Eric, that was incredibly clear and helpful, especially from a best practices and shortcuts perspective - thank you for taking the time to do it and even more for sharing!
Hi there, I had a question: how did you create the 3 buttons (Food Sales, LBWNA Sales, Mercantile Sales) on 0:57 min where you can click the button and flip between views? How do you put it together? I'd really appreciate a video on that. Thanks!
Hi! If I remember correctly, those are just floating icons. You can download and deconstruct the dashboard here: public.tableau.com/app/profile/eric.parker/viz/DecisiveData-Restaurants-HallakBrewingDashboard/SalesDashboard
@@onenumbertableau Sounds good, thank you so much! One last question: how did you make little icons on summary tiles format according to the layout of the dashboard (e.g.: the little icons of hamburger, drink, and t-shirt always stay in the upper right corner of the summary tile. Please let me know. Thanks, I appreciate you!
@@anastasiiaholovchenko9987 You're welcome. It's a fixed size dashboard so they shouldn't move! If you were really committed to an automatic or range size dashboard, you could probably use layout containers creatively to ensure the icons stayed in the correct spot. I want to track the change in numbers presented in the summary tiles as the dashboard refreshes each day. From googling I found out metrics can help you do it, but it isn’t giving me a timeline. Have any recommendations?
Hmm, I don't. Tableau isn't really designed to be a data capture/storage tool. I'd look at how you can get those same numbers and run a script that would store them in your database. I think that would be a better option.
Is it possible to change the borders of each tile when you have multiple tiles in a single worksheet? I have one measure that's segmented in three parts by a dimension. I'd like to change the color of the border for each segment. Is that possible without having to create three separate worksheets?
Hey Michael! It took quite a bit of finagling but it is possible! Here's an example I just made and uploaded to Tableau Public. public.tableau.com/app/profile/eric.parker/viz/SummaryTileswithColoredBordersExample/SummaryTileswithColoredBordersExample?publish=yes I don't have time to shoot a video right now explaining the methodology but our videos on Conditional Formatting (studio.th-cam.com/users/video4SzAZEsGKNI/edit) and how to highlight an entire row (th-cam.com/video/vAuJcRzv4Ow/w-d-xo.html) should hold some of the clues.

Very Nice, thanks! I am at 15:03 time of your video and I am not getting that cursor to drag it up and make it smaller.
If you click in the background of the object, does a gray border appear that you can drag?

Wow you got to build it from scratch in Tableau, In Power BI its prebuilt and you just drag and drop your measure into it
There are probably some slightly simpler methods but you might lose some of your control over font sizes, etc. so I like to do it this way!
👍
