Lovely hair!!! To summarize, you never breaded and banded, you typically wash every week, you use conditioner and you wait more than 8 weeks between reties. All taboo in the loc community. Yet your hair locked nicely and looks gorgeous. I am taking notes.
Yes! you've got it all right haha. The take-away is listen to your hair and not arbitrary rules others have set. My hair doesnt grown fast enough for monthly reties, so I let it take its time to get to an inch of new growth (also less tension on the scalp is a plus). My hair gets brittle without conditioner, so I use it. And my hair never unraveled when it got wet so I didn't braid and band. Just pay attention to how your hair is feeling and ignore everything else 🤷🏽♀️
Couple questions 1 do you ever do a deep conditioner treatment or protein treatment? If so how often and what products? 2 do you use a rinse out conditioner right after shampooing (not a deep conditioner)? 3 how often do you spray water on your hair? Or oil your hair? Or use leave in conditioner? 4 when you were loose natural, did you always go conditioner first then oil? Do you notice any differences with locs with what order? 5 do you ever use aloe Vera water? Or rose water? Or rice water? Sorry for so many questions lol
Glad to see you had a good experience with the steam cap. I recently purchased one (different brand) and was really impressed with the results but wasn't sure if I should still get a full steamer next year. Conditioners isn't an issue for those of us with microlocs especially if you wash your hair properly with DE shampoo on regular basis. The problem some have is the brand they use and their heavy handedness with those thick products. If you're not ready to get a Rev Air then get a seated dryer so you can do 30 minutes and not sit around with a wet head all day. Your hair looks beautiful. Enjoy your down time from school this holiday season!
Thank you!! and I have definitely flirted with the idea of getting a revair, but are they still $400 😩? Also i agree with you on the conditioner piece, and im doing a bunch of relaxing on this break 🙌🏾
Your hair is GOALS!! Absolutely stunning. You’ve done an amazing job from beginning to now. Steam is definitely life for hair! Why did you put the shower cap on first? Seems like it would stop your hair from getting the steam. Thank you for doing an updated video! Blessings.
That is not true, it foes not stop anything. Heat is heat & your wet hair cannot touch the cap where it heats. Its an electronic device. For the same reason you wont touch an electric outlet with wet hands. The heat from the cap does its job even with the cap. I have one.
I do have a question about that shampoo… I know you used to sometimes use the Dr Bronners… what benefits do you feel you got from the DE shampoo vs DB? Does one stimulate hair growth and promote retention more than the other?
ive been using conditioner since the beginning, but if your hair texture is looser, it might be best to let them loc up a little before using leave in, which might cause slippage in certain hair textures.
it feels like the cotton hair that used to be on those dolls with yarn hair. but when it gets dry it can feel as hard as a brillo pad. All depends on how moisturized it is at the time (similar to my loose natural hair)
thanks! The steam lifts the cuticles (particularly on low porosity hair) and allows water into the hair shaft for better/longer term moisture retention

Remember what works for her might not work for u
@@Danieei yes. And all those things are not necessary for everyone.

I love that shampoo. I decided to try it randomly this summer and was hooked.
yesss! I will never trade on her 😩

Your crown looks Amazing Queen ❤
Thank you!!
I use a regular hand held clothing steamer off amazon but I agree steaming is great for softness
yes! that works too!
Someone told me I shouldn't use conditioner on micro locs and today I learnt from your channel yes I can. Thank you
Yes! Just dilute it with water so it doesn’t cause build up. But I still deep condition too.
Oh this was very helpful. Thank you 🫶🏾🫶🏾🫶🏾
Glad it was helpful!
Two washes minimum. 💕
Such beautiful hair!!!
beautiful!! do you see less lint with your frequent washes?
I think so!
Thank you for sharing. You hair is growing beautifully. Can you share the ACV rinse routine? Or recommend a video 😊 Thank you
thanks! I can make an ACV rinse routine video. Ill probably do another one in a few months
Love your locs. I’m trying to find a local person to get me started on my journey.
Thank you!! Hopefully you find someone you like ❤️
Thanks sis, I'mma start using conditioner now! I feel like the time has come, my hair needs it badddd
just make sure to use a watery one and to not be too heavy handed with product and you should be okay!
Your locs are beautiful ❤️
I too can’t stand the feeling of wet hair 😭😭😭😭
LOL the ick is unexplainable 😭
Are you still on the 2-point rotation? Some people say that it can cause the Locs to weaken. Do you feel that way. BTW Your Locs are beautiful.
Hmm… I believe I will have to try steaming my locs. They are far from soft.
give it a try! It can't harm your hair, so if it doesnt work, then you lose nothing :)
Your hair is beautiful 😍 😊
you have beautiful hair ..what hair type do you have??
Do U still do the fricken ice cold wash after the steam
Are you able to follow this routine if you are only 2 Months in with a DIY 2strand microlocs?

When your hair dries, is it still pillow soft?

How old are you? I'm asking this because i'm 24 (almost 25) and i hesistate to lock my hair now or to wait a few years
Im 26. I started my locs when I was 22
Your locs are beautiful what is the purpose for the steam on your locs.
