I have searched for such a presentation. All others are doing only demonstration. Yours is really technical. Wonderful presentation. It shows your knowledge not information you have. This is the very few youtube channels, I have commented. wonderful child
Hello Bakarishnan - Thank you so much for such a kind and thoughtful message, I really appreciate it. I am happy to hear you found the video helpful. I appreciate your support, and thank you again for sharing your comment!
You've helped me so much. I can't thank you enough. You are an amazing instructor. Not everyone explains Tableau subject matter in the depth you do, and I appreciate the step-by-step detail. You are hands down the best!
Best video tutorials (for tableau) but in general I've come across. Well laid out, very clear instructions that follow the video precisely! Particularly critical when it comes to the challenges of using containers and designing dashboards. Thanks so much - very helpful
Thank you so much an the amazing videos. Instead of spending money to purchase a course we can learn from your videos. That's Great. Helping people to learn and grow. Best wishes to You.
Thank you for your amazing tutorials! Although I'm a Tableau novice, it is easy for me to comprehend the subject matter thanks to your instructional format. I'm working on a dashboard for my capstone in data analytics and felt that it looked boring and incohesive. I still need a lot of practice, but your tips helped me join all of the elements that I needed for my executive summary.
Hello Thomas - thank you for sharing and I am happy to hear you're finding these videos helpful :) Tableau's a great tool, I hope you'll find it more fun as you learn more about it.
Hello Nishi - I create a calculated field that has an empty string - two double quotes with nothing in between. Other times I also have used a single space. This is really more of a cosmetic touch. Hope this helps!
Wonderful video. Thanks. One Quick Question: When I publish the dashboard online then it works fine with Desktop. As soon as I select different layout e.g. iPad, the alignment goes off. How do I make the layout fix for whatever screen size I am choosing?
Good tips which i can use in my daily work, Also, can i know how do you plan a dashboard development? 1. is it first business requirements , then a sample sketch, then data shaping and then first draft of visualization ( this is what i follow for Operational or Strategic dashboards) or 2. Business requirements, data shaping, data analysis , then combination of various analysis charts to produce a storytelling ( this is what i use for Analytical dashboards) if you put some light on it or make a video, it will help many people. I find many Developers face this dilemma when they start to build dashboard, how to plan a successful dashboard and build them in a iteration model.
Thank you for this suggestion Aditya. In my experience, it has always been a collaborative approach and the strategies may depend on who our primary end users are. There are times when storyboarding and sketching together works well, and there will be other types of audiences where bringing some prototypes are more useful. My team works very closely with other functional groups, and we go through iterations. It is never a one shot deal. During our meetings, we try to focus on requirements in these cross functional meetings and I've found that that helps. It also influences the strategy for our deployment. I think one of the biggest challenges I see (and have experienced) is switching your hat from a technical person to a business stakeholder. The views and priorities are different. Tableau is helpful because it also aids us in these conversations. This is a great suggestion, will definitely look into creating this video in the next few ones. Donabel
Awesome stuff and really useful a lot. Also it would be great if you could share some inputs on 'Device preview' and 'size' panel in dashboard layout. Thanks again for all your efforts which helping us in enhancing our Tableau skills.
Intuitive way to create dashboard. One query, you created BAN worksheet for KPI data, how to create this? I have seen some videos but they have separate worksheet for each KPI but you have all KPIs in single sheet (BAN). Have you explained this earlier in any of other videos? If yes, please link below.
Thanks Shashank - yes I do have other videos with more discussions on how to create the BANs. Here is part 1 of a 2-part tutorial: th-cam.com/video/cGa7QDeueTA/w-d-xo.html
Do you experienced any issues when using only floating objects? Distortion,...? So far I always used tiled but would like to switch to floating only Thanks
Thanks for your videos!! I find them very helpful and well explained. I started to work in the BI field using Power BI, and the transition to Tableau has been tough. Is there any book or set of courses you recommend to become as proficient as you are, I am highly interested in learning more about the "theory" behind Tableau.
Hello Diego - thank you for your feedback. I like Joshua Milligan's books (Learning Tableau), and I also refer to the online documentation a lot (they've really improved the online documentation over the years). I also try to watch a lot of the Tableau Conference recorded videos - many of them have great content.
Hi Sqlbelle! How to create Interactive Map in Tableau? As an input, I should pass Real time Address and Map should show that Lat/Long on Map. Just like Google Map. Is it possible?
Can you please let me know, is there any possibility to create a Gradient text with colors? Ex: in PPT we have option called "View-> Color" and it will give like multiple colors for the text
Sorry - learned my lesson. Newer tutorials don't have the background anymore. This was one of my earlier tutorials, and I didn't realize how much it competed with the actual tutorial.
Oh god this is crazy your tips are really basic and subtitles are on black background which help for me as deaf to read this is crazy other accounts don’t consider this! 😅
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I have removed background music in my later tutorials. Am also in the process of reuploading others without the music.
This is great stuff! I am so glad I found your channel!
Thank you so much for your comment Yolinda, I very much appreciate it! Glad you found it useful 🙂

Great video. Can you tell what calculation you used to Crete the blank text field, that you talk about at around 18:00? thank you so much.

Thank you Prateek!
Wonderful video. Thanks. One Quick Question: When I publish the dashboard online then it works fine with Desktop. As soon as I select different layout e.g. iPad, the alignment goes off. How do I make the layout fix for whatever screen size I am choosing?
That dashboard size do you choose? If you select "Fixed Size" it shouldn't resize on different devices, unless you have a Device Designer layout.

love your channel :))
Thank you Jiatong! Very much appreciate your note! 😊
Great tips. Please reduce or eliminate the background music.
Great video. Please lower the music volume by >50% :)
How did you become that good at Tableau ?!!
I am still learning :) ... I think with my work (employment) requiring Tableau work helps.
The music is so annoy😢
Thank you! Yes I have removed the background music in the later tutorials.
These are useful videos, but the background music is a bit loud, and probably not necessary at all.
SQLBelle = Tableau Ninja
:) would love to be one .. still learning every day :)
whats the point competing with the loud background sound???
Sorry - learned my lesson. Newer tutorials don't have the background anymore. This was one of my earlier tutorials, and I didn't realize how much it competed with the actual tutorial.
Very nice explanation ,only thing that background sound!! :( very annoying
Thank you Diksha, I appreciate the feedback. I have removed the background music for the later tutorials.
@@sqlbelle Thankyou for the consideration
Music on background lowers the video quality. I can barely hear.
Thank you for the feedback!
Oh god this is crazy your tips are really basic and subtitles are on black background which help for me as deaf to read this is crazy other accounts don’t consider this! 😅
Nice tutorial but the loud background music is pretty debilitating honestly.
plz don't play background music .....it's topic part of career........?
That music is disturbing
Thank you for your helpful feedback
please remove background music .
thank you
Please remove the background music, or at least turn it way down.
Thank you for the feedback. Yes, I have removed background music in my later tutorials. Am also in the process of reuploading others without the music.
