I agree that Mairsil is repetitive. People don't focus down the Mairsil player enough tbh. Usually hard to get rid of too, because they usually get blink effects like Aetherling to protect him
He was probably trying not to draw too much hate towards him early on... if he had done that, Mark would've probably not dropped his Magus and everyone would've ganged up on him.
So, let's be clear. Mark literally handed the game to Muddstah on a glistening sliver platter by shutting off both decks that could have pressured him while he was assembling the Marisil contraption. Kingmaking at it's absolute finest.
Great game Mudstah! I forgot "Tree or perdition" was a card and now I'm immediately slotting it into my Araumi deck to deal 27 to everyone at the table! 😈
The MOMENT that magus resolved I knew it was going to set Mairsil up for the win. Mark's threat assessment attacking Derek was also super off. Ah well. Such is magic. Good game muddstah!
Funny thing just happened 5 minutes ago: I was drinking water and then heard the " A S S E M B L I N G K A L D R A O N C E M O R E T O M E R" It was so unespected that i couldnt stop spitting on my tv
My friend plays Mairsil and the biggest issue he faces is that the deck completely collapses without Mairsil being out. While it can easily go off, it’s kind of the same struggle with Kalia where people know to just focus the commander to hose the deck. (But to a lesser extent with Kalia is the deck can function ok without her still)
Hey Muddstah, I've noticed that the goblin intros that feature PJ, from Commander Replay, and Jolt539 don't have a credit on them like the other intros do.
@5:26 I was shitting bricks seeing Mark block with his last creature. If Chris drew a land he could have equipped the Worldslayer and activated Akiri for indestructible! (Mairsil probably wouldn't have let it happen)
He was probably trying not to draw too much hate towards him early on... if he had done that, Mark would've probably not dropped his Magus and everyone would've ganged up on him.
@Andrew- The fact you could have knocked two people to four early was for me a mairsil player the best feeling because i knew people were dead before they even knew it😂😅
I'm sorry, but the audio is a bit off on this one. More than usual, but I think it's louder than normal and with more movement than usual (being when you move closer and further from the mic)
I dn't know if he did it, because it's hard to tell, but Derek has to show all the cards when he had the Silvan Library trigger with the Oracle as well
Its the kind of deck that tends to get focused down once people know what its capable of, so its a good test of your own ability to do stuff without looking too threatening. Muddstah did a great job of that this game by taking several hits he technically didn't have to as well as not using the nastier abilities he had access to straight away, instead letting his opponents beat on each other and then play cards that ended up hindering their own ability to stop him.
Chat I'm turning Syr Gwen into plain Boris equipment, but I'm deciding between commanders. Wondering between Akiri, Kobold and equipment partners, and the new commander legends pre con commander. Anyone have experience / success between that set?
Akiri is the best, kobold and equipment partner is more on the meme side, but fun as well, the precon commander is "bad" (playable, but not as good as the others in term of fun or success). I switch depending on the playgroup, if it is strong i go with akiri value, if the decks are more memey, i go with the kobold for the hammer combo
The new precon commander is good but you will need to run lots of ways to protect him as he will be targeted with removal every time you play him but he can draw a lot of cards and hit pretty hard when built properly
I'm waiting for some more cards to come out that do things like Transmogrifying wand. I just want to build Marasil with a bunch of ability to change all my opponents stuff to goats, frogs, insects etc. Until then I can't stand the combo centric version of Marasil, which is pretty much the only version to play at this point.
pendant of prosperity, jace's archivist, arcanist the omnipotent, disk, ætherling, anger for value, there is more and anthoplasm/sage of hours combo for inf turn with 5 lands, or gilded lotus(mana vault/thran di and pili-pala.), staff og domin and quicksilver elemental for inf mana/draw. tutor is diffently buried alive and intuition, merchant scroll to find one of them

I know, right? From the moment he exiled Tree, they should have been focusing him down. Then he exiled Hateflayer, I was like.... isn't that just.. game?
I really dislike playing against Mairsil, because you can basically do nothing against her unless you prevent cards from entering graveyards or counter her every single time she gets played. With most commanders there is a point where you can interrupt a combo, but with her all combo pieces are lying safe in exile where you cant do anything to deal with them.
Mairsil is a guy. The obvious best defense against Mairsil is to not let his owner ever untap with him and get rid of all haste enablers. Unless they get something like Aetherling in exile with a cage counter, it's hard for them to fight through consistent hate. Cursed Totem, Phyrexian Revoker, Pithing Needle and Sorcerous Spyglass can also stop Mairsil completely, while Torpor Orb at least stops him from getting more cards with cage counters.
Aven Wind Guide only grants vigilance to creature tokens, so his other birds didn't have it. Then he blocked with it and it died anyhow, so it's own vigilance never mattered.
Couldn't Andrew of won as soon as he untapped with the spark double? At the very least he could eliminate Chris by tapping down his blockers, swinging in and then using the tree ability.
@@MTGMuddstah like when any creature was unblocked, you could have put them to 4 life to kill them once damage was assigned. Or when the player accepted the extra cards from the library.
@@MTGMuddstah I still have my deck and haven’t updated it since I made it (spark double would be a great addition). It’s just boring and wins either with your combo, or going infinite. Can we get a counter every time Kaldra is assembled on this channel before Tomer does it on Commander Clash?
It won't work Tomer has already assembled Kaldra a long time ago on S4 E11.

Thing about killing Marisil is that it gets more abilities when you play it.
I nearly died laughing at the kaldra call out to Tomer
At 5:23, why didn't you block with Mairsil and activate it to swap to someone's life total? And again at 6:01?
I’m wondering the same thing
Because he wouldn't have died at that point. I wanted to get another ETB trigger from him.
He was probably trying not to draw too much hate towards him early on... if he had done that, Mark would've probably not dropped his Magus and everyone would've ganged up on him.

Great win Muddstah!
Considering how close Viashinos worked along with Goblins on Shiv, it is really surprising how many times Muddstah slaughtered the word ''Viashino''.
