- An RF module (radio frequency module) is a (usually) small electronic device used to transmit and/or receive radio signals between two devices. In an embedded system it is often desirable to communicate with another device wirelessly. This wireless communication may be accomplished through optical communication or through radio frequency (RF) communication. For many applications the medium of choice is RF since it does not require line of sight. RF communications incorporate a transmitter or receiver.

Thanks for such an informative and lucid tutorial. just want to add one thing.
For a battery operated transmitter - it's better to provide ground to pin 14 only through the push buttons attached to the pin 10 to 13 and not directly. so the transmitter will go to power saving sleep mode (1 to 4 microamp) when no button is pressed. else it continues to send data even if no button is pressed. We can save battery this way.
One more thing , HT12D has latching outputs so no need to use separate flip flop circuitry.

Thanks for your interest to teach us. I am interested to connect this project to control the water level. I have already a ready made high level trip system which uses wire connection from the float. As the wire connection between the tank and the controller is difficult, I wish to add transmitter / receiver in between. Please guide me how to connect both whether I connect the microswith with float and led connection to the level controller module?

I need a rf wireless controller (transmitter and receiver) for a distance of 2 to 5km.
To function as follows:
On the transmitter is to connect a "PIR" motion detector
In the recptor a led.
The operation should look like this: After the "PIR" detects movement, it sends a signal to the receiver, which in turn lights a led.

I made a 4 channel transmitter and receiver circuit using 433Mhz rf module and HT12E and HT12D ic. But when I provided both the reciver and transmitter circuit same voltage 5v then communication didn't work that is data is not received. But when I powered the transmitter circuit with low voltage than receiver circuit around 2.5 v then communication between the two worked. Why is this happening?
can i add thumb joystick module/ potentiometers instead of push switch??

It is simple bro
For example if we dip our finger in the water up and down we notice some waves which moves in all direction in the form of circle and at the other last edge of water wave range we put our hand to sense the water wave so our fand works like riciever and finger which is oscillating is works like transmitter
Similarly if current applied to copper wire or coil it produced magnatic and current field and attached crystal oscilattor to this coil which on and of the current applied to coil so magnatic field also oscillating thus this oscilating produce radio wave and more oscilating produce more powerful radio wave and at the result waves are long lasting similarly like fluid wave they are more stronger then wave produce in path tup so more big wave means more distance cover and small wave means small distance

I have 1 questions please clarify,
If I have multiple transmitter and receiver at same place so there is a any chances of mismatch transmitter signals

The module matches the sequence of pins 1 to 8 over the transmitter ic and receiver ic . we can ground or leave floating these pins (pin 1 to 8 on transmitter side) and do the same thing on receiver side. We can make different combinations (theoretically 2^8 combinations) for different modules kept at the same site. so there won't be any interference between 2 separate modules.
