  • In celebration of the release of Solo: A Star Wars Story, we're going to be pimping out the Millennium Falcon as it's seen in the film. But this time around we're giving it the wall mount treatment...... and a bit more weathering!
    Enjoy!

    Disney stores had an amazing one that looked screen accurate and had all the same play features without the use of the the force whatever 2.0 but it was more accurate and sleeker looking for the exact same price. Glad I picked one up

    Oh yeah that’s honestly my favorite part lol, dirt from the drive way!!! That’s the O.G. way from back in the day. Just grabbing a cup full of dirt to scatter along our figures base plate. To give it that authentic real look, ya digg..

    There's a particular liquid nails that's good for foam, as well as an uber-pva in a yellow bottle at bunnings called 'prep'.
    Also have you ever worked with a can of expanding foam? Gives great rocky formations naturally.

    Revell makes great model kits that are great to customize the way you do. there are very few to no screw holes to muck up the look of it. fairly cheap and they have done lots of star wars ships. your work always amazes me and goes beyond whats on the shelf in stores. you actually make them worth the cost. great job.

  • @airamplane1234

    They designed the exhaust fume marks wrong. They shouldn't all go in different directions like they're following the circle, they should all go in the opposite direction to the way the ship is moving, so they should all go straight back, like the middle one, not at angles

    • @MechaBorne
      @MechaBorne 6 ปีที่แล้ว +8

      It's been like that since the OT, but I don't know enough about fluid dynamics to know whether or not they're correct

    • @Blue_JayC
      @Blue_JayC 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Airamplane123 It might just be that the exhaust fumes are exiting the vents at a speed higher than the air rushing over the top of the hull (which would be unlikely, due to the extreme speeds the Falcon travels, [unless a vacuum like space handles fume velocity differently than an oxygenated environment like Earth and just lets it continue like the waves a boats make in water])

      Nnnnnnnnnnneeeerrrrrrrdddddd!!!!!!

    • @warhawk05
      @warhawk05 6 ปีที่แล้ว +12

      The Falcon isn't always flying. Upon landing at locations with wet environments like gas, fog or plain old rain, the liquid washes all the crud from the exhaust vents and it naturally runs down the curve of the hull. When the Falcon starts up and takes off, the wet mess is fanned out and blown dry. Over time staining the hull. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

    Because of you, I am in the process of trying out my own custom collectable with an AT-AT popcorn bucket from Disney World. Its very detailed but has an weird marbled grey, so im repainting it a more uniform grey. Now i need your help. How do you prepare your shoe polish for weathering on your work, do you mix with water? And do you have any tips on simulating blaster bolt marks on the AT-AT?

    • @Chukijay
      @Chukijay 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Ryan Brooks shoe polish isn’t diluted. Use it as-is. Use cheap stuff, as it’s often thinner and easier to start with.
      For blaster bolt marks, take a thin, metal rod or something like a flat head screwdriver and score the side of the thing to show damage. Paint it with a metallic silver base, then go over it with a color, and when you sand it all back, you’ll see the metallic paint and it will appear as bare metal. The score mark will give it some texture and depth that will be made more dramatic by the paint and weathering. For larger bolt damage, take a wood-burning Iron or soldering iron and with light heat, run it down the side where you want the damage, following with same paint routine.

    • @DatBlueVQ
      @DatBlueVQ 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ryan Brooks For blaste bolt marks perhaps use a q-tip dipped in black paint and just press it onto the figure and roll it slightly and gently. Not sure.

      Trust, while chris is talented, ILM, Weta, legacy effects, all those companies, chris doesn’t stand too much out. The amount of sheer speed and precision these guys deal with is just remarkable.
      In otherwords, without being harsh to chris, because to his credit, he is much better than most of us, he is still 1/5 the talent of practical effects companies.
