    Love my Koba. Yes there's a blind spot but if you remember your driving lessons, "headchecks, headchecks, headchecks". There's blind spot monitoring and rear cross traffic warning so combined with looking it's really not a problem.

    I've just ordered the 2020 C-HR hybrid and am happy to wait the 12 weeks for delivery. I comprehensively tested the C-HR and the Subaru XV hybrid and although it was a close choice, Toyota won. I felt the Subaru had a great driver cockpit, but the technology (the extra screen) would overwhelm me when I'm after all, supposed to be watching the road when I'm driving. I'm happy to pay the little bit extra for the design and styling and especially the fuel consumption. As this car will unlikely ever encounter a dirt road or driveway, the 2WD is fine for me and the AWD Subaru was an overkill. Thank you for your comprehensive reviews on both cars. Having a little bit of information helped my choice.

    Good review! I've driven the CH-R a couple of times and I have to say it's a really pleasant car to drive. The design also appeals to me.
    If I'm brutally honest the CH-R feels better balanced to drive than the Lexus NX300h F-Sport which I have owned.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Totally agree, Bart. The C-HR benefits from a newer and much improved platform - that will actually sit underneath the next-gen Lexus NX when that is released in perhaps 2021.

    Great update Tom. Interestingly, the CHR hybrid is offered in two variants in NZ, the “C-HR Limited Hybrid” ($NZ38K) which is the equivalent of the model you were driving, and the base model C-HR Hybrid ($NZ35K) you thought should be available in Oz. Since the markets are so similar I’m surprised it’s not. My impression is that the 1.8 Hybrid in the Corolla and C-HR is not as smooth as the 2.5 Hybrid in the RAV4 and Camry.

    I've had mine for over two years and it's a great little car. One thing I have discovered is that it needs a high speed run every now and then. It seems to feel better after a 110km/h drive.
    As for power seat adjustment and power tailgates - they're worthless. I've got better things to do with my time than have to wait for a car to do something I can do in a fraction of the time.
    Bullshit on the back-seat-view criticism as well. I seriously doubt I have ever turned my head 90 degrees to look at something from the back seat of a car and kids eyes go straight to the electronic device in their lap and they appreciate the fact that the sun doesn't dim their screen.
    Supa Cheap Auto do a brisk business in side curtains for cars for just that reason.

    • @chasingcars
      @chasingcars  4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Just because you don’t agree with one reasonable view doesn’t make it bullshit 🤷🏼‍♂️ Glad you also think it’s a great car, though. We do too.

      @hawkesworth1712 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Chasing Cars . Sorry but it is a bullshit comment. Whether you are sitting down or standing up at the moment try turning your head at 90 degrees to look at something beside you. Then imagine doing it while travelling at 60. It’s a non-issue but people keep saying it because they think it should be a problem. It isn’t.

    Please keep in mind that this 50% increase in range they falsely advertise, does not mean that regenerative braking will give an 50% range increase! This isn’t going to bump your range from 100 miles to 150 miles. This simply means that 50% of the kinetic energy lost during the act of braking can be turned back into acceleration later.
    It is important to realize that on its own, regenerative braking isn’t a magical range booster for Hybrid vehicles. It doesn’t make Hybrid vehicles more efficient per set, it just makes them less inefficient.
    Realistically, Regen in Hybrid will boost up to 5% increase in range only in rural areas and Not in motorways. In highways regen gives you No boost in range at all! Too expensive too!!

    Good review. You'll find Lane Trace Assist didn't work well - because it doesn't have Lane Trace Assist! It has Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist. But I love the ride, handling and steering of this car, and the interior still feels "special". If the looks don't suit you there are plenty of other boring boxes on wheels you could buy instead - each to their own I guess.

    It must be due to the mentioned heaviness, that the handle for closing the tailgate was changed (180 degree rotated). Was confused for a second when i was about closing the tailgate on loan car when mine was in for service. Small detail but interesting that Toyota has paid attention to it in the facelift.

    • @chasingcars

      @andersforsman4289 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, it felt a bit backwards. Clarifying that it is a completely different handle (compared to model year 2017), so there is a strong reason Toyota changed the handle. A qualified guess is improved ergonomics!

It pops up while just driving but mainly when you are stopped at a light. Sometimes it even gives itself gas while Ive got my foot on the brake which makes it launch forward. With the horn blowing and the brake coming up and launching forward is very scary. The dealerships mechanics have no clue what’s causing this. I’m in the US. • @chasingcars

      That’s more or less correct, though I’d point to 2 main differences: (a) the Lexus is available with superior powertrains, and (b) the UX has a more plush interior and slightly better refinement, but that was probably what anyone would expect.

    I wish they'd make a body style for adults that didn't look like a Transformer robot. I can't stand the unnecessarily Humongous weird shaped grills, long skinny headlights, and wedge shaped body line trend that makes the car look like it's leaning forward. Too many plasticky looking features. It's not just Toyota doing this, the majority of car companies are using these horrible styling features. Then there's the permanent screen right in your face, it would be nice if they made one that folded down or if you could just fully opt out of that thing. Those screens shouldn't even be legal, people should have their eyes on the road. Other than that, I like it.
