I have heard battery drain issues with these devices but I did not recall you covering that issue. I just bought a new 2024 GMC with the 5.3 and would appreciate you explaining why the battery could drain when not in use. Thank you for the information!

T - Our device plugs into the OBD2 port and even when the vehicle is off, it pulls a very minimal amount of power, 0.71mA to be exact, which happens to be the lowest on the market. You can leave your vehicle parked for 2+ weeks with the device plugged in and there won’t be substantial battery drain.
However, if you are worried about it draining your battery, you can always unplug it every time you get out of your vehicle.

I just bought a 2024 silverado lt trailboss with the 5.3L. After test driving the 2024 f150 xlt powerboost with the 3.5l, I was not at all impressed. Unfortunately I have always been a Ford guy. The silverado feels like a solid built pickup in comparison with plenty enough power. Both have their issues.

So you're ok with the chance of lifters failing and grinding down cam lobes sending metal dust throughout the engine?

Have a 2023 GMC Yukon 6.2L with 15k. At dealership awaiting 3rd engine. I believe all were lifter issues. So mad, I am thinking 3.0 diesel now?

I will be getting a 2025 Suburban with the 5.3 engine. Any idea when the device will be coming for the 10 speed?

When they stopped using vortec that’s when shit hit the fan

As much as I love the old 5.7 vortec 350 engines, the first generation 5.3 LS engines far exceed them. It went to shit when they started using the afm and dfm systems. You can still disable or fully delete it and have a rock solid engine. It's just costly. There's a reason why the LS swap is the most common engine swap today. They literally swap the 5.3 6.0 and 6.2 LS engines into everything, just like they did the 350 and 454 swaps back in the day.

Hey so I’m looking to get a new 2024 Chevy trail boss with the 5.3 or the new f150 3.5 eco boost power boost which 1 would be more reliable?

J - It's hard to tell honestly since these vehicles and engines are so new. Just maintain them properly and they should both be good.

Go with the Chevy. You can disable the dfm for now and eventually delete it when and if you get to engine failure.

Wondering if you made a decision between these two vehicles? If so, what was the deciding factor? Thx!

I've got a 2001 gmc sierra with this engine with 350k miles. Should I go with same engine when I eventually replace it?

Yours doesn't have afm or dfm. Chevy didn't start using it until like 2007.
