Great reaction! I love the shoegazey, atmospheric vibe this album has. Feeling Myself is my favorite, it really encapsulates that whole hazy, dreamy feeling throughout Blue Weekend. Their sound has matured really well and I think this is the best sounding Wolf Alice album so far.
Thank you for watching! That song is special and so unique because of that reason. Great pick there! And yes, I have to agree, this is my favourite album by them now too 😀
I am new to Wolf Alice because of the rave reviews this album is receiving in the press, it doesn’t disappoint. The sound and vocals are totally on point, I’m looking forward to checking out the rest of their stuff! I saw an interview with Ellie and she talked about being inspired by Kate Bush and Lana Del Rey for this record. New subscriber here ❤️
I’m so glad you’ve joined the Wolf Alice family! I think I saw that same interview and I was so happy because Lana is my favourite artist. And yes, this album is a stunner. I can’t wait for you to hear the other albums 😍 Thanks for watching!
11:41 hahaha I was like that too and then I start jumping with it! It came from the soft How to make it okay? to this powerful track ! As someone that completely loves punk rock, I love those parts on their albums and loved this since the first time! 12:11 I totally love this sound, I think it's the synthesize, it's a nostalgic sound!
Omg your reaction to delicious things was exactly mine. It remains as my favorite track after many, many, many listens. The lyrics tell a story which I like and oh yeah those harmonies at the end all come together so perfect!
Excellent job reviewing the album of the year without a doubt. Can't wait to hear how several of these songs are going to translate live, but that's the sheer brilliance of their talent - almost all of their work sound even better live!
Thank you so much for watching! I’m going to agree with you there, this is the album of the year. I cannot wait to see them next year and hear some of these songs, you’re right, they are always so much better live 🙌🏼❤️
Love that this record is hitting so many others the same way it’s hit me, you really get swept up in the emotion and atmosphere of these songs and the band clearly poured every ounce of passion they had into it. I hope it becomes a huge hit, they deserve it
You couldn't be more right. They truly have found their sound and have captured a feeling that I feel stays with almost everyone who listens to each and every song. I would say this album is in my top 5, perhaps top 10 of all time, just due to the sheer authenticity and personality behind it. Thanks for the watch and for sharing your thoughts! ❤️
Delicious Things, Lipstick on the glass, and feeling myself are my favourites I think. I saw them do a short acoustic set in a London cinema on Thursday and it was amazing 🥰
This album is amazing, definetly the best of the year, and I'll dare say one of the best of the past 10 years at least. I've been following them since 2015 maybe?! and they quickly became one of my favs for sure. Maybe too soon to say, but "delicious things" is probably my favorite song ever from Wolf Alice. Is at least top 3. Loved the review, was really honest. You should try to do more of these Album reviews in the future :)
This is absolutely going to be a contender this year, if not the winner! After listening to the album another 4 times through, I have to say that my favourite is a battle between Delicious Things and The Beach II, so I am completely with you there. Thank you so much for those kind words, I am definitely planning more reactions in the future so stay tuned! ✌🏽
Lipstick on a Glass has some serious PJ Harvey vibes (specifically her album Stories from the City...). I love this album and play it almost every day. The Beach 1 and 2 are my favorites. They definitely know how to close an album. Solid review friend.
Hey, thanks for the watch! I couldn't agree more. The more I listen to this album, the more those two songs sound perfect starting and ending the story. Utter perfection. Thanks for commenting and for the support 😀
i fell in love with silk back when the trainspotting 2 trailer dropped lol but never looked into them further, which i really regret now! Im absolutely obsessed with blue weekend, its right up my alley and im seeing them in february next year and i cant wait!!
I remember when I first heard Play The Greatest Hits it didn't feel right in the album. I went to see the band at the start of this year and seeing the song played live it all just clicked. Such an awesome band, I think this is one of their best made albums yet.
@@ellielavender9247 I'm celebrating by watching all of the live versions of Visions Of A life I can find... try the videos I filmed at Camden Roundhouse after they won Q Music magazine best live act ...Don't Delete came out pretty good and Ellie nearly head butts me at the end of Giant Peach . Great Review of Blue Weekend by the way .
Wolf Alice is one of my all time favorite bands and I don't know anyone else who knows them, so this is a treat to watch someone else react to this album 💙 The Beach is the perfect intro song, one of my favorites on the album. My top three though are Smile, Play the Greatest Hits, and Feeling Myself; but all of them are amazing 😭 I'm seeing them Oct 30th and I'm fucking beyond pumped to see them again!!

@@ellielavender9247 I do!! But I also love their sweet and soft ones - like We're Not the Same, Leaving You, Heavenly Creatures, Baby Ain't Made of China, all the oldies 😍
Really well reviewed, and you’re favourites are mostly mine. I keep dithering between Delicious Things and No Hard Feelings. Ellie’s lyrics are exceptional
Thanks for watching! Good choices. I’m deciding between Delicious Things and The Beach II. Every song is a masterpiece though. Thank you for your comment and for the sub - I appreciate it! 🤩
I just love this band. They are just the real deal and deserve way more praise. The breadth and range on this album is just fantastic and it really shows how they have matured as a band. From straight pop, shoegaze, punk, ballads. It is my album of the year hands down. I love how Ellie has really matured as a singer, using her voice as an instrument sounding like Stevie Nicks and Kate Bush in places, especially in How can I make it o.k
@@ellielavender9247 OMG, you get the same influences as me Red Hot Chilli peppers, Shoe gaze, I get Fleetwood Mac, perhaps Haim, Lana Del Rey, and Operator Please especially on The Greatest Hits
The beach is very different sounding to this in many ways, but the middle section/build up section reminds me a lot of blue ridge mountains by fleet foxes The part where he goes 'In the quivering forest' sounds very similar to the part where Ellie goes 'Dust in my bones'
It makes such a difference when listening to the album in order, doesn’t it? I especially love the transition from Delicious Things to Lipstick On the Glass - it’s just perfect! Thanks for the watch and for sharing ❤️
Usually with an album I sit on the bus with my phone in my hand and sometimes skip a track . This one , phone goes into pocket and it plays in it's entirety.
I kinda bounced off this album when it first came out, I liked it but didn't really get the hype. I think I just wasn't really in a mindset to vibe with it (outside of Smile and Play the Greatest Hits) at the time. I gave it another shot since I'm gonna see them next week and yeah no I finally get it. Delicious Things, Safe From Heartbreak and The Beach II have been living rent free in my head the past few days and the entire construction of the album is so captivating. I still think She and Blush are my favorite tracks by them (primarily because of how amazing a story they make together when you consider the videos) and I think I MAYBE like Visions more overall, but goddamn this album captures a very specific jumble of feelings perfectly.
I've been meaning to listen to this album, a friend of mine told me about 'em. Right now I've been listening to St. Vincent's new album Daddy's Home, I'm not a big fan but I do enjoy some of their music, but I'm loving this new album. It's different, it's more a retro funk/soul sound, it's a great album, you should check it out.
My favourites now are Delicious things, Feeling myself, Lipstick on the glass, Play the greatest hits, The beach.... Hahahaha resuming, all of them! Amazing album! Amazing band! There's not even one song of them that I don't like! They have the mix of all the types of rock and pop I like, alternative, indie, punk, grunge, shoegaze... If they play metal, it'll be complete hahaha but that won't happen. 😂
Great selection there! I completely agree, they’ve made an album that is so varied in its sound and personality. I would love to hear a metal song by them to be honest haha 😂 Thank you for all of your comments and thanks so much for watching 🥰
Your review was very good. I've seen a number of them. "Play the Greatest Hit's" keeps coming up as the outlier. IMHO, I don't think it quite fits on the album and kind of breaks up the flow. I do think however, that it's a great song and is a real crowd pleaser . People went nuts when I saw them play in November. Made me glad I decided not to move into the pit (plus I'm in my 60's and don't want to get beat up that much!). The rest of the album his kept growing on me and I like it quite a bit more than Visions of a life.
I’m glad you enjoyed my reaction! I agree, this album is better than Visions of a Life. There is so much energy and character to it, not that Visions didn’t, it just brought so much more to the table!
Seeing them for the first time in October. Only just found out about m a couple months ago but now I'm obsessed. Do you know if they do meet and greets or just sign stuff either before or after the shows?
That’s so exciting! Just look at it this way, you’ve got years ahead of you to listen to all their albums and become obsessed like the rest of us. I saw them years ago and there wasn’t a meet and greet but who knows, there may be options to now! Thanks for watching and enjoy the gig 💙
it's a good album for sure. i've been listening to it every chance i get. i rank it above their last album, but below their debut (slightly). the second album, while good, i got tired of it rather quickly. the songs on blue weekend are beautifully written and composed. you can tell they took their time writing it. the only thing i wish it had were more heavy rocking songs like smile and greatest hits. those are the types of tracks i love most about them, and why i still rank their debut ahead of this one. it's just.. a bit too mellow for me. my favs: #1 lipstick #2 how can i make it ok (love the video for this one) #3 feeling myself
I agree that this album does have less rocky songs but I guess the slower songs such as The Beach II and The Last Man On The Earth are the kind that stay with me the most. Nothing really makes me want to obsessively hit replay, unlike some of their previous work. I think the production here is at fault. Everything’s worked to death. I wish they’d have released something as clever as Dance In Room Song by Sipper.
Thank you for saying that - I just make videos on things that I’m passionate about and hope that the passion comes through to you, the audience! I find it interesting that you’re not so much of a fan of this one. Completely your decision and there’s never a wrong answer to what you’re into. I agree that the production is focussed on a lot more on this album, but for me, it makes it sound so crisp and put together.
