    I love my 1392 in-house. I really don't care about collectors telling me it's not "hot" anymore. I bought it to wear it, not re-sell it.

      You bought it, because you love it, period! I bought too, one PANERAI LUMINOR LOGO, the actual base model, 44mm, PAM01084, two years ago, for daily use, and so far so good, I actually love it. Any complain until now,Thank you.

    Great video. Seeing so much negative stuff from TH-camrs lately. I really enjoyed your views. I've seen so many people say 'they just use eta movements they are not worth the cost.' Yet they have close to 15 in-house movements now with many complications, 8 and 10 day power reserves, sealed ceramic bearings, complex skeletonised workings and mini rotors. Very few brands actually make such a diverse range of high quality pieces. I've owned a lot of them over the last decade and wear my 323 now all the time as its my favourite out of the 15 ive owned. Love them.

    I've owned two, 111 and the 372. Can't say enough about both the watches. I enjoyed the 111 for many years and now am in love with the 372. 372's vintage appeal is off the charts. Fantastic brand that brings a smile on my face each time I look at my wrist.

    I love the Rolex Sub and Breitling Navitimer (both worn by Sean Connery the best Bond) but the astronomical prices the Subs go for these days has turned my off Rolex for good. The Navitimer is a grail watch but Panerai is the only brand that makes me giddy with excitement, I love all the models.

    • @Tone_Jammer

      ACTUALLY... Sean Connery (the man, not the Bond character) wore a PAM 190. There are many photos of him wearing this fabulous reference. I have a 190, and it is a small part of the appeal to owning it.

      Never say never!
      I started out with a 1960s gold plated Oris manual wind. I moved onto a couple of Christopher Wards and eventually sold them and put the money towards a Seamaster Coaxial. I then went on to buy a Speedmaster Triple Date and later chopped that in for a Speedy Moonwatch! I have the SeaMaster and Speedmaster in my collection and have since bought a Rolex DateJust, Tudor Hydronaut II, vintage Girard Perregaux HF, Cartier Santos XL, Seiko Alpinist, Omega Day Date tuning fork (hummer) and a PAM0014.
      I’ve also bought and sold vintage Omegas, Girard Perregaux and Jaeger LeCoultre’s along the way!

    Breitling, Panerai and some of the others will be back. Real problem is all of these little watch companies starting up everywhere. There just assembling a watch and throwing a ETA movement in them. Selling them for under a grand. People think these watches are just like Panerai, Breitling, Omega and all the other staples that have been around forever. The Rolex bubble will eventually burst. Every jerkoff with a little money right now wants a steel sports Rolex. In a few years everyone will have one. Then it's Game over red rover. A $20,000 GMT master II will be back to 7 to 10 grand US. Better yet a real financial crisis like the one in 2008 happens and you will pick up Subs, Gmt's, for 2 to 3 grand

  • @ripperx444
    @ripperx444 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Old Panerai is good. When the new CEO took over he made it the Aldi of Watch brands.
    1. Push pins on some models
    2. Snap case backs on some models
    3. Low water resistance on some models
    4. Quality issues (I had a roller bearing get stuck and the crown would scratched by the push level when closing and opening)
    5. Worst bezels on the market for their submersibles.
    6. The 682 42mm sub is the last one with the 90110 movement. They raised prices and cheapened it by using a non in house movements
    7. Only one strap comes worth most models now
    The company is cutting corners left and right.

      The Panerai Luminor Due is marketed as a DRESS WATCH with panerai design cues..nothing wrong with having 30m WR on a dress watch.. Even the Breitling Navitimer has 30m WR..and that is a SPORTS WATCH... This false criticism is just coming from hysterical rolex fangirls

      Pam111 has always been my favourite.

    Had the 312. Lost it wakeboarding. Wore a Rolex ever since. Always missed the Pam. Got a 372 a month ago. The Rolex was put away ever since. The Pam is such a fun watch to wear. It's "rebellious". And so best worn when it's going against the trend. A rebellious watch that is in trend is an oxymoron.

    I love the brand but I don't think the quality is always there. The crown guard on mine fell off and I was very disappointed by the quality of the crown itself. But I do keep coming back to them - love the history and the iconic masculine designs. They have made some serious mistakes but so have many brands

    • @Eric-le8wu
      @Eric-le8wu 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Panerai's crown guards don't "fall off" just like that. It is made off stainless steel and is tightly attached with two screws on the watch. Some serious force is needed to the crownguard to "fall off" the watch. Same for the crown. The crown on my Panerai watch is very solid. Unless you had a fake.

    • @iaido01
      @iaido01 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@lettuce1305 hublot also sucks ultra major ass. but IWC modifies the shit out of their movements and the finishing is on a very high standard. panerai have meh finishing and only are cosc certified. IWC have their own certificates and those are waaay tougher to get.

  • @raymondhernandez

    I believe that Panerai collectors would be better served by offering a broader range of both classic and contemporary timepieces. Additionally, incorporating a variety of colorful rubber straps could provide an engaging way for collectors to experiment with personalization. A good example would be matching a bright red rubber strap with a PAM 24. It is crucial to avoid having an entire collection of watches that all appear similar in design.

  • @johnandrews3568
    @johnandrews3568 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Just found this today... you say 'beautifully finished movement'. A buddy of mine is a watchmaker and services panerai. He has shown me that Panny only finishes movement parts that are visible thru the display back. Otherwise, no finishing which IMO is shameful for that price point. JLC for example finishes all parts front and back that only the watchmaker will see, but that to me is a big difference in quality and why panerai kinda cuts corners where they can while charging a premium.

  • @sardendibs
    @sardendibs ปีที่แล้ว

    Panerai doesn’t do in-house movements. They are made by ValFleurier, i.e. same group but not in-house. They are just marketed as such. Getting an ETA is better anyway. Robust, cheap and easy to have serviced anywhere and accurate.

  • @kevinbutler9786

    My buddy has a Panerai, great watch for guys with big wrists. The issue for me is that it's a bit niche and so because my buddy has one, I feel like if I got one it would look like I'm copying him. Imagine the horror if we show up to the bar wearing the same watch?!?!?!?

    Looked over the Panerai Store in Singapore. The Ceramica with the black ceramic band is beautiful. But the band alone cost as much as the watch with the leather strap. Liked the Radiomir Black Seal (it's cheaper than my Black/Orange Omega 600M), but not a fan of the green glow. I like the brown/yellow glow much better. The submersibles were cool, but the blue second hand feels 'out of place' to me. So I went upstairs to IWC and got my Big Pilot in black so fast it would make your head spin. LOL. Still super happy with the decision. Cost as much as a full Ceramica, but I like it more. Paneria is a good brand, love the 45mm sizes. it just seems too easy to find something else you'd rather buy right now.

    Thanks for sharing J. Totally agree. Cool pieces. I think you can also say that along with being underrated and underappreciated, Panerai is misunderstood. These were originally Rolex watches in the 1930's to 1950's. Panerai only made the dial. These are the coolest Rolex watches ever made IMHO.

    Think you were looking for they have a "je ne sais quoi". Have to say I'm personally not a fan of their styling. But like basically everything it's all about personal taste. Most watch brands deserve a lot more respect than some people give them. Great video thanks

    Panerai is a dive watch company. Overpriced, overhyped. You continue to offer Pams twice the value on your company's website. Drop your prices and the watches will move.

    Once upon a time I was to decide PAM or "basic" Rolex? So I took .... Luminor Marina titanium 177. Manual winding, no any options. And I ❤ love it. And every year out of 10 passed I read many "professional" analytics how Panerai overestimated and prices will drop. Ha-ha. So, thank you for positive view 😊

    I had Panerai Luminor Marina 328 before and now Radiomir 992, I prefer the Radiomir 992, it's light and comfortable to wear on the wrist compared to the 328.

    I just bought a Panerai 320 GMT in 44 mm recently on 30th August 2020,....I LOVE BIG Size watches in 44 mm and 47 mm, a Centralized hour and minute hand is a MUST.....I don't like small moon separate hour and minute hand, as many complicated watches nowadays have NOT a centralized hour and minute hands.........28,800 VPH (Vibration per hour) in 4 Hz is also a must for an accuracy which is Panerai pam 320 having 28,800 vph movement......previously, I have 3 Hz watches and always NOT Accurate..........Panerai 320 GMT has an IN House watch movement with a 3 Days Power Reserved in the back side watch movement in automatic..........IN HOUSE movement is also a MUST in watches nowadays.........Customers are becoming more choosy and always demand the best mechanical watches with NO Battery on the watch movement......Automatic and Hand Winding are my choice of watches.......Beside Panerai pam 320 GMT in 44 mm, I also have a Panerai 297 GMT in 44 mm as well as popular Panerai 372 in 47 mm in Plexiglass........Italiano certainly knew how to design a good BIG SIZE Watches........Luminor is my favorite.......Radiomir, Submersible.....are NOT my favorite in Panerai.......44 mm and 47 mm are my favorite BIG Size watches.........so I guess I am a Paneristi.......watch collector....Thanks for reading...O:))

    Underrated? They are not underrated. On the contrary - I think they get more attention than they deserve.
    WE are talking about a company which sells the least watch for the money. Some people like how they look and that is ok but to spend 5K just for a look and get nothing from the watch itself.
    For 5000 EUR (which is an average price for entry level Panerai watches ) the buyer gets BRONZE CASE FOR GOD'S SAKE. Not Gold, NOt Silver, NOT EVEN STEEL. The quality of materials is meh , the movements were 300 EUR ETA until recently when Panerai started their own in house movements which are WORSE than even ETAS.
    5k for a Bronze case watch with a 100% machined parts and 0% hand decorations. No wonder they are running out of customers and have a bad rep.
    THEY ARE HUGELY OVERPRICED. A basic no date manual winding BRONZE Panerai's real price is around 1000-1500 EUR and that is thanks to them using in house movement.
    IF they still used ETA - the real price would be 700EUR.

    The 1033 is a classic example of how underrated Panerai is. Blue dial. Gmt. Open case back. Visual power reserve. In house movement. Under 10k.

    I used to love Panerai because of it's looks and history - until I found out that they are not well put together and age badly. Fx. chrome falls off hands, and the 15, 30 and 45 markers turn around and fall off. The crown-lock and the bezel also can be tricky and it costs ridiculous amounts of money to have the smallest repair done. Too much luxury (pricing) and NOT the tough tool watch it used to be in the last century. That's why Panerai isn't cool anymore IMHO.

    Underrated? Come on Pams are overrated dude.
    Which clearly explains the huge depreciation if buy new.
    In Singapore a 11K brand new will sell for 7K used sparingly for less then 1 year. Still have 6 year warranty left.

    To be honest I have grown a little tired of the massive bulk of my Panerai (I have a model 177, which is a 44mm manual-wind Luminor Marina). I am constantly bonking it on door frames, etc. Possibly I'll trade it in for a 40mm model, but those aren't really as iconic and the only ones I'm aware of are automatics, which only adds to the height. I bought a little Sinn #856 used and it's a much more reasonable size and seems to be the one I wear 90% of the time now.

    I love my PAM00320
    For a number of reasons
    Power Reserve
    Return to Zero Seconds
    Movement appears so smooth compared to other brands
    Crystal Caseback
    Crown is easy to put back in after setting date/time
    Changeable Straps
    You dont see many people wearing Panerai in London
    I also love my Rolex Explorer 114270 but it does not have these things.
    It doesn't bother me if others dont think its hot who wants to be like everyone else.

    IMO, a Panerai should not have a date window. When I view their current range, so many are untouchable because of the date window. The submersible 42mm models are quite handsome, but again, made untouchable by the ugly date windows unbalancing the dials.

    Panerai f#cked itself with ridiculous “limited editions” and way overpriced production pieces...the latest epic fail is the use of spring bars and snap-on casebacks....absolutely ridiculous...no wonder the brand is in a tail spin. #epicfail

    From an aesthetic perspective Panerai is definitely unique and fun. And given their prices on the secondary market, definitely worth a try. The only concern is whether or not these will be considered unfashionable in five years time.
