"Do girls like 80s metal?" Man, what kind of a question is that? Girls was a MAJOR reason why 80s metal was so successful! They loved the long-haired guys with their bedroom eyes, and that fascinating balance between roughness and sensitivity, manifested in innumerable mega classic power ballads. (Mötley Crües "Home sweet home" was what opened the floodgate to the latter phenomenon, by the way.) In short, 80s metal was kind of the world's most effective gateway drug to turn girls into metalheads :-D
As a teen I liked it. Not today, but my husband is still in love with the 80's. Never been a metal fan either though, so....but the long hair make-up wearing men of the 80's & the music associated with them went out the window for me by about 18. Give me classic rock, country or blues any day over 80's music. But thats just me...
I was a teen in the 80s and I was definitely a rocker chick and into all of the hairbands and went to many concerts including this one 😊🎶❤❤😎Keep on Rockin'
Even all these years later, that's still a killer riff. When it comes to hair metal, Crue did it RIGHT. Underneath all that hair, leather and makeup, and despite all the cocaine and alcohol (or, perhaps, BECAUSE of it), they were unquestionably skilled musicians.
@@jeremiahrose4681 Absolutely. On the other hand, a TON of hair metal bands were all show and no talent. As is the case when you look closely at ANY era of "pop" music, y'know? There's 100 Ashlee Simpsons for every Beyonce, no matter what genre you're examining. Folks who look the part but can't back it up. There was a LOT of that in the 80s.
Omg I loved watching you jam out to this Tasha, lol. So fun. My only regret is that it wasn't the official video. The drum set would have blown your mind! 🥁🤯
Loved that you shouted out to the drums. This was one of the drummers and one of the songs specifically that inspired me to learn to be a drummer! You two should check out the movie DIRT which is a biopic about the life of this band. So wild. Chasing girls at a Crue concert is legendary. They always do a "boob cam" (like a kiss cam at basketball games) where the camera zooms in on the assets and many lift their shirts for full disclosure - and the crowd applauds the jumbotron!) Another band that kicked ass for girls and guys was Def Leppard - specifically the Hysteria album. Others were Poison, Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Whitesnake, and Warrant.
I was a young kid growing up in so Cal when Girls, Girls, Girls hit in 87 and everything outlined in this particular song was, and still is, true about the LA area. Wild side indeed.

My teens were late 70's-80's Metal/rock. It was honestly such a beautiful time musically. I grew up in the Bronx listening ti Stevie Wonder, Michael Jackson and disco. Still love that. But then came our Metal. It wasn't always perfect, or good for that matter, but aside from a ton of seriously talented musicians, it was the entire package all in one. You followed these bands by magazine, MTV Headbangers ball and friends. No Internet, you cell phones, actually waiting at a ticket master location with a wristband to get physical tickets. It made the era so much fun. But still does Mr. Wonder. 🤘🏼

Mötley Crüe were at their absolute wildest with this album and tour. Their substance abuse and self-destructive escapades reached epic heights, and their then manager had to play chaperone on the band's "Girls, Girls, Girls" tour to make sure no one came home in a body bag.
Yeah, the 80s, especially the early to mid, pretty much defy explanation. This is one of my favorite MC songs, I still have my Girls,Girls,Girls tape from the 80s.
Do girls like 80's metal. Oh hell yes, however there was were playlists. One you listened to when it was just the guys. This was your Metallica, Slayer, Megadeth etc. The hard stuff. Then when the chicks were around you shifted to a lot more hair metal type stuff. There were a few songs/groups/albums that made both lists. They kicked enough ass for the all guys squad and they managed to not run off the chicks. This was one of those songs. Crue was one that frequently made that coveted list. They were one of the progenetors of the hair metal genre but few of those that followed rocked as hard.
Tommy Lee is my favorite drummer. Not the best drummer, that honor goes to Peart RIP, probably not even top 5...please don’t troll me y’all, just my opinion. But he is my favorite because he brings the drums to the front of the music, not just a tempo setter in the background. He hits the drums hard, making sure they are heard. Also he is raw, unpolished, and flamboyant! Love his attitude and his crazy antics. Wish he used more cowbells like he did in almost every song on the first album.

This is not "80s Metal." This is 80s Glam Metal/Hair Metal. The bands consisted of androgynous members with very little musical talent that relied heavily on their appeal to the women of the 80s. 80s metal is Iron Maiden, Judas Priest, Dio, Metallica, Slayer, Pantera, Anthrax, Megadeth, Black Sabbath, Ozzy Osborne, etc. In the 80s the Glam Metal bands were hated by us true metal fans, because they were formulaic, fake, radio-friendly and talentless.
Pantera may have debuted in the 80s, but they never sold any records until the 90s and are widely, and correctly, regarded as a 90s band. Black Sabbath were obviously active, and great, in the 80s, but nobody in their right mind would ever call them anything other than a 70s band. And yes, in the 80s, hair metal was hated by many "true" metal fans - not by me, and I'm truer than anyone - but today, the attitude from the harder bands of the era has changed dramatically. I have personally been told by Gary Holt of Exodus and Slayer fame that even back in the day, he secretly practiced on solos by the likes of Warren DeMartini of Ratt and George Lynch of Dokken, because these were in fact SUPERB players, though keeping it secret from his buddies to keep up his "cool" image. And he's not alone, more the norm. That, if anything, is fake. The idea that hair metal bands were somehow "fake" by definition is a stupid myth, thankfully mostly dispelled at this point. If you do what you actually like and want to do, you're being honest, regardless of style. There are no fake genres, only fake musicians. And if you can't hear that the likes of Dokken, Ratt, Winger, Bon Jovi, Europe et al consist of stellar, formidable musicians - sorry to tell you, then it's you who knows nothing about music. And "talentless" and "radio friendly" don't go hand in hand either. The radio plays what the radio plays, and that does not affect any musicians' individual talents at all. Us REAL true metal fans simply embraced the fact that metal bands were the best at any given type of song. Mötley Crüe, Metallica, Savatage and Cirith Ungol were all, in their own way, essential to the US metal scene, each bringing something different to the potluck. That some were more commercially successful than others is simply the name of the game. In the 90s, Pantera outsold hair bands by a factor of 1000, but nobody accused Pantera of being radio friendly and talentless. Trends are fickle, but classics live forever.
@@erikthompson619 Wrong on so many counts here. Pantera started as a Glam Metal band. They sold their first album in 1983. Their first album that I would consider true metal was released in 1988. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantera_discography Black Sabbath never called themselves Heavy Metal, and the term wasn't even used when they were in the earliest of their recording career. They called their style "Doom Music." However, the fans in the 80s most definitely considered their 70s catalogue to be Heavy Metal, and with Dio at the mic in the 80s they proved themselves to deserve the credential of Heavy Metal band. None of the Glam Metal bands - most especially Bon Jovi, who only ever recorded one good song (Wanted Dead or Alive) had anything more than a mediocre talent as musicians. I will give Motley Crue the credit they deserve - their album Shout at the Devil was one I owned back in 1983, and I still play it today from time to time. After that album they were total shit.
