I have this 4.3 LV3 engine in a 2016 Silverado. I have found no hesitation, sluggishness or clunky shifts at all with this engine over 107,000 miles of AFM function so far. TIP: IGNORE THE OIL LIFE MONITOR! Turn it off. The oil life monitor can and will extend your oil changes out to 7000-9000 miles! Change your oil EVERY 5000 MILES and you will have NO trouble with AFM in this engine…you will also have NO carbon buildup. These engines DEMAND CLEAN OIL. Keep it changed 5000 miles or less and keep trucking. Doing this since new I have also had ZERO oil burning between changes. No catch cans, no snake oil plug-ins in the OBD port, no deletes…CHANGE YOUR OIL and you don’t need this stuff.
Also wanted to add that youtube and the Internet forums are slam-full of 5.3 lifter horror stories…so far I have only found one (1) story of a lifter failure in the LV3…the engine had close to 200,000 miles on it and had been starved of oil. Change your oil.

I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 two-wheel drive with the V6 with 170,000 mi and it runs like a new truck still. I have never noticed it transition from V6 to V4 mode at all. I run a tank of e85 in it every other tank minimum. The power increase is incredible on e85. I would not disable AFM, unless you're going to be idling a lot.

T - Glad to hear that you've had a great experience. But, AFM is not the greatest system and has been proven to cause lifter failure. We will ALWAYS recommend to disable or delete AFM/DFM.

just purchased the boost afm disabler for my 2018 5.3 Silverado about two weeks ago as I type this. The driving experience is greatly improved, no more hesitation and smoother up and down shifting on the highway and city. only down side is that I did notice a 1-1.5 mpg drop but I never bought this truck to save gas, but to perform under pressure.
As for the 4.3, its a shame they discontinued it. though, I am not against the 2.7 as it does sound interesting. they would sell me on it for sure if it was reliable and easy to work on.

Hey Rohawk! Thanks for the support and we're glad our Boost device has met your expectations. Did you happen to buy it on Amazon?

I have a 2014 Silverado. The engine failed at 195k. I had a used engine installed with 70k. My engine failed probably due to lifer failure. My local Chevy dealer told me that these engines don't have AFM. That didn't happen until more recent years.

I take back my comments. The parts man at the dealership was wrong. I found documentation that says that the 2014 4.3 V6 has AFM.

Probably shouldn’t just plug in something to disable AFM and not address the high pressure fuel pump designed specifically to cater to AFM. I’ve got a fully stock 15’ with 102,000 and it runs like a top.
