and your band played at the blue onion in norman oklahoma in 78

Very few good open players such as BC 🥁🥁🎶🎶😎😎👍👍
It is so funny how musicians jump around so much when they talk.

Great sounding drum kit. sounds like old school parade. In a good way 👍🥁
'' IN THE EARLY MAHAVISHNU DAZE '' BEFORE EACH CONCERT .....'' 250 to 300 '' SIT - UPS ..... AS A WARM UP !! ''
Red bone drummer Artie Perez ? He lived a block away from my house back then.70’s my brother’s knew him

By far, the fastest drummer ever.

Always loved Billy, awesome awesome player ... but maybe the 4 sticks thing has had it's day??!
Whiskey A Go Go.
Those two Dreams albums were great.
Why is the “interviewer” so hyper?
Don’t interrupt!
Billy uses triggers?
For world music sounds only i think .
I saw a video of that of him
What is happening!
He smacks the drums in the middle and tunes each individual lug because he can *hear* it? Kewl.
"We got 50 pounds weight on that thing". Yeh, that the same old problem. The bass drum keeps walking away from you, no matter how many spikes you have. Should just bolt them down.
What about using a rope linking the pedal with the closest leg of your throne? I do that. End of the problem.
Those look like triggers...
Good to see a drummer tune his own kit, but too bad he sucks at it 🥸
Tunes drum but uses trigger ?
Only for certain things with tabla sounds and stuff i saw a video of him doing that
@@Nissardpertugiu oh okay gotcha
I don't like the sound of his open tinny sounding Tom Tom's.
That is due to the open sound. People are not used to it. Simon Phillips tunes similar. Ringy toms
