Im pretty sure this is the first ever Okuma baitcaster Ive actually held, but it feels very well made, smooth, and quiet!

I've always liked Okuma products. I love their spinning reels. Imo they're very under appreciated

looks pretty nice, should mention it was this channel that helped me which reel to go for in a previous video as i love baitcasting way more than spinning rods and picked up the lews bb1 pro as I wanted a drag clicker, love it

I weighed the favorite soleus xcs spool and it came out at 11 grams. I just realized how light that spool is now that I see all these reels.
all i want is a on the water test and cast battle featuring this reel. Ever since you did your first video on this reel, I have been inticed by it.
Ive always been a shimano fanboy and used to think okuma were just a cheap brand until I handled an Helios air baitcaster in a tackle shop when they first came out and ended up walking out of the shop with it . I used that reel for years and it was still as good as new when I sold it and I also got more for it than I paid for it .
I'm a die hard Shimano fan but I think I'm gonna have to try this reel!! Can't wait to see some casting footage.
these kind of handles are the best imo for all low profile baitcast reels, much better/more comfortable than the regular concave ones

A premium frame reel under 200.00? Outstanding!!
The closest reel in price and size is the 13 fishing concept A. I bought one and didn't realize how light it's going to be. You definitely make good comparison videos on different reels. You definitely need to look at the 13 fishing reels.

I have a dozen okuma's, most of them are green, and the rods to match. Also have several Helious and Komodo's. These three will flat out cast, and will hang with my matainum and the DC

Excited about the magnesium reel. Does the drag click? Not the drag star. What about the line guide?
Looks like a very nice reel for the money I have a OKuma spin caster that's noisy and has play in the bail however it's caught a lot of fish for me too definitely not as smooth as my Shimano spincast reels.
Hopefully real test you can get that thing casting and get us a review and comparison against the other big dogs who knows it may be time to get in okuma baitcaster

@@THEREELTEST yes they can get very large but I've caught them before on a black max on my 8'6 med heavy okuma and I was using 30lbs braid and a spinner and it handled it fine. I dont fish alot of big rivers here in the pnw so there's no need for a giant reel.

I bought two. At first they were smooth. I’ve had them for about three months. Now there’s a clicking noise when I reel. The only way to stop it is to put it in free spool and engage it to see if it’s gone. If not then disengage then engage. This is very annoying. Almost feels like a gear is grinding a tooth. So I took it apart to clean and the cheap plastic cap on the line guide cracked in half putting it back on. So saved the spool and trashed the rest. By the way both reels make that noise.
Reel handles- annoyingly slip off my fingers multiple times when I get hit on a retrieve.
Casting- cast pretty well but takes a lot of tuning and then fine tuning. The best I could get was a 1/4” MB SZ2 about 40’ at best on a swing fire and 8lb flouro.
Didn’t like this reel. Feels very plastic and cheap. Also the 8lb test went in between the spool and frame a few times and then got caught inside and just turned into a nightmare. Last thing you want when your trying to fish and relax. Would not buy another.
The frame design look almost the same to daiwa steez sv to me..you should compare palming to that

granted I havent handled any Okuma baitcasters to compare it with, but it felt extremely well made, tight and smooth, no weird noises or anything showing bad tolerances. Hopefully all of them are like this

There's no way they would give Okuma an award for finally releasing an original design reel let alone Best in Show, over the last few years they've done nothing but release rebranded aliexpress gear, so much so that I'm still not convinced this exact reel won't show up on Ali with different badging. It really seems to be a great reel but it's the least they could do with how many customers they've screwed as of late just by using name recognition.
that spool alone is better than anything the Zillion came up with. In fact I think I see a cast battle in the future since I have both

Can’t compare a Kast king type reel with a Shimano because Okuma is not even on the same page as Shimano or even Diawa junk … Abu is my 2nd fav but the older ones , new stuff is junk unless you buy the highest end stuff … but OKuma no thanks … and it’s not even cheap .. I’ll keep my Curado k 200s that are Awesome even after catching many big Salmon on them … … Want the Best Buy Shimano ..
