I love that you not only explain what the mathematical function nodes do but also creative ways they can be used!

Looking at what you've done with all these videos, you're a modern day hero. Thank you!

It would be great if you did video on Triplanar mapping. There are some videos on YT but they are not the best.
By the way, I love your videos thanks for you brilliant work Ben :).

Loving the series so far! Will you do a video on how to use displacement, metallic and roughness maps? I am a little stuck on that

i like or series. but for me it is very confusing to mix unity and unreal.

I'm teaching universal shader principles, not game engines - because I believe that understanding the principles is more valuable than just knowing one engine. The engines are just a way to show the information. I want people to be able to take what they learn here and be able to use it in any engine - Snowdrop, Unreal, Frostbite, Unity, ShaderFX, Blender, etc. I jump back and forth between them so you can see that the core principles are the same.

@@BenCloward people only care about fancy thing. Realistic snow, tree, rock, glass, like red dead redemption 2. Shader principles may be valuable. But fancy shaders are more interested. That just what people want. Super mega realistic shader. Unfortunately, that is what i want too😅

@@SenEmChannel Maybe valuable? How would one be able to maintain a pipeline without having to know what's going on in the shader mathematically? We would never be able to solve a problem without knowing these fundamentals. And the super realistic shader alone would never be able to achieve the feel of RDR2, we've got to look into texture quality, renderer, lighting, tone mapping and post-processing, and so much more. Perhaps look into Subsurface Scattering, IOR and Light diffusion, which might help out in what you want.

@@SenEmChannel What's the point of making fancy shaders if you don't understand a shit about them? there's plenty of tutorial on fancy shaders on youtube that tells you the steps but teaches you nothing and all you can do is copy their work you can't make anything of your own they expect you to know all this they left all of us beginners stranded
heck I've been struggling with UE5 from this whole year and only now I feel like I'm actually learning something all thanks to this man ben seriously nobody has this much wealth of knowledge for beginners and everyone all in nicely put together playlist with no price tag attached he's the only reason why I haven't quite ue this man's is a genius
