at around 9:00 you said that the hand gesture doesn't look like a fox, but in japan, that's the universal gesture for a fox, just as a lil tidbit of information, so it's a perfectly valid way to communicate quickly and quietly if you have that sort of background knowledge of japanese culture and know the other person does, too (which both people would, being that they're japanese).
Also, the suggestion of using the sign language represented in the clip added would only work if they all three knew ASL (American Sign Language). Sign Language for Japanese is gonna be different than ASL.

Okay thank you, I was really confused. Even in Germany that gesture is known as the "Schweigefuchs" (Silent fox). Usually used by Kindergarten teachers to tell the kids to be quiet. So literally everyone in Germany knows that this gesture is a fox.
That hand sign has more than one meaning in Japan lol. It’s not universal in Japan it’s just one of the most used representations of the sign

He was actually surprisingly close. if Jan 1st was a Monday, on a normal year, Dec 31st of the same year would be Tuesday and on a leap year, it'd be Wednesday. The days of the week don't perfectly line up every year so you can't just go one day back and say Dec 31st is a Sunday.
@@moka6058 no. January 1st and December 31st are on the same day of the week normally, so if January 1st is on a Monday, then December 31st of the same year is also on a Monday, unless it's a leap year. Then it's on a Tuesday
One thing I always wanted to praise is How To Beat’s cleverness in almost every scenario when it comes to life or death situations. So if he decided to make his own malicious death game, it’d probably end up being an unbeatable challenge with no way for the players to win.
Making it unbeatable is so unfun though, it has to be fair in order to be a proper death game. Otherwise it’s just murder

Just for the record, you don't read kanji like that separately. Most more complex kanji are a combination of other smaller kanji so they knew it said "massacre" to begin with and wouldn't have read it as "deer and money". They more than likely just thought it was part of the title and not a clue, since most of the games are deadly anyway.
This. Not to mention this character is not 常用漢字 nor 人名用字, so I very much doubt that they could read the character to start with. I'm working on 漢検準一級 myself (the average Japanese person has knowledge to pass 二級 or 準二級, which are exams that are one or two levels below that one) and didn't know this character.
When I think of massacre, I usually think of 殺戮 - which is usually written as 殺りく instead, with Hiragana.
The video comments on how the Fox hand sign is too hard to interpret in a tense situation,
but actually, the hand sign is commonly known in Japan because of a game we play as a child;
we use the shadows created by our hands to make images like a butterfly or a snail;
the fox is one of the easiest to do.
That’s how I know it, but let me know if anyone knows it through different means.

Dang I really this MC. Even in a death game, he always chooses what’s right and never left his friends behind and was willing to help others as well.
What’s also great was that he isn’t too overpowered for a main character. Yes, he’s smart and has good observation skills as shown in his performance when playing the games but being human, he has also shown his vulnerable sides like how he made mistakes from time to time.
His first answer in that witch manor game wasn’t correct. He’s shown to not have that much of lying skills when he played against the other smart kid in the smashing the rings game. And how it took time for him to realize how the assistant arranges her cards.
Yeah he has plot armor but this how you make a good character imo when it comes to a death game type scenario.
A likable character who is smart enough to survive but also has his/her weak moments. Not some Sherlock wannabe who can immediately guess the answer with an incredibly convoluted explanation. The whole good-natured characteristic was just the icing on top

The box is important because he is looking at it, but also it could be protected to throw you off. That’s a 1/2 chance. A better option was to slam at one of the other 3, where assuming the box he’s looking at is not protected. Which is 1/3.
Has anyone tried making Day & Night into an actual Card Game. I think it would be really cool and the Game Theory potential would be unreal. Only thing I would change is instead of using a Dart Board to reveal ranks, use a Random Number Generator or a 13-sided die instead.

@@3PfnovaK You split a deck of cards between 2 persons. One gets all the red cards, one gets all the black cards. You play 3 rounds.
With those cards each player can make 5 sets each with 5 cards.
When you have made your sets you turn them over so they are not visible. You then get 2 darts to trow on the dart board, but instead of numbers each slice represents a card.
After you both have trown your darts, you go back to the table, and reveal the cards in your deck that the other player has trown.
The player that first trew the darts can bet their sets against your sets. If their set is higher than yours, that set expires. If it's a tie, the set of the leading player wins. You still lose the sets even if you win, but with each win you build up a certain amount of points. The player with the most points at the end wins
It's a complicated game, with lots of bluffing possibilites. Seems pretty fun to play tbh

The 3 rings in the door is the biggest plot armour I've ever seen
Honestly it is not that outrageous. My first idea was similiar - to stop the person from closing door. But that is because I was suspecting the rings to be either on that person from start, or that person somehow pocketed them when closing the door.
The doorknob... I am not sure if I would check it out after failing to find rings on that person. But from the get-go it was clear to me that those rings were either not more than single step from entrance. With so many people failing before me, that would be enough to convince me that searching the room itself is pointless.

That ending was actually a smart move. Because as head of a criminal empire he would be a massive target. But sense he threw the game. He won’t be a target. So the assistant will be the target and the woman’s brother would stay alive. And he has billions of dollars to spend

I don't want to illicit anything dubious but for anyone trying to find this show I'd suggest looking for Ikkaku Denkin Game. It's an 8 Part mini series and is worth the watch even if you watched this video already.

Normally, Dec 31 is supposed to be on the same day of the week as Jan 1, but if it’s on a leap year then Dec 31 will be a day ahead of Jan 1. So if the question is not counting a leap year, then the answer is Monday for Dec 31.

if you were to play poker or any games at all with How To Beat , these are the stuff that you should have and use during it
1 : a mask so he can't read you
2 : very strict rules if you made the game
3 : (only works if its related to 2) have the rules contain no ways of cheating without breaking them
4 : be as unpredictable as you can
5 : make sure he can't see whatever you have that could give him the upperhand
6 : be as neutral as possible at everything so he can't read info of your body language etc
Just put your head down when it's not your turn, if you're allowed to. Like you're taking a nap. Unless you're trying to give them false information, you want to give them NO information.

There is a problem with using sign language in the anchor game, at least for the characters. Sign language isn't the same in every country, so while he was making the fox head, to me it looked like the letter "d" in sign language, because I know the letters for American Sign Language. It looked more like a fox to his friend because that would be how a fox would look in that moment to them. The characters may not know the American sign language for the alphabet, and the letters "d" and "f" have the overall same hand shape made, but the finger that touches the thumb is different. This combined with the awkward angle that they would be looking at the sign could make guessing the wanted letters harder, if not impossible sometimes

At around 8:20 where you said the anchor is around 20 inches from their face, you have a major fatal flaw. Let me ask you, could they see that from a side angle like you did, no. Unless they had godly depth perception, then they wouldn’t be able to tell how far it was from their face plus that it’s constantly swinging.

I like how some of these How To Beat movies are "This phrase on this sign has deadly symbolism, and everything's shady. The right move would be not going here and skip the game/movie entirely". Definitely the best move though, to be fair.
