    Just ordered one I have a 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 has 79,000 miles on it and I’ve been hearing a lot of good things about this device. I was just tired of the try going to V4 mode and back to the V8 all the time hope this product works 😊

    I have a 2014 Silverado 1500 with the 5.3 and it has 220k miles on it with the factory engine, if you don’t dog these engines and keep up on maintenance they are pretty reliable, I just recently got a afm disabler just to make sure

    I have heard battery drain issues with these devices but I did not recall you covering that issue. I just bought a new 2024 GMC with the 5.3 and would appreciate you explaining why the battery could drain when not in use. Thank you for the information!

      T - Our device plugs into the OBD2 port and even when the vehicle is off, it pulls a very minimal amount of power, 0.71mA to be exact, which happens to be the lowest on the market. You can leave your vehicle parked for 2+ weeks with the device plugged in and there won’t be substantial battery drain.
      However, if you are worried about it draining your battery, you can always unplug it every time you get out of your vehicle.

    I just bought a 2024 silverado lt trailboss with the 5.3L. After test driving the 2024 f150 xlt powerboost with the 3.5l, I was not at all impressed. Unfortunately I have always been a Ford guy. The silverado feels like a solid built pickup in comparison with plenty enough power. Both have their issues.

      So you're ok with the chance of lifters failing and grinding down cam lobes sending metal dust throughout the engine?

      I change oil every 3000miles and my 2019 GMC Sierra at4 right now 168.000miles on it nothing wrong with engine. The transmission the dealer replace at 60.000miles and still strong 😅

    • @michaelpfenninger548
      @michaelpfenninger548 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @hmdwn you will hear the engine ticking before that happens. If you drive it and hear the ticking then yes your wearing your cam. Anyone who ignores noises of their vehicle will have worn cams. Everyone else will just need new lifters

    THERE'S TALK that GM execs are inquiring of the Fed / EPA ....now that Trump is in power, to resolve this issue / recall etc....BY REMOVING THE AFM / DFM from affected trucks....that would be GREAT for ALL involved.

    So I am looking at cheap older work trucks. If you were buying something v8 2wd 8ft box for home projects, would you go with a 2013 4.8 (non afm) but stuck with a 4L60E? Or a 2014-2015 4.3 or 5.3 with afm but has the 6l80e?

    When they stopped using vortec that’s when shit hit the fan

      T - Pretty much!

    • @GarretThomas-f5c
      @GarretThomas-f5c 5 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      As much as I love the old 5.7 vortec 350 engines, the first generation 5.3 LS engines far exceed them. It went to shit when they started using the afm and dfm systems. You can still disable or fully delete it and have a rock solid engine. It's just costly. There's a reason why the LS swap is the most common engine swap today. They literally swap the 5.3 6.0 and 6.2 LS engines into everything, just like they did the 350 and 454 swaps back in the day.

    • @8020Media
      @8020Media  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Was it called an LM or L3 ? that was the last sbc 5.7 with roller cam , throttle bottle injection, electronic ignition commonly hooked up to the TH 400 .
      This engine sounded wonderful and lasted 500,000 miles on my old van .
      It didn’t have the hp or mpg of the vortex but was rock solid and I would buy it again if I could on a new truck .

    • @WBOS72
      @WBOS72 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Wrong. The LS/LT are far more reliable than any SBC. The issue is the AFM/DFM, delete it and zero issues.

    • @daxzus971

      Carbon buildup and other mechanical issues. That were mentioned in this video. Like for example would the higher octane fuel help it last longer the engine?

    • @8020Media
      @8020Media  หลายเดือนก่อน

      D - For naturally aspirated engines designed for regular fuel, it won't significantly impact longevity.
