YOU are who I’ve been looking for! Someone who washes regularly! I sweat in my head a lot and am about to loc my hair but I was nervous about listening to others say they wait to wash. You’re also the only person I’ve seen not braid & band, get right into your scalp AND put conditioner in their hair. I’m a leave-in conditioner girl, my hair must smell good so this was IMMENSELY helpful! Thank you!
Girl! You are the real deal! I see why your hair is soooooo neatly parted and so beautiful. It looks like its just who you are! A type A personality. Your house looks so neat and clean as well. I am sure you are going to knock that medical school out of the park too! Good job girlfriend!
Your locks are gorgeous!!! THAT SUPER NICE CLEAN GRID THOUGH!!! 🌹I love your videos! The grid squares will be the exact size your mature locks will be. I started my diy microlocks by interlocking with the 4 point rotation with a total of 300 - 310 locks & I just celebrated my 10th month lock anniversary! YAY! My soft hair totally resists the grid so I understand the ‘Pop the locks’ asap! LOL! I absolutely have to braid and band my 4b hair when shampooing. I shampoo once a week with a clarifying shampoo. I cannot use any conditioner or oil at all due to both slippage and unraveling! UGH! One time I stretched my reti to 8 weeks & what a disaster! Each grid line had blurred!!! One time I skipped the braiding and banding and the majority of my lock ends unraveled 3-4 inches and I had to re-interlock the ends & reti the roots due to slippage 😭. Lesson learned! No, my new growth doesn’t stay within the lock 🙄. Thanks for sharing! Looking forward to your next video!
I love your hair. My grid isn't as crisp, I split my locs from 103 to 240, definitely didn't worry about the parts when I did it(someone else initially started my locs). I was almost ready to take them out and restart, 5 week Locaversary. My first interlock maintenance is this coming week. I washed my hair at 3 weeks with Neutrogena, build up remover. Left my hair feeling great!
Would you mind making a video of how you parted your hair while installing your twistlocks? I'm interested to know cuz I want to install mine soon. I've watched most of your videos and they're really awesome
I did the braid n band method a few times but then stopped bc I would still have shampoo in my hair. I wash freely now and it's amazing. I definitely need a stripping shampoo. The one I use is moisturizing af so the locs feel great but my scalp still have a little build up on there
Hey sis, your hair is so beautiful! About rinsing your hair with cold water, remember that the method works really well for loose natural hair to keep it from tangling, but for locs you need your hair to tangle up easily, so getting the cuticle to seal up defeats that purpose. Also, normal towels work well to dry hair, no lint here.
Thanks! the cold water lays the cuticle down. Yes it slows the locing process, but also seals in moisture. I am okay with a slow locking process, if it means that my hair is still moisturized/healthy when I finally do have mature locs.
Don’t worry bout your locs swelling it’s part of the process our hair is looking to find its place in the loc and will continue to shrink & eventually condense. Bunching is a pain but overtime will be less noticeable from some TH-camrs I follow it can take up to 2 years for our hair to reach maturity. Lovely content I like the advice on steaming & leave in conditioner, don’t know if UK 🇬🇧 sells that brand but I’ll look as my hair is sometimes dry. Be safe & thank you 😊
Naps Are The New Black yes I will do that, all hair is protein do I don’t always buy black products as they are so over priced here & ones I bought fur my kids don’t necessarily work any better than products for Caucasian type hair. At the moment I’m using Tresemé & a great clarifying shampoo by Herbal Essence. 👍🏾
Your locks are gorgeous! In your update video, could you let us know the approximate size of your parts for each lock? They look smaller than half an inch but I'm not sure. I'm hoping to install mine soon too :)
Naps Are The New Black yep. I think that’s the first time I’ve come across an add that I couldn’t skip pass. Hope you can straighten that out. Loved your video but that ad was a teeth grinder!
I thought with locs you didn’t have to do all this. Deep conditioning and protein treatments bin so tired of taking care of my hair but I refuse to walk around with unhealthy hair
You still need to take care of your hair with locs. However, maintenance takes wayyyy less time bc detangling and styling are cut out from the process. it takes 5 minutes to wash my hair and 15-30 to do a steam treatment. that is less than an hour of maintenance for a whole week.
to seal my cuticles and loc in moisture. I dont do it as much anymore since my locs dont dry out too much (it was a technique that really helped me as a loose natural)
the hair on my nape was extremely short when I started my locs. They have actually gotten longer. You could just be noticing some short pieces growing out
I am more concerned about my lint issue than buildup, but shampooing often keeps my scalp from feeling super irritated and helps me avoid buildup as well
absolutely not! my scalp thrives when I cleanse it often. As a loose natural I would clay wash weekly, since clay isn't as drying, but now I shampoo because it is easier :). Just find a schedule that works for your scalp.
Naps Are The New Black thank you! I just started my partner’s micro locs by way of two strand twist. Her hair is naturally curly. How soon should I give her her first wash? Her hair is so soft and curly I’m also afraid her twist will just unravel.
I mention this in my 8 month loc update, as well as the size of the parts (which probably matters more because my head could be bigger or smaller than yours)
This is why interlocking is such a wonder thing we can wash our locs as much as we want without all the work that was done coming unraveled
exactly! my reti didn't flinch!
Naps Are The New Black I know

I also wash and didn't do braiding/banding 🤷🏽♀️
I don't have time for all that lol

Priscilla Ayerite thank you 🥰, im definitely the neat/clean type, unless its time to do laundry 😂
Black excellence at its finest
I don’t braid & band either because the same reasons yes I do have bunching but it doesn’t matter to me as long as my locs aren’t coming unravel
exactly! I dont mind the bunching at all

I love your locks. I’m getting mine Sunday. I wanted to tell you that shampoo you’re using is being sued for hair loss. Not all but some of them.
How did you split your locs? I’m thinking of going from 120 to about 150 locs but not sure if it’s possible. Were you fully loc’d when you split?
Your parts look so clean!
Ava Ness thanks!

yes, same!

@@NapsAreTheNewBlack Yeah, that makes so much sense. You really do have beautiful lustrous hair, very pretty😀
I'm loving your videos! I'm watching while I'm retying my roots👍.
Retie looking amazing!!
Tatiana Victoria thanks love
Just washed my traditional locs today and used the same shampoo (in the purple bottle)!
Brandi • it smells sooo good doesnt it?!
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack yes!! And I love the shimmer thing it has going on!!
Your locs are so pretty!

If the UK doesn't have this specific brand, then any loose, water-soluble leave-in conditioner should work

tinterlight sure! Ill measure them on camera 🖤
You are so so so beautiful omg 😫😩😩😩😩😩
Christina Danielle thank you so much 🥰
I love this channel name. 👌🏾
Thank you! Just trying to normalize nappy hair
Your locs are beautiful. What parting size did you use? I'm thinking of starting diy locs next year and I'm trying to figure out the size. Thank you!
Joy Morris Beauty ill be measuring them in my 8 month loc update! Stay tuned 😊😊
Naps Are The New Black thank you!
Excited to watch (:
So cute, so funny, and I love your hair
thanks :)
Have you ever had to braid and band to wash?.. Have any twist came down after washing?
Never braided and banded. I did have two twists unravel in the back, in the very beginning of my journey.
Great video. What’s the name of the leave in?
Loc'd Biker design essentials almond and avacado detangling leave-in conditioner
What tool do you use to retighten your locs and where did you get it?
For the 1st time I'm #1.. okuuurr
omg I love the energy lol, thanks for supporting!
When was your first wash after you installed them?
I washed them after 2 weeks, but I fully wet them and did a hot oil treatment after the first week!
@@NapsAreTheNewBlack did you use the hair dryer machine?
I just got my microlocs a month ago and I've been debating when to wash my hair😬
Wash your hair every two weeks
Can I use this biotin and collagen for my two weeks two strand microlocs?
OMG!!! The infomercial on this vid is so friggin" looonnnggg and you can't skip that bad boy!!!!!
Dee George really? I specified that I wanted all adds to be skippable, ill look into that. Sorry!

to seal my cuticles and loc in moisture. I dont do it as much anymore since my locs dont dry out too much (it was a technique that really helped me as a loose natural)
I have three products of the products.
nice 😊
Very informative TY
Glad it was helpful!
hi, could you translate into spanish, i'm from panama and i'm using a translator i fell in love with your technique
Hola
is this a thing, where the last two ends of the locs in the back become short? cause mine are doing this and im not sure why.
the hair on my nape was extremely short when I started my locs. They have actually gotten longer. You could just be noticing some short pieces growing out
Question: are you concerned about buildup?
I am more concerned about my lint issue than buildup, but shampooing often keeps my scalp from feeling super irritated and helps me avoid buildup as well
Is is completely necessary to shampoo that often?
absolutely not! my scalp thrives when I cleanse it often. As a loose natural I would clay wash weekly, since clay isn't as drying, but now I shampoo because it is easier :). Just find a schedule that works for your scalp.

Do you retighten before you wash?
nope! I retighten once every 10-12 weeks and it doesnt slip when I wet my hair.
Ok AYH with that social distancing comment lmao
Kristen Mack 😂😂😂 CVRC is getting to me lolol
beautiful
Thank you! 😊
Great video
