I think the biggest flaw of the Ace Pro 2 is its poor optimization for nighttime shooting. Early buyers' test videos show severe shaking issues at night. If it goes back on sale, we might see more similar videos.
I did not see the sever shakes...we still see jitters in some cases which is normal it is digital stab. On op3 we see the road bumps and it is very normal as well
I don’t understand the hate or fanaticism on one of these over the other. They both look good, some scenes I prefer Ace 2, some OA5. They both can look good. Both have strengths and weaknesses.
*Also depends on how much experience one has in videography as to one that just does Auto and it working out for them. Plus shooting in anything over 1080 requires a Dedicated GPU which most people don't have in a PC plus what is your Monitor Res also. I have an LG OLED so somethings will look much better on My Screen as opposed to say someone who just shoots in 1080 in which most of the time LOG isn't necessary unless you want to Color Grade it, but it all depends on the viewers POV*
are you switching the A and B on purpose? Because one moment the left one is soft, then the right one becomes soft after transition. weird as i dont think there are any changes on the subject
exactly what I thought, the saturated colors are from the ace pro 2, the duller ones from the OA5, but I also noticed that first camera a ace pro 2 on the left then I saw the same in camera b, so it's definitely as you're saying too... I found this video very confusing, it would have been better if he wrote the names of the cams with the different settings
@@JT7POV yeah its been like this for most of his comparison for the OA5 and AP2 One thing I'm sure of since i watched most of the reviews for both action cam is that only the Ace Pro 2 suffers the softness problem. Also if he's doing it on purpose then I'm not surprised since insta360 is know for some shady deals

Searching online, I read that the AP2 features an Ambarella CV5 SoC (System on Chip). Can you confirm this? Because if it's true, the Ambarella CV5 does not support 10-bit log.
@photorabz No, no, I'm not looking for 10-bit. The action cam I want to buy is the one that makes the best footage without having to do post-production. I only asked this because there are a lot of people asking for 10-bit on the AP2.😁
Thanks for sharing. Wish someone would do a comparison in the webcam feature. So hard to find any info on webcam mode and how they perform. It's so important to me before making a decision to buy an action camera :/
They are good for webcams. But I dnt recommend them Because there are better options for that in the market for a cheaper price check link 2c or link2 btw

They are really not a million miles apart. 10 bit isn’t so much an advantage in the final output on TH-cam, but it is an advantage as a starting point for colour grading because of the larger latitude for editing.
Sad results for AP2. It seems that using provided by Insta360 color profile for colorizing the i-Log is not suitable for good reuslt. Too many contrasted shadows with blacks aroud (RGB 0,0,0) is not good. How they approved and release this result to customers? OA5 looks way much better. But i think, that colorizing i-Log by hands in Davinci Reolve can give a better result than OA5. Thank you.
Thanks for all of these tests and looking forward to your final review. D-Log M looks really good on skin tones, especially. I don't think this has anything to do with 8 vs 10-bit though. I think that currently, D-Log M is more refined. I am having an issue with the shutter/start stop record button on the AP2. Often, I can't release it quickly enough to stop the recording without engaging the cancel mode. When this happens, I release and the video keeps rolling. Do you have this as well?

The clouds gave it away every time. There have been a lot of complaints with the Ace Pro 2 and image softness. Have you noticed this? Have you found a fix?
Switching the camera from right to left can be confusing. In my opinion, the OA5 struggles with color accuracy, and when it comes to clarity, the Grace AP2 appears to offer better detail and sharpness.
10bit is 64 times of the colour produced by 8bit. The difference is huge. On an action camera may not be fully appreciated but it’s still there. As to I-log, as pointed out by petapixel, it causes some loss of resolution. If somebody does not need editing then AP2 is a perfect action cam but is far from being a pro camera.
Well I agree there is a difference in 8bit and 10bit but shown on TH-cam on 8bit monitors is what I point out here. Plus the small sensors don't give 10bit it's real force.

@@photorabz I can see/understand that, but from your clips and other reviewers on YT the Osmo Action 5 pro has a big problem, literally the information is lost from the footage(garbled, muddy, blochy footage), you can not recover that even if you shoot raw 12 bit.

Great test. It is easy to identify which is which, but not because it is 8bits or 10bits, but rather because of the difference in the color mode profile of each one. Both are good in this log profile, but I prefer the OA5 because it has less contrast and less sharpening filter, which makes editing easier.

So to answer your question, all of different scenes the best to me and always the right answer is the ace pro 2. What a huge difference in color, clarity, sharpness. So when you select i log with the ace pro 2,is the next step to perform color editing in the software? Or to apply a LUT? Because the footage already looks really great....
Thanks for making this kind of video. I've been researching and comparing these 2 cameras since the AP2 came out and it's been impossible to make a decision between the 2. This video might actually finally have done it. The way I used this video is, I essentially picked my favorite in each scene, compared them to the result and then tallied up the score. I thought the result would be fairly mixed but to my surprise the AP2 won 15 out of 17 times and when looking back at it, the 2 OA5 wins were scenes where I had a very hard time picking a winner. I'm going to go back to your previous video with the blind test and see if the results are comparable. If they are I might finally have my choice. Thanks a lot! Just one comment: I missed the labeling of the scenes with a number like you did previously. It would make tracking the scenes a bit easier.

the blacks were badly crushed in AP2 until you enabled face priority. could it be your colour correcting?
I added the lut from the websites of the brands. Did not color correct afterwards. Face priority is the solution for vlogs

Both can be used as webcam but both aren't webcams, so quality isn't good imo

It's easier to see the color limitation when there's a strong color gradient like a sunset where the sky has a transition of contrasting colors.

I like the Log of Action 5 better, but the Normal color is really bad (Ace 2 wins). If they fix this, then the choice will be obvious.
