    I put together an all-NUX pedalboard, just for fun - and it's great!
    Masamune>Monterey>Morningstar>Horseman>Time Force>Mod Core Deluxe>Atlantic>Loop Core Deluxe>Amp(s) and/or Solid Studio>Mixer>PA
    I still use my "secret weapon" pedal in front of all that. I'd tell you, but then I'd have to send you to the Black Lodge.

      Sounds decent I’ve been impressed with the NUX pedals I’ve purchased, Tape Core Deluxe an excellent pedal definitely my favourite, Mod Core Deluxe is a good multi modulation pedal for its price, most modulation styles are decent, Morning Star a great drive pedal totally suits my guitar style and love using.

    Great playing! These sound like they have a lot more gain than the normal Klon clones. I’ve heard other demos and there was a lot of noise...kind of a hallmark of “affordable” pedals.

      maybe, i've only ever heard an actual Klon but played plenthy klones. the Horseman is surprisingly quiet. NUX does a good job.

    Nice demo. I ordered one earlier they seem great and ......... just a stupid Idea : get 4 of them and then chain them and then .......... some full on 4 Horseman of the Apocalypse shall ensue I`m sure ! hah hah

    Awsome demo and cool pedal! I played the other night with two other guitar players and I think the only overdrive I stepped on the whole time was my Tumnus Deluxe. There is something special about the Klon style circuits.

      you know there is...i'd love to play a legit Klon if it wasn't insanely expensive and if Bill Finnegan didn't get any of my money

    Thumbs up. Great demo of the pedal. It's great you mentioned the NUX Blog with the background information to the pedal.
    I own 6 Klon Clones and the Horseman is one of my favorites.
    If i can make a steal on a used Horseman i'm going to swap the Schottky diodes to the magic diodes. Just for fun 😁

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      very nice! yeah, this is a true hidden gem amongst the endless amount of cheap Klones.
      it certainly wouldn't put you out a lot of money to try one out WITH the "magic diodes".

      Hello. Can you tell me if the nux horseman is noisy once it is turned on? I'm talking about rustle, not volume. Thank you.

      i don't have any issues beeing noisy, but i don't run it on very high gain.

    Hi, thank you for posting this video. The sound of this pedal is really very nice and I really like it, but before buying it I wanted to ask you if the pedal is noisy when you turn it on, if it has background hiss regardless of the amount of gain set. Sorry if I ask you but I can't figure it out from the video. I thank you.

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hey Silvio! Thanks for watching the video and I'm glad you enjoyed it.
      Any overdrive/distortion pedal is going to produce SOME background noise. It can be as little as a slight hum one second and then can be amplified because of your pickups, proximity to lights and other electrical sources, and whatever other pedals you have on in the chain.
      Luckily, this one produces very little noise that will become a distraction.
      Hope that helps!

    it seems to boost middle well, even at lowest gain

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      yep, the Klon has a mid bump but not the kind that a TS drive would have. it's mostly a bump in the Low Mids.

    • @sebastionhawk5565
      @sebastionhawk5565 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@SeanPierceJohnson that sounds really accurate...I was thinking that it has a real middle boost, but, i could not put my finger on whether it was really a low or middle boost, and, it sounded closer to the "mids." Low mids makes sense. Have you ever tried the JHS spooky mids? It seems that it could do this type of thing REALLY well. The JHS guy was showing it in a vid, and, I heard some REALLY close Alex Lifeson tones coming from paying around with that low-mid are i think...

      Mickey Settlemire thanks Mickey 👍 I’ve been playing it quite extensively since I wrapped this video and it still remains hard to decide which mode is my favorite.

    What is better in your opinion: Nux horseman or Nux plexi drive?

    • @SeanPierceJohnson

      I've never played the Plexi Drive so I can't compare the two. But based on their names one is a Marshall and one is a Klon...two completely different pedals.

    This pedal it's analog or digital? Smd components?

    • @SeanPierceJohnson
      @SeanPierceJohnson  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Like most drives it is analog. There may be some digital stuff to switch the modes and change the circuit but the clipping is analog.
      And yes, the pedal has surface mount components. You can’t have a pedal this small without there being some.
      But if you liked the sound, don’t let that scare you away.

      @@SeanPierceJohnson lol. I've mostly heard it pronounced like "new-x" but obviously some people pronounce it "nux" as it's spelled. In the movie Young Frankenstein with Gene Wilder, his character is trying to distance himself from his dark roots and be taken seriously as a scientist so he pronounces his name differently and this scene popped into my head lol. kind of obscure, i know lol. th-cam.com/video/nxxSIX3fmmo/w-d-xo.html
