This is an EPIC movie! Been watching it over and over again since I was a kid. The cast just amazing, that lambo is just awesome and this scene (the begining) is just perfection!
This is the best intro ever to a movie... cars, girls, funny guys it has it all... all legends... they dont make movies like this no more... i miss the 80s and 90s, what a time for movies and music...

I saw this in the theater on Fathers Day back in 1981. 40 years this coming June. One of my favorite movies of all time....I know people today do not really appreciate this gem...but it was a classic. Imagine being on this movie crew...ahhh the stories. Greek what are the odds on this Cannonball cockamamie!?

"yeah, and we're gonna stay in pursuit until we catch'em!" "It did take us that long to catch Dilinger!" What a great kick-ass intro to an awesome funny movie! :)
Considering the Lambo has a far higher top speed, I don't see them 'ever' catching up LOL (and yeah that drop a gear and pull away- the Lambo could actually do that to a firebird LOL)

Fascinating, how the song alone feels like violating speed limits with its subtle staccato. And I bet, a countach would trigger a radar trap even when parking - 70/80ies design and power decadence at its best. But I wonder why they didn't add a DeTomaso Pantera to the franchise.
Back in the 70's the Lamborghini did 0-100kmph in 5.9 seconds and had a top speed of 264kmph The Trans Am did 0-100kmph in 6.7 seconds and had a top speed of 198kmph

The all star cast in these movies were amazing, you just can't do this now, it would be youtubers and reality stars with PC writers. Shoutout and RIP to fellow Memphian Hal Needham for creating these movies, from stuntman to legendary film director.

Love this movie got it for Christmas a couple years ago. I think my sister got it at walmart. I love watching on my 42" vizio full hd tv. turn on surround sound and sit back and enjoy.
He and his co-driver, Michael Hui, were two of the top names in Hong Kong movies at the time this came out (Hui was actually the bigger of the two, with several blockbusters to his name). The production company behind this film, Golden Harvest, is also based in Hong Kong.
I still got my copy of the first cannonball run, watched that movie so many times I remember parts of the opening theme song... Ah, that movie brings back so many good memories

When I was a kid me and a friend were obsessed with car movies. Canon Ball run (1&2) were the ultimate. Must have watched them dozens of times.
The moment I fell in love with the Countach! Then ladies in tight shiny outfits. I was young and impressionable.

Because of this movie I fell in love with the 6.6 liter Trans Am and the Lamborghini Countach. Would still take either one today.
