It actually makes a kind of sense that Weyoun lets them go after the second story: with only one story, there's no point of reference for how Jake lies. Once he hears the time-travel one, he knowns that THAT is what Jake sounds like when he lies.

When someone asks for a list of my favourite Star Trek characters (not actors) I always list Jeffrey Combs, because he's a Star Trek character unto himself.

    • @sonicguyver7445
      @sonicguyver7445 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I couldn't believe it when I found out he actually auditioned for the role of William Riker. Obviously Johnathan Frakes got the role. But many years later Combs got his first role in DS9 as a skeevy business partner of Quark's in an episode directed by Johnathan Frakes. Since then he has gone on to play about eight characters throughout Star Trek. And all because the guy who beat him for the role of Riker let him get his foot in the door.

@@James670In the labyrinthine shadows of a realm untold, where the whispers of the damned echoed through the void, there resided a figure of unparalleled cunning and allure - Jeffrey Combs, the Devil himself.
Once a celestial cherub, now cast into the abyss, Combs possessed a sardonic charm that belied his sinister nature. His piercing blue eyes held the secrets of ages, and his serpentine tongue dripped with temptation.
As the symphony of human suffering reached his throne, a twisted parody of a mournful ballad emerged from his lips:
'Please allow me to introduce myself
I'm Jeffrey Combs, the Devil's own self
The one who whispers in your ear
And fills your heart with fleeting fear'
Combs's voice dripped with venom as he described the endless parade of horrors that plagued mankind: wars, plagues, and the gnawing pain of betrayal. Yet, amidst the darkness, a perverse flicker of empathy ignited within him.
'I have no sympathy for you
Your choices brought your torment true
But I'll play the part and shed a tear
For the souls that burn so bright and clear'
One fateful night, as the infernal flames danced around him, a desperate plea reached Combs's ears. A young woman named Sarah, whose lover had been claimed by death, begged for his intervention.
Intrigued by her resilience, Combs descended to Earth disguised as a mortal. He found Sarah alone in her sorrow, engulfed by a despair that threatened to consume her.
'My dearest Sarah, why should you grieve?
Your sorrow breeds the pain you believe
Let me show you all that life can be
A world of wonders, where you can break free'
Combs's words weaved their insidious tapestry around Sarah's mind. He tempted her with promises of eternal youth and forbidden knowledge. As she succumbed to his allure, the Devil's smirk spread across his face.
'You see, my love, I have a gift for you
A taste of paradise, a life anew
But know this, all deals have their cost
Your soul belongs to me now, at all cost'
Sarah's world crumbled as the reality of her bargain dawned upon her. The Devil's empathy had been a cruel illusion, a trap to lure her into his embrace.
And so, Jeffrey Combs, the Devil in all his glory, disappeared into the darkness, leaving behind only the echoes of his wicked symphony and the shattered remains of those who had foolishly trusted his deceptive charm.

And remember, this specific Weyoun died in a "mysterious transporter accident" soon after he was hanging out with this scientist who claims he's being chased by the orthodoxy. Although it's implied it might've been Damar, the scientist says his previous associates died in mysterious accidents as well. Clearly he was right all along and whoever is trying to keep his secrets of immortality good sleep bed secret, is so powerful they can take out top Dominion officials no problem to keep them quiet.

Shields around the station are not up unless there is red alert, which there was not for this event. Meaning, free to beam on/off. Perhaps some station sensors would throw out an alert, as I'm sure Odo wouldn't like the idea of a weapon materializing out of the blue onto the station. But the Dominion could easily have that hacked I'm sure. Beyond the technicals, really doubt the Dominion cares if someone throws up a fuss about it
