I love the fact that when someone is using an Alter Sleeve card you put it up on the screen with the altered art!!! Absolutely beautiful!
Gotta wonder why Chris wasn't putting the Jitte on any of the creatures he was swinging with, thereby gaining counters that he could have remove for life to save himself.
Not that it matters, but Wash Out bounces all permanents of chosen color, not only creatures.
These decks seemed to be slightly less aggressively competitive than usual and I’d like to see more decks like this, this game was fun to watch!
A lot of people are questioning why Chris didn't go for the Godo combo...
Considering his plays in the first main phase, especially dropping Helm of the Host first, it's a safe assumption that he drew Godo during combat, from Akiri's triggers. Otherwise, he would've probably gone for the combo.
I liked the music. It added a sense of dread, almost as if the game new it was going to end dramatically
I'm sorry but dockside with a helm and a blade? Seriously? Everyone thought that was fine? Lol
I think he also played Godo after playing greaves, and a helm with a bunch of treasure. I feel like I missed something.

Does Chris not have any lifelink equipment? Like he was at 1 life for multiple turns, and had multiple tutors available O.o
Seriously, I was screaming at the screen. Shadowspear, Batterskull, Loxodon Warhammer? It's hard to imagine an equipment deck not running at least one of those.
He had a Jitte for multiple turns without attacking with it. Not lifelink but it can gain some decent life over several turns
@@corhydrae3238 I just put together my own Akiri list, and I at least have Shadowspear and Basilisk Collar to give lifelink options. I was also surprised that he didn't have something like Settle the Wreckage to grab off of Sunforger to stop that big attack.

Akiri looked great this game.
Slight misplay during Chris's attack on turn 8: he was supposed to draw only two cards instead of three.
Akiri will trigger once for each player being attacked, regardless of how many equipped creatures are attacking that player.

Why does Derek put his Nissa into the graveyard after using her ultimate (@ 16:03)? Shouldn't she come in with 10 loyalty due to doubling season and then still have 2 loyalty left over after using her - 8?
It was a mistake on Derek's part. She should have still been around.

I am currently ordering the cards to upgrade Obuun into my first commander deck. Seeing many of the same cards I picked play out so well is very encouraging .
I love that game! Assembling Kaldra, playing Krakens, new Commanders... it has it all
OH that Blade of Selves attached to the Dockside Extortionist play is spicy, I tip my hat to you, Mr. Fellow Equipment Enjoyer.
The new 2 drop boros creature in commander legends that gives double strike to equipped creatures will push Akiri even further! Great game.
This game shows why when a Galecaster hits the field you either kill it on sight or kill the player controlling it.

For leviathan decks, Simic and sultai are much better colors due to ramp. My Arixmethes decks wins rather consistently thanks in part to the big mana it generates, with the commander to boot (plus helps when you have a few infinite mana generators). But I really liked the dimir attempt, and I'd love to do a Simic sea monster deck that incorporates the best of both (or all 3) world's of leviathans, krakens, squids, whales, and whatever other sort of monsters fit in (mostly stuff that isn't bounced by that one card from Theros that hits everything but most sea creatures).
Oh I felt that, doing what Tomer never could assembling kaldra !

The sombre music made me sad. The dig at Tomer and Kaldra made me happy.
I like how peaceful the music was. A suggestion have peaceful music and switch to metal when the 4th player in turn or rips a sol ring if no one else has one. But Chris had the sol ring opening hand
When you said, "activates the stoneforger" I realized how confusing it is to have both Stoneforge Mystic and Sunforger on the battlefield
Hello! I know this s random but I can’t find an answer online. If I play my commander for the mutate cost, and it dies, does the mutate cost have 2 more cost, or is it like Yuriko?
I believe you still add the commander Tax since mutate is an alternate casting cost, vs Yurikos ninjitsu, which is unaffected since it’s an ability
the next time you cast it will cost 2 more yeah (whether next time its mutating or not) this is because mutate casts the creature and ninjutsu puts yuriko into play without casting
Ok, thanks! So if I cast the mutate cost twice, if I play the normal cost, it will still cost 6 more?
@@YaminoOkami833 correct. The ability explicitly says 'cast', so it is an alternative cost and therefore commander tax applies.
You add tax because you still cast it. Yuriko is an activated ability
It might not have changed the game end by much but Nissa who shakes the world starts with 5 (doubled to 10) loyalty, so after ulting (-8) she'd have 2 loyalty left and still on the battlefield and not put into the graveyard
How did you feel about the Genju in the Obuun deck? Trying to figure out whether to go the land animation route or general landfall theme for upgrading the deck
Chris did have both Godo and Helm of the Host. Why didn't he try to get infinite combat steps this way? He had so much mana that he probably even had Sunforger backup.
He probably drew Godo during that combat.
I just built an Obuun deck about 10 minutes before seeing this!

Did I miss one or is it that the people you usually play with don't like it ? ^^
You don't see Stax very often in casual games like the ones from this channel... you'll find it more often in cEDH games.
I recommend the following channels for cEDH: Playing with Power MTG, Casually Competitive MTG and SplitSecond.

There is an interaction that I didn't understand. Derek cast doubling season followed by Nissa who shakes the world. The planeswalker would have 10 loyalty counters for the minus 8 so remaining 2 Loyalty counters: why did she was put in the graveyard? Did I miss something?
It was a mistake on Derek's part. She should have still been around.

Prediction: Mistform takes the win again
My predictions came true every game I've watched which featured mistform it won.
Aiming a peer into the abyss at somebody without an additional way to kill them always feels like a mistake.
You only needed to bring 1 equipment with lifelink Chris..... Just 1 Equipment with Lifelink.......
Am I the only one that doesn't mind the missplays im sure there is missplays every game I've ever played in and it adds an extra realism to the game called humor human error
please correct me if i am wrong, but isnt akiris ability drawing only ONE card by attacking with one or more equiped creatures.... so if you attack with 3 equiped creatures you draw only one card, not one card for every attacking?
It is worded so that you draw for each player you attack with an equipped creature.

Is it just me, having mistaken somesthing or why didn't akiri win? Chris had Godo and helm on the board, and had the chance to remove the colossus. So Godo and helm combo and win. Am i right?

They are token creatures that were created by the whale... they make all creatures they control attack

No shadowspear or batterskull on Akiri? Some Lifelink would have done so much work. Maybe.
Shadowspear should be an auto include in any equipment deck.
@@jeffnorris211 Batterskull is really good in Akiri too, since the germ will draw you cards, Stoneforge Mystic loves it.
Or Basilisk Collar. I'm running it plus Shadowspear as lifelink options in my Akiri list.

I assume because it’s cheap and unique. You can get a couple of U lords to buff him but doesn’t draw as much hate as Shu Yun.
Speaking of which, I think I should build a cheap Shu Yun deck...

You only draw one card from aikri, it's one or more not each
If you had multiple akiri's though, say through helm of the host, you draw for each instance of the triggered ability. The cool things MTGO helps you realize :D

The key sentence here is "attack a player" - Akiri will trigger for each different player you attack in that combat, so you can draw more than one card if you attack multiple opponents.
