So much nostalgia in one short video, from the Colombia Record Club (maaan i spent some pennies on those)😅 to block parties in Bedford Stuyvesant ... love it! Much respect from this Queens man aspiring to be a decent drummer ! I miss NY 😢
@@drummern8r without Billy (and Tony ) there would be no Terry B, Virgil, Vinnie or Dennis. As far as the G.O.A.T is concerned, the consensus in my circle has always unequivocally been Tony. That of course if the criteria is based on innovativeness as well as technical prowess. In other words, dazzling technique alone won’t place someone atop of the drummers pantheon.
It's awesome to know Billy Cobham references distance in meters. What a ferocious player. It is difficult to comprehend the overabundance of drum talent in this conversation.
I just found Billy Cobham - Billy's best hits album on vinyl at the Goodwill. FANTASTIC buy because the manager at Firehouse music was telling me about this guy and his entire conversation was based on when he saw him live and how great he really is.
When the answer is no more complex than my local boys and girls club.. this man has super human talents that would have eventually surfaced. I am so thankful for my public school vision of the importance of music and arts in PG and Mont co Maryland public schools. Thank you so much!! Fear the Turtle 🐢
Prince talked about having an out of body experience on his last interview where he played a 3 HOUR straight concert at his home in Paisley Park & stated that it was like watching himself from the audience. Man, that has to be a whole NEW of musicianship and I will definitely check out Cobham's back catalogue especially since he isn't doing any Atlanta dates no time soon. I believe that Prince even mentioned this Man during an interview and covered Stratus live in concert.
Decades ago I was told that Billy C's father play panio in a church in Norfolk Virginia but I don't know what his father's connection with Norfolk city Virginia was does anyone know? Please comment.
Awesome to see Neil's face on the table coffee magazine...for what it's worth I transcribed all the interviews with Neil Peart for the only official biography about RUSH...Visions
That’s so true😂😂😂 Billy is so allegorical. Interviewer: Billy, how did you develop your uncanny ability to play odd times signatures? Billy: when I was kid, my father would take my baby brother and I to the Bronx zoo every Spring…….😂😂😂
He's such an amazing musician; it's no surprise that he's so intelligent and articulate.
Absolutely
What Billy's saying about playing with other musicians is so spot on and deep. Wow. The levitation! Thank you for interviewing him!
Magnificent

I remember Billy's acrylic kit I think it was built by Fibes I'm not sure but he's awesome to watch 👍🏻
Yes, Fibes.
Yes. Definitely a Fibes kit when playing with Mahavishnu Orchestra.

That's great ... Get ready for a stellar ride--especially when you see and hear him with The Mahavisnu Orchestra here on TH-cam!
Ah, Sonny Payne - one of my other favorite drummers !

Billy’s *80 YEARS OLD!!* 👀 He looks HALF Bozzio’s age!! 😮
Billy looks great. Drumming keeps you young.
A great drummer, I especially liked his playing when he was in the Mahavishnu Orchestra.
Terry continues his transition into an Italian gramma. 😂
Alot of talented people come from Brooklyn.

Billy has the same Non-Answering questions in person for drum clinics.
