I absolutely would not be surprised. I could see Martok instantly understanding and taking a somewhat fatherly attitude towards the whole thing, just like Sisko did.

Um......no just the opposite. Jake (Jack?) knew his friend had a problem and he knew his dad could help his friend with the problem, so he got his friend to open up so that he could get the help he needed. That's what good friends do.

The real question is why does every Ferengi have one except Quark?? I’m guessing from a production standpoint it’s a cheap way to save on makeup costs for the back of their heads for characters that are usually secondary, whereas Quark is one of the main characters and so gets the full treatment. But there is never an in-universe explanation given for why he doesn’t have one.
