      Thanks so much! 😊 It's always nice to hear that these videos are helpful. There have been a couple of changes since I published this video (price of AirTrain and location of bus stop) so I might have to update it soon. But hoping it stays relevant for a little while longer.

    You did a much better job at explaining all of this than other videos I've watched. I found myself having more questions than I started with after I viewed a few of them. This was very thorough. Great job! You should be a teacher... You do a great job at explaining things to people who truly don't know anything and making it seem approachable and easy.

    If the weather is decent (you decide what that is for you), jfk-[airtrain]->lefferts blvd->walk to aqueduct north-> A train towards manhattan is a great hack. Saves entire airtran fare entirely- so only $2.75 to/from manhattan. If I'm in a hurry, and headed into/out of manhattan, it's worth paying extra for LIRR+airtrain even if nearly $20 one way during peak times as a one-off ticket.

    I’m a New Yorker, so I’m going to say this. For the bus route: the Jamaica station actually connects to a lot of buses. For example, Q65, Q25, and many others and that from there you could connect to the 7 train that leds to Time Square which connects to a lot of the other subway lines. For example, N, Q, R, 1, 2, 3, A, C, and the E train.

    Can't believe you recommend flying into LaGuardia for domestic flights. There is no easy public transit into Manhattan and cabs are metered. JFK or Newark are better options. As for JFK, if I were a tourist, I'd opt for the Airtran/LIRR ride. t will take you into midtown where you can catch a cab. Also, taking a cab or ride share can get you stuck in traffic depending upon the time of day. There used to be an airport bus from midtown to the airports. Is it not still an option? It amazes me that there is such a ridiculous plethora of transit options to get from the major airports in NYC into Manhattan. I don't think there are any other major cities worldwide that have this problem. What a way to go America!

  • @michaelkilimann2645
    @michaelkilimann2645 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    The video is good but not for tourist? If i load the Metrocard only with the price for one air train ride how will I get to the airport if i travel back? It make sense to load the card with 2 rides. And how long is a 7day ticket valid? If i buy one at 11am and leave in 7 days at 18pm is it still valid? I Germany tickets are always valid 24h from buying time. But it looks the 7day Metrocard is always until midnight valid. So if you buy at 23:59 you only get 6 days

    6:26 -- In 1987, I rode a bus from A/Howard Beach to the JFK Airport terminals for no added fare.
    After seeing the airport terminals, I rode an 'express bus' (Olympia Trails bus, I think) to World Trade Center, where I caught a PATH train to Newark/Penn station.. This bus-route to Lower Manhattan no longer exists?

    Hey There!
    I want to thank you for the useful tips. Thanks to the Airtrain and the LIRR, we arrived in Manhattan cheaply and very quickly.
    Unfortunately, we made a mistake that we didn't realise. We paid for a Metro Card for the Airtrain and only wanted to load it the next day with the 7 days unlimited pass. We could only load $33 onto the card, which we stupidly did, believing that we would be able to buy the pass that way. Unfortunately, it turned out that this is an Airtrain Metro Card and it cannot be loaded with the 7days Unlimited Pass. We would have had to buy a new card for the Metro. An exchange was no longer possible, so we ended up spending $66. Too bad, but it was still a wonderful experience.

    • @stevecody321
      @stevecody321 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@constantinocastillo9366 I'm afraid I don't know. We bought a new Metro Card when the credit on the Air Train Metro Card ran out. But it could also have something to do with the fact that we only paid for the Air Train, as we didn't pay for an additional trip on the Metro. It could be that there is another Metro Card for this. That's just a guess.

    What's wrong with taking the A train at Lefferts Blvd/Liberty Ave? Is there a safety issue at that station?

    What would be the best for someone travelling from JFK to midtown with about 3 checked bags and 3 passengers?

    Planning for a trip to NYC next spring and I love your videos so far! I've been reading on TripAdvisor that Uber/Lyft prices from JFK airport after the pandemic actually costs more than the yellow taxi. Do you have any info on that?

      Hi there. From JFK to Manhattan (or vice versa), taxis are generally cheaper because they have a flat rate. If a driver turns on the meter, mention the flat rate because they shouldn't be running a meter.

    Hey! I am flying to JFK airport with my family on 19th December. I have to get to Atlantic City, New Jersey. Can you please suggest me the fastest and the easiest mode of transport to reach to Port Authority bus terminal as i have to catch a bus from port authority bus terminal to Atlantic City.

    Fastest way to Manhattan from JFK. Take the B15 Bus (10 - 15 minute ride) from JFK to the New Lots 3 train or L train stop. Then a 30 - 45 minute ride to Manhattan. Total time 1 hour or less.

      Thanks! I'm making another video on how to get around the $8 AirTrain fee. I'll mention the B15 to L transfer.

    NYC native here, though I normally have a family member drive me to JFK airport. (I live in Queens.) I had no idea that the AirTrain had such an unintuitive fare system. You pay if you're going to exit and one of the two main stations, and it's free otherwise? But what's NYC without its complications, right?

    I think the reason why they have exit fees @ Howard Beach & Jamaica is for crowd control and to keep certain characters @ bay. You know, the riff raff.

      I would avoid the subway late at night. But in general, it's fine from the airport to Manhattan.

    I read the flat rate from JFK to Manhattan is now $70 instead of $52. You might need to update the video description?
