Old Polish tango in Polish and Hebrew: Graj skrzypku, graj!

- Composer: Lidauer, Lyrics: Zdrojewski/Biderman
One of the most popular Polish tangos in late 30s. It was written by Władysław Lidauer, who died in Warsaw ghetto. Adam Aston under the name of Ben Lewi recorded it in Hebrew for Syrena-Electro already in 30s. The translation was made by Biderman.
During the II world war, this record found it's way to Tel Aviv. Maybe it was brought there by Adam Aston himself, who came to Palestine with General Anders Polish Army.
Vocal: Olga Mieleszczuk, Piano: Hadrian Tabęcki, Violin: Grzegorz Lalek, Contrabass: Wojciech Pulcyn, video: Amir Nezer -

Mamy 700 lat tradycji Polska was przyjęła i wychowała więc jesteśmy Polakami

That song always brings tears to my eyes. My parents always sang that song. My mother was only 16 and my father 19 in 1939. They both lost 6 years from their life in occupied Warsaw. My father was sent to labor camp to Germany for 3 yrs.

. Beautiful tango. My father was born in Warsaw before the war. He knew many Jewish dances. And Polish as well. Warsaw residents were a very happy community. Until the invasion of Nazi German Reich and outbreak of WWII. My father often threw loafs of bread to Jews locked by the Germans in the Warsaw ghetto. One time he nearly got killed for that, but survived because the German pointing the machine gun on him tripped and fell. As a child I heard often my father’s cries in his sleep - because that moment came back to him in his nightmares. We had to go and wake him up and then he stopped screaming. To honour the Polish Jews murdered in the Warsaw ghetto we should not white wash the killers. Say precisely- they were murdered by the Nazi Germany in occupied Poland.

Poland was a friendly home for Jews for 600 years, only here they could settle in Europe. Over the years, we have created a wonderful culture.
That ended in 1939 when many Poles enthusiastically approved and even helped the German occupiers identify, harass and ultimately liquidate their Jews,
@Robert x
Not that wonderful actually, In my family, I have a story about grand grandma who had a new raincoat and while in school the teacher took it and give it to a poor pole girl and+- (as my mother know it better than me) told her that a Jew doesn't need that, and she criyed all the way.
Jew was second there, as they where all around the globes 2K years.
Of course, the antisemitism, asking if it was hurt to cut the horns off the head etc. That was the education in too many places, and probably till today, especially places that vacant from Jews nowaday.
@@Colgate64 If you would look anywhere beyond your narrow perspectives, you'd know it's rubbish. Poles helped Jews and 99% of polish people were as anti-nazis as anyone could get. If you visit Auschwitz, you'll also hear about thousands of poles who were murdered in there along with the Jews. Just like soviets and gay people. And potentially everyone who wasn't in the Hitler mainstream

Hello, how are you?
There is a new movie about Warsaw in 1937. It's called "Król", based on a book "King of Warsaw" by Szczepan Twardoch.
I so love the life and work of Dr. Janusz Korczak (Henryk Goldszmit) - a great Pole and a great Jew. If I have a hero, it is he and if physics permitted, I would go back in time to bless him and his little souls in the orphanage on Krochmalna.
A beautiful and heartbreaking tribute to a very brief time/age where beauty, art, and peace ruled before it was all swept away. 1919 to 1939 was probably the era where the human spirit blossomed beyond any other. I weep for this lost period; I fear that it will never come again. 😪
Hello! My name is Pablo. I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina. This interpretation is very beautiful. The version made me want to know more about the story of Adam Aston and Władysław Lidauer.
