I LOVE the scene where he just hurls a chair at Benny... lol
Top-tier comedy.
I always forget it and it cracks me up every time.
the connect tho
My favorite is "That happens a lot around here." in response to the creepy gust of wind.
30:08 for those curious.
Brendan Fraser is such a heartthrob. In this especially. I am happy to see him coming back and making good movies again.
always been told i look a lot like him in this movie...which i guess is an ok compliment compared to being told u look like him NOW ... xdxd
@hansenbee123 I don't agree. I think he looks great for his age.
@@hansenbee123 bruh what a crazy comment considering the quote on your picture
He is such a nice guy. I met him 2 years ago at a comic con in my town. He is everything you could imagine him to be
I'm fine with him manhandling our gorgeous Rachel Weisz. John Krasinski on the other hand..I can't stand the guy and he needs to get the F away from our lovely Emily Blunt. GET ME HIS SCALP
"You swear?"
"Every damn day"
Best line.
Rachel Weiss is so adorable in this movie
When the camera cuts to her wearing the veil, she just melts my heart 😁💘🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Absolutely! 😍
She was great in the role, too bad she didn't return for movie 3 and beyond.
This is the movie that got me into ancient Egypt, along with Stargate Sg-1. They’re the whole reason I got my history degree 📜.
Star gate SG -1 was so great I was already into Greek mythology and such but it and things like the mummy really got me into Egyptian mythology for sure
I'm glad you weren't motivated by JACK THE RIPPER 2 part series.😮😅
I love the MUMMY, the movie that is, so much I've watched at least 1/2 dozen times. Rachel Weiss is so beautiful and I love her comment, "What is a place like........"😊
@@StopReadingMyNameOrElse never played
@@mikealvarez2322 “doing in a girl like me” also I actually love the history of Jack the Ripper…I just love history!!!
@@js01dt It's usually better than fiction. 😊
This movie aged like fine wine. Rachel Weisz looks like a 20's movie star in the best way possible and I think this is Fraser at his peak. Such a fun movie.
A $500 bet in 1926 is approximately $9,000 today. That is one hell of a wager.
This is how Hollywood can make a great remake. Doesn't happen much. And Rachel Weiss is one of greatest dames in me life. Old Hollywood monster movie with 80s Spielberg style in the 90s doing old school 30s kind.
Still one of the best action movies I have ever seen. Brendon Fraser was and still is one of the goats.
You should watch more movies
Such a good movie! I love the story and the chemistry between the actors. Everybody stays true to their nature, but it ends up being needed in the end. Evelyn is a damsel in distress at the end, but Rick was also one in the beginning. Evelyn is out of her element in the field, but is the most level-headed person in the film. Rick is naturally action hero, barging in there face first, guns blazing, getting your friend shot in the ass. Jonathan is the bumbling side kick with a knack for pick-pocketing, and whose ancient Egyptian is a touch rusty. Without any one of them at the end though, everything goes to hell!
IZZYYYYY
@@SuperiorlySubversive Lol, I like that they keep him consistent too though. He's a coward through and through, doing anything and everything he can to survive and make a profit until he's ultimately done in by his own greed. Despite his flaws and backstabbing though, Rick still tried to help him in the end!
Level headed indeed ..reading the curse was very level headed
"Birthplace of Anck Su Namun, Pharaoh's mistress. No other man was allowed to touch her"
In those final years of the century (1999), we went crazy with Patricia Velásquez. What a woman.
16:12 - Each Egyptian king had their own designed scarab/beatle designed.
They sometimes find them in archeological digs.. So he would have reason to believe that they're not real bugs.
Yes it’s universal and part of the ride is “ death is only the beginning “
The Mummy is one of my favorite movies. I love Rachel Weisz as the brainy, beautiful leading lady, Brendan Fraser as the adventurous man of action, and Arnold Vosloo as the chief villain. Also, they did get the mummification practices correct when Evelyn described how ancient Egyptians removed people's brains (minus a slight omission): The embalmers used the hook to also punch a hole in the person's skull so the brain drained out when they were rolled over. And I always get jumpscared when Jonathan is toying around in that damned sarcophagus, no matter how many times I've seen the movie.
Side trivia:
1. In the scene introducing her as Ankh-su-namun, model/actress Patricia Velásquez was completely naked with the exception of a loin cloth, a few pieces of jewelry, pasties & body paint (body paint took four hours to apply).
2. Brendan Fraser revealed on a recent episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show” that he had a near-death experience during a stunt gone wrong while filming “The Mummy.” The Oscar winner said he was “choked out accidentally” during the scene in which he had to be hanged from the gallows in the Egyptian prison, which resulted in him being resuscitated by on-set medical personnel.
3. In the desert race to Hamunaptra, you see camels and horses. Horses are faster (on flat land), but camels are adapted to life in the desert. Even though they do eventually have to eat and drink, camels can live off the fat reserves inside their humps, their long eyelashes keep dust out of their eyes, and their feet are big and wide to keep them from sinking into the sand as they move.
4. After Evelyn unknowingly awakens Imhotep by reading The Book Of The Dead (which is actually a funerary scroll in real life) and the locust swarm flies into the encampment at Hamunaptra, the locusts crawling on the Egyptologist are actually grasshoppers that were refrigerated to make them sluggish. On a similar note, the scarabs in real life were merely dung beetles, not vicious flesh eaters.
Zzzzzzzzz
@@voodoochile333 Nice attempt at trolling, but it came short of its target. Stick to holding up whatever bridge you came out from.
@@rainbowpegacornstudios 21 word post. Well done, keep it up!
@@voodoochile333 Is it fun picking on an autistic person? (What you've been doing, you dick)
I'd hazard a guess you're thinking of George of the Jungle.
Edit: I honestly don't know if they can make movies like this any more. A strong and charming lead, a wonderfully capable woman, a great villain, humour, swashbuckling, horror.
Disney starwars
This movie is such a classic with so many tropes and cheese but its amazing i love how it has a little bit of horror and mystery and comedy and yeah just keeps you glued to the screen =]
You'd love 'Blast From The Past' i think. It stars Brendon Fraser and Alicia Silverstone and it is a pretty funny romcom.
She Will love It!
That movie is so good by him early 2000s 🙌🏻
George of the jungle, Encino man, Blast from the past are other good movies with Brendon Frazier
@ Bedazzled.
Up...
This movie is awesome...
Not many people know this, but Brendon Fraser wanted the stunts to be real as possible, so he did most of them himself including the hanging. He bruised throat during that scene.
this was a great farewell for Bernard Fox who was everywhere on the 60s sitcoms I grew up watching
23:50 Locusts, not mere grasshoppers. One of the ten plagues of Egypt. They're going a bit out of order here though - locusts are actually the eighth plague, not the first (the first plague is the water of the Nile turned to blood).
I love this movie so much. One of my former managers loved it as well. We talked about it enough for her to imprint a portion of my nametag with this quote.
"I got all the horses!"
"Looks to me like you're on the wrong side of the RI-VER!"
Brendan Fraser first came on the scene in Encino Man (1992) with Sean Astin (LOTR’s Samwise Gamgee) and Paul Shore, and then with School Ties (1992) with Matt Damon. Ben Affleck, and Chris O’Donnell. He rose to stardom with George of the Jungle (1997) and Gods and Monsters (1998) with Ian McKellen before doing The Mummy. He’s had a tumultuous career after that but made a comeback in The Whale (2022), which won him Academy Award for Best Actor for the role of Charlie. It’s a powerful but depressing film.
John Hannah is probably best known (aside from The Mummy franchise ) for Four Weddings and a Funeral (1994) and for the TV series, Spartacus: Blood and Sand, and Spartacus: Gods of the Arena, where he plays the Roman, Quintus Lentulus Batiatus, owner of a gladiator school, along side his wife, Lucretia, played by Lucy Lawless (Xena: Warrior Princess).
The lovely Rachel Weiss was probably first noticed in Stealing Beauty (1996) with Liv Tyler (LOTR’s Arwen Undómiel), Joseph Fiennes, and Jeremy Irons. She went on to star in Swept from the Sea (1997) alongside Ian McKellen before playing Evelyn Carnahan in The Mummy. She would go on to star in Beautiful Creatures (2000), Enemy at the Gates (2001)with Joseph Fiennes and Jude Law, and, About a Boy (2002) with Hugh Grant. She went on to star in the MCU’s Black Widow (2021) with Scarlett Johansen and Florence Pugh.
Actually one of his very first movies was "Monkey 🐒 Bone 🦴!!" It was a 3D version of the Mask
Zzzzzzzzz
It is awesome that you've been able to pursue your passions Stef. Never look back on your life experiences with regret. Living your dreams is something most people only dream of.
There is a video on TH-cam of an Egyptologist reacting to this movie, and one of the more remarkable things is a LOT of the Heiroglyphs and Heiratic on the the various objects is in fact accurately translated. Like the writing scratched into the top of the sarcophagus that Imhotep was buried alive in does in fact read "Death is only the beginning", more or less.
8:11 "Do it lady" such a funny line 😹
I remember being 4 watching this movie with my dad at the theater.
Iconic action film.
It's so funny when you get nervous and you can't find the words to say what you're thinking, and suddenly a burst of spanish come out, like "Dale!" and being from Uruguay myself, recognizing instantly that "rioplatense" accent in the middle of an english-speaking reaction is so refreshing. 😊
The Mummy ride is at Universal. I went on it 2 or 3 times the last time I drove to Orlando. Its so awesome. But you might not like the part where the Mummy's mouth opens. 😂
@2:29 When this movie was released , many of my female coworkers here in Silicon Valley wanted her outfit until they realized it was painted on!!!
OMG, you are the cutest. You just experienced a jump scare and then you asked, does this have jump scares? Lol. Yes, I believe so.
I remember falling instantly for Rachel. Everything about this movie was fantastic. One of the great adventure movies, imo.
I miss the 90s. Everything was better in the 90s.
Careful, Rachel's husband had a license to kill. :P
Then we fall even harder for her in the sequel where she's even more of a badass than she is here!
yooooo the new hair goes super hard, I love that color on you!!
Absolutely not. It ruins her facial features. She looks bland now.
Beny friend of O conal did manage to get a few bags of alot of gold n put it onto the camel 🐫 that O conal n evee were rideing on but then Beny got greddy n went back inside the gold chamber to get more but was unable to get out at the end so he was a bit useful before he died lol
This is great, I’m so glad you’ve started this 2 movie series!
If you're still scared,I recommend adopting a black cat, despite the lie of bringing bad luck, they were considered lucky especially in egypt as they protected their owners in those times! 🐈⬛️
Great timing, I'm watching an Agents of SHIELD reaction where Jonathan (John Hannah) just showed up!
Another great fantastical adventure movie would be Stardust, with Charlie Cox and Claire Danes, one of my favorite movies.
I was born on Halloween 1980 I grew up with the macabre all around me and loved every bit, except when my older sister would scare the shit out of me with her Freddie mask
Bedazzled.. movie where Brendan Frasier makes a deal with and gets 7 wishes from the devil.. a sexy devil 😂
25:31 - He has stolen the eyes of a severely nearsighted guy, so the mummy should wear glasses now.
The brothers some of the best bits, he is the comic relief! I think the word you might be thinking of is Levity.
21:58 Don't give out personal info like that on the internet Stef
I was thinking this as well
I still think it's insane that Eevee and Jonathan trust Rick to keep them safe when the very first thing he does when they meet is attack them!
George, George.. George of the Jungle 🎶🎶 That movie was my introduction to Mr. Brendan Fraser
Mine was Encino Man.
@@toodlescae Oh I always wanted to see that movie..!!
@lazypaulreact as a plus you get Sean Astin and Pauly Shore as well.
Luckily tho Stef scarab beetles don’t crawl up from the inside in real life. And their an extremely important symbol in Ancient Egyptian culture.🪲
I was always under the impression the ones at the site were special or cursed. They've been in those shells for 3000 years and were still alive? There's something supernatural about them.
Proud of you kid, really, you earned everything you've gotten, you've proved the doubters wrong. Your family should be so proud of you. And The Mummy is such a fun movie.
perfect Halloween movie...just a perfect movie in general. such a childhood nostalgia. Has to be in my top 10 favs
Some other great Brendon Fraser movies to watch are Blast From The Past, With Honors, George of the Jungle, Bedazzled, and The Whale which he won the Oscar for Best Actor.
This film is in contention for my favorite movie of all time!
I love the O'Connels!!!
holy shit that accent switch. That was a good accent.
Your questioning of the cat and the fear it instilled in the mummy, is because of how ancient Egyptians saw cats and how they were perceived as guardians in the afterlife. This is why the mummy left in haste out of her room.
The Mummy is an absolute classic 🥰🥰🥰
29:23 Egyptians believed that cats scare evil spirits, and after seeing this movie in youth I'm also started to believe that. So from that time I don't afraid to stay alone or/and in dark if my cat is by my side (^_^)
This one and The Mummy Returns are one of my favourite Movies of all time 😂❤❤❤
34:41 .... please give us an entire reaction video with an accent!! LOVED IT!!!
As I re-watched this I saw that smile on your face as Evie mentioned how proud she was. Sweet moment.
I also enjoyed Brendan Fraser in Journey to the Center of the Earth but one of his underrated movies is Blast From The Past. I hope one day you watch and react to that.
You should watch Bedazzled and Blast From the Past those are iconic comedy classics with Brandon Fraser
Yeah that bug going under the skin always scared me lol but the effect is still crazy good lol
The Mummy Returns is also pretty good. The only reason it gets a bad rep is because of what they did with The Rock (his wrestling schedule kept him from doing mocap so the animators improvised). Tomb of the Dragon Emperor was a bit of a disappointment but has great fight scenes with Jet Li and Michelle Yeoh. The Scorpion King spin-off is what it is. Director Stephen Sommers also did Van Helsing with Hugh Jackman and Kate Beckinsale, which is in a similar style as The Mummy but with Dracula.
This movie is a fun time and a damn classic. Brendan Fraser is tremendous as usual 🤘🏽Make sure to do the sequel as well.
Cats were mystical gate keepers in the ancient times of egypt apparently .
Great reaction Stef, more Brendon Fraser movies are "George of the Jungle", "Airheads", and "Bedazzled"
These awesome reactions from the beautiful Stef Solari, made this version of The Mummy, even more enjoyable to watch.
my dad was a giant brandon fraser fan so i grew up on this man, he is the absolute god king of all
My favorite Brendan Fraser movie is Blast From the Past. You'd love it!
Sheepish? (of a person or expression) showing embarrassment from shame or a lack of self-confidence: a sheepish grin.
Fraser has done Air Heads and redone Bedeviled.
Jonathon (John Hannah) hurt his wrist during filming so sometimes he wears a brace.
Like others have said Blast From The Past is another great movie with Brendan Fraser and Alicia Silverstone. You also have to check out Bedazzled with him and Elizabeth Hurley.
14:35 A good way to say "Bruto" in English is "crude" or if crude is too strong then "foolish" is also a good one
The Mummy is a summer popcorn flick and no where near a horror movie.
We used to get those grasshoppers at the golf course I worked at in Florida
Bedazzled is a pretty good Brendan Fraser film. Comedy with some solid emotional moments!
Empecé con uno y ahora no puedo para de ver tus videos, me encantan tus reacciones 💘😊
The guy who played the Mummy previous movie Darkman is more melancholy. It has all of trappings of a superhero movie but a trip into a survivor post traumatic stress disorder
The sequel is good. Another Fraser movie that is very cute is 2000 version of Bedazzled with Elizabeth Hurley. Also the aforementioned "Blast from the Past" and all of the "George of the Jungle" farces. Good reaction to this one. I re-subscribed.
The beef he has with Beni’s great I loved the river scene lol
You should watch bedazzled. Such an underrated movie. But the second mummy is the best.
When we saw this in the theater, right as Brendan Fraser uses 2 handguns, I knew it immediately that The Mummy is going to be a franchise.
Best Stef outro! Can't wait for The Mummy 2!
Nice. We got a Stef lore drop. Good job being brave Stef. Most people aren't.
You should watch mummy 2 and 3
Te amo! Que bella te ves cuando te sorprendias o veías que imhotep abría la boca en su modo momia... Está es tremenda película y ojalá veas la segunda stef!!
This movie is really good choice to see in Halloween time's.❤
After the second one there is a 3rd one thats a prequel called the scorpion king starring the rock
With the worst CGI in human history
@@EyalItsik It's still a good movie, but goddam is that CGI terrible.
It's a guilty pleasure. Plus, Michael Clarke Duncan is great in it and there's Kelly Hu in a metal bikini.
43:54 It's almost October!
Why do people always have different reactions to these two scenes 8:07, 8:32 they're basically the same, straight up sexual assault.
one of my favourite movies!... Rachel is beatiful and they nailed the comic relieve in the movie
and also i LMAO at your reaction when they kiss at the end haha 43:31
I'm always so jealous of your hair XD mine is so rough and easily broken.
50:15 relieves the tension... once the movie gets going there is continuous tension until the end
Of course there’s magical elements, it has to do with a mummy coming back to life
Your hair looks incredible, love your reactions!
“Are you my Mummy?”
Shit! Wrong fan group!
I used to go jobbing many years ago with a "Female Celeb" and she kept tell ing me that she was not shore if she wanted to follow in her fathers foot-steps, I gave her some words of wisdom that I leared from My Father " If you like it and can do it, Go for it"...... the singer I am talking about is ...............Kim Smith (Wilde), So go with what you know and what you know and what you know you can do..........Buy the way that look is so beautiful, you look anazing. I love all your movie reactions You are A star hun XXX
12:25 It doesn't matter if they get the map instead because they already know there the city is as they were the ones watching O'Connell walk away into the desert near the start.
We eat grasshopper sometimes.. .. Very nutritious😊
hey beautiful stef HAPPY HALLOWEEN and you're going to enjoy this movie.😙💖🎃
I love this trilogy and the first one was made the year I was born Stef and even though the third is not the greatest but love it in my opinion.
Stef in the sunlight is brilliant!!!
52:00 You'd like the series of moves and the show "The Librarians" which has a lot of the same vibes as this film!
Worth waiting for Halloween to watch with you Stef. :)
Also, Beni did not wear the brown pants, did he. ;)
Just a feelgood movie with occasional scares. Perfect for any time of the year.
Another classic movie with Brendan Frazier is Encino Man
De las mejores películas que vi de niño, y hasta hoy en día a mis 32 años la puedo ver mil veces más, es un clásico
you'll sleep fine don't worry, This is one of my favorite movies by the way
