This mmo is really good in my opinion . During my playthrough I was stuck in victory road with all my Pokemon dead with just one barely alive and no repels or anyway to get out . So I asked another player who was also going through victory road for some revives and repels . He gladly helped and i gave him a rare candy in return . You can't have wholesome moments like this in a normal Pokemon game
The real challenge of the game is trying to stop Nintendo from sending the maker a cease and desist

@@uwuowo1773 they technically don t use the roms, their whole code is just the modification of a rom that they don t even offer, the user has to get it own rom, so he s technically the only one doing smth illegal, and yeah pokemmo players are criminals
Yeah they don’t sell or distribute the roms themselves. All PokeMMO does is create code that reads the roms that people acquired and edit them. Also nintendo tried to shut them down in 2013 but failed because PokeMMO runs on its own code. Just uses the roms as a base blueprint to run

I've tried PokeMMO out, and in a way it made me feel like a version of myself is in that universe, going on a journey with my poke companions while looking stylish, in a reasonable way, and reliving my childhood as much as possible.
That live action footage is looking crisper than ever! Finally was able to take the time to sit down and watch this video, and I can confirm, Pokemon makes even less sense now :).
Pokemon can be as simple as use fire type pokemon against the water type vs the whole thing with Drapion

When it comes to legendaries I'm the kind of person that wouldn't use them but still wants to catch them. I agree it's boring to just throw a master ball at it and call it a day, so I found it really fun in Let's Go when you had to beat the legendary before getting the opportunity to catch it and I wish that was in other pokemon games too.
Also imagine mulitplying the legendarys hp by 5 times then making it a raid battle where the legendary can summon help is amazing I want that in main series games.
PokeMMO has a legendary update coming end of this year, or early next year where they will be adding most of the legendaries for everyone to catch and such. Currently their order of priority update wise is hidden abilities, then legendaries, hopefully raids/co-op boss fights, then the addition of johto region. I’ve been playing for a while and kind of have my foot on the inside with a couple of the guys writing the code and thats their plan as of right now
You are Arceus, the creator of the universe; God. A ten year old captures you in a Pokeball for fun and then puts you into a storage box forever because it wouldn't be fun to use you in battle.
There was another MMO called Pokémon Legends where to get a legendary, you must defeat it in a battle where it shrouds itself in a magic mist and becomes level 300 (100 is the usual limit for your pokemon as in other games), and if you manage to defeat it, it will deem you a worthy trainer and join your team as a level 70-100 one (exact level varies depending on the species). Unfortunately this game got taken down by Nintendo earlier this year and I still miss it.

One thing I also love about PokeMMO is they increased the difficulty. Not by much but I actually have to think and plan about how I'm gonna take on the Gym Leaders and the Elite 4 instead of just sending out 1 Pokemon and sweeping them all.

This review is spot on and I can agree this IS the best Pokémon game, you get access to really cool stuff, the difficulty is mindblowing (I've been going through Sinnoh and I struggled with Byron, FREAKING BY-) and it's kind of a perfect balance. Also, your humor is incredible and I'm subbing for that.
Edit: Thanks for talking about the Giratina thing. It caught me very unexpected as well when I fought it and I was flipping off the whole battle. It was REALLY tough.
See I actually had a pretty easy time with Byron. My bane of my Sinnoh run was Crasher Wake actually
yeah that was cool, but I would personally prefered that he would have talked about events like the one from christmas where you become a bot and fight for reasons and the halloween one where you give candy's to a pumpkin and suddenly fight the devil, all for neat costumes and particles for your pokemon.

I was surprised after watching the video to find that you're not some huge mega-channel with hundreds of thousands of subscribers. The production quality is amazing, the information is accurate and presented well, and the video tackles everything that a review should (but many reviews don't). Incredible job!

I think the most important thing is that there are multiple regions - pretty much the only feature I have wanted more of since playing Gold... and the ONLY feature that has never come back (except during the remakes HG/SS).

I feel your last point about most of the postgame and side features being unimplemented should've been mentioned a bit earlier into this, but it's still an amazing video man, holy damn. as a pokemmo player I'm happy you're bringing more attention to this amazing game, and I share your sentiment with almost everything you said, nevertheless i've been constantly let down by the lack of side content for regions that were introduced multiple years back. But i'll still come back to this game atleast once a year, it's just an amazing time with friends. Have an amazing one dude!!

the main post game thing is either pvp shiny hunting or fooling around in the chat but that last one didn't seem all that liked by the staff back when i played about 2 years ago. they seemed to really enjoy bashing people's head in for mild shit and overall ruining the experiance. i even proposed to make a "guide" to standardize moderation so we could finnaly know what would get our head bashed in and what was okay instead of vague rule that are arbirairly enforced and got effectively told to fuck off with that by a senior game master. they kept saying they cared about players but their actions didn't reflect that all that much.
@@theprettypetard2524 i talk in both the spanish chat and the English chat, and oh my god the mods in the spanish chat are so unbelievably laid back. its hard to imagine pokemmo chat being strict since i mostly look at the spanish chat
@@phommonteros i think djinn was the main one dealing with spanish chat back when i played and yeah the dude is real nice and laid back. when he was around in the english chat you didn't have to live in fear of being muted/banned for mild shit. but it seems most of those dealing with en chat when i left where just going full retard to the point that a dude hung around in the channel chat for a few days being racist has shit and staff did jack shit untill he said the n word. once he did that the guy was gone in so little time. it was so bad with the n word crazy moderation that so much of mentioning it's existance or even saying the letter n alone was enough to get people banned/muted. when they went crazy with moderation they managed to basically kill channel chat since nearly no one dared to speak in it and even global chat went silent for periods of time when it was previously pretty much always active.

PokeMMO feels like my childhood dream. The five generations, the ones that made me love Pokémon before X and Y came and disappointed me, are there, with my favourite graphics, good multiplayer and just enough difficulty. So, yeah, the best thing that could have happened to the nostalgia rotten eleven year old that lives in my heart.

@@tubesurfer7776 I fully agree, but when we brush off the poetic dust of nostalgia and the opinionated good/bad bias that Pokemon brings with that dust, we know they're not going to do that. Let's be real here, they likely will never do it. That's why PokeMMO exists. That's why games like Temtem exist (or shouldn't exist if they're going to end up as a live service game with an expensive price tag covered in microtransactions and battle passes at the end of the day; looking at you Temtem). Nintendo is just not interested in making an MMO. I doubt they ever will be. There is a silver lining though. If Nintendo won't do it, the fans will, and they can't stop it no matter how hard they try.

The difficulty level in Pokemmo is pretty tough sometimes which is amazing.
Like in Hoenn, Wallace's team is merciless with flame orb + guts Facade spam.
If you don't have a fighting type you will struggle.

If you're still working on it a year later after you've posted your comment, don't let it be like Temtem with microtransactions and battle passes like a F2P game. It won't go well, trust me. If you're still seeking more inspiration on top of looking at PokeMMO for material, look at Coromon.

I play Pokemon Revolution Online sometimes. The rarity tiers are kinda brutal though. Same with event form chances. But the tight knit community makes it amazing! Not to mention, all of the custom stories and events. ♥

Great reseach and explenation
PokeMMO would be a super fun game for me if they didn't so blatantly mess with the RNG chances. Making the games harder is great, but most of the difficulty increase seems to be from unfair dice rolls rather than actual difficulty balance.
Me and 2 friends started in gen 5 and were astonished by the difficulty spike from what we were used to, and we noticed rather quickly that the difficulty of pokemmo comes from the fact that I'm pretty sure that all the pokemons you fight in trainer battles have either perfect IVs or really good IVs, plus they all have moves that are allowed, that they learn, but that they should learn way later or are directly TMs, making it unpredictable. You may think that you have the type advantage against a pokemon but nope, it suddenly has a super effective against your pokemon that will oneshot it. Also the items, so many good items at low lvls like what the hell. And yeah, rng seems to be a bit rigged, I've had won battles that suddenly turn into a nightmare because of a rather suspicious crit (more than once), and I remember a battle against one of the trainers of the fourth unova gym, which managed to make my pokemon flinch 3 times, paralize 2 times, miss 3 times, all that in 11 turns. Turned an easy win against 2 pokemon into a back to the hospital trip

Also the only thing I find annoying is fucking wild pokemon being little shits with status effect, I can't understand how people can complain about the most important battles being difficult when it is the first problem pokemon games have , they are desing for brainless 3 years old kids.
Also if you get flinched or paralized a lot in a fight is probably their pokemon having Serene Grace
(This Pokemon's moves have their secondary effect chance doubled ) I have togekiss with the same abilities and he's fucking broken
While I was fighting Glacia in PokeMMO her Walrein managed to freeze my pokemon 3 consecutive times. Like, when my gyarados froze I switched it and them Swampert froze on the switch. I switch again and Gardevoir takes a freeze too. Either I have terrible luck or this is a serene grace walrein that shouldn't exist.

Fun fact about the gen 4 gts and trade evolutions, there was actually a glitch where if you put a trade evo pokemon into the gts and go make any trade, and then pull your mon back out, it'll evolve! Evolved my shiny Onix that way cuz I didn't trust anyone to help me lol

Honestly I think PokeMMO's difficulty is perfect and love nuzlocking it, and making legendaries feel legendary is a huge plus, though they're kind of moving away from that now by making certain ones permanently catchable.

@@ViddysVids Started with the legendary beasts, and they've added the birds and Shaymin since. Not sure exactly how it is with the newer ones but with the beasts one is available every month at a very low encounter rate and you can only catch one each month.
