  • National Geographic Explorer-in-Residence Enric Sala led an expedition in September 2014 to document the stunning biodiversity of the Republic of Palau's waters and assess how a marine protected area could help safeguard the ecosystems of this paradise for generations to come. The expedition was part of National Geographic's Pristine Seas project.

I was there 2 years ago. It really is amazing. I remember diving those same spots in between the beautiful reefs and the beautiful animals like the manta rays, the sharks, the turtles and all the colourful fish. The most beautiful place I have ever been to. I really hope that I can go back some time and see all that again. 😍

While big countries have their corporations ravage our planet's environment, we have small places like Palau that are doing all they can to protect Earth's natural beauty

What amazing an educated people can do for our planet amazes me, but it's people that want to make a difference and keep our ocean clean and untouched, to help make a better future..

Palau is one of those minimally disturbed places we need to protect. Would be amazing to dive and sail in this location.

It is a great documentary but I have an issue with the title and where it says "wonders worth protecting"
This whole planet is worth protecting for without it, we and future generations of the human race as well as every other life form on this planet will cease to be for we won't have a planet to live on so instead of spending billions trying to find life on other planets, how about we spend a little bit more preserving and protecting the one we live on??

Help us keep Palau and Micronesia clean and pure. We have nuclear submarine activity nearby on Guam, so trying to push that out and keep these areas of Micronesia closed. Aquaculture farms are the best, but not sure how to protect.

Uhh many places are overweight..it’s the affect of processed food. Look at Samoa. If all of these islanders are the food that the earth gave naturally, they would be very fit from the nutrients of fish and taro. Plus every country has overweight people. For instance, America. There are only 20,000 people in Palau, compared to America’s 300,000,000. The ratio of obese to healthy is much greater in America.
