I'm learning from Simon that to communicate with non-english speakers, it helps if you are loud and wave your hand in their face. Pointing at them helps as well, even if you're the only people there!
Just remember that in many countries, they don't appreciate obnoxiously loud people/tourists - and in many cultures getting in someone's ''bubble'' is also incredibly rude - finally, in some cultures, finger pointing is also considered very rude I guess what I'm trying to say is that your mileage may and will vary and being loud/waving hands in face/pointing people should *_NOT_* be seen as ''universal'' travel tips. In countries and cultures where it is considered rude, it'll simply reinforce the idea that tourists have no manners and are loud & rude
Vietnam is and likely always will be my fav travel destination. The best food, unreal people, amazing deep and rich history, gorgeous countryside, perfect weather, and no matter how many times you go you will always discover something new. It's truly special.
Back in the days of my reckless youth, at nighttime my friends and I used to walk out on the catwalk of a train trestle that crossed the Connecticut River, and we would wait there for a freight train to come. On that catwalk we were as close, or perhaps even closer than you were to that train Simon, and indeed, I know how exciting and intimidating that feels...especially so because in front of us, close enough for us to touch was an enormous freight train rumbling on by, shaking the trestle, and immediately behind us, our backs to the railing was a 40 foot drop down in the darkness to a large river! Things we did for fun before the internet was invented.
@hardpaper3192 I love that scene! Two important differences, though. We at least had a narrow catwalk with a railing. In Stand By Me, they had nowhere to seek refuge except to get off the tracks completely!
I love how you walk around and make friends with absolutely everyone, where a lot of other TH-camrs try to focus on issues and what’s wrong. You’re fantastic!

Great Video as always, Simon! 👏🏼 Trains in Vietnam are a great way of travelling the country.
