This scene highlights one of my favorite aspects of DS9; how it shows us the day-to-day minutiae of life in the 24th Century, and that it's not just a story about Starfleet or humans, but of all sorts of different species of people, from all different walks of life. It makes Roddenberry's vision of the future feel more lived-in, and therefore more relatable. There were lots of scenes like this in DS9, which is one of the reasons why it's my favorite Trek series.
