* except the 1 life, and enemies in inconsiderate locations. Hammer bros., lakitus, and bloopers have no patterns, they're straight up rogue ai. Change my mind.
Yep me too, back in 1998 i died in world 8 alone over 100 times before i could beat that world but boy it took me literally days and that was all on the snes. So i just couldn’t imagine that an day i gonna be so good that i could beat world 8 all atonce, but in 2024 it just happen and i was able to beat the famicom version and without infinitive lives either😁
When I watched this I remembered beating it as kid when I was 7 years old now in my 30 don’t think I can beat this one. Great job on the speed run though brought me back some good old memories mario back in the 90’s what a time !
1 question, why does the game have a black load between 4-4 and 5-1? It isn't in the original SMB, and it doesn't happen with the other world transitions? If you don't know, that's okay, because I don't know either.
Old comment, but this is because this game was released for the Famicom Disk System which used a disk similar to a floppy disk but smaller instead of a cartridge as they were cheaper and easier to make. In between 4-4 and 5-1, the console flips the disk over to read data on the other side of the disk (worlds 5-8). The black load is the disk being flipped
It's impossible to beat this game for the first time with this timer, there's so many traps that takes you back to the beggining, you have to check every single block to beat this game

On FDS, worlds A-D are considered a separate category. On SNES, you can access A-D as soon as you complete 8-4 so it's called "Any% 8-4" for FDS and "Any% D-4" for SNES. This video is an any% 8-4 run.
8:24 Mario be like "Nice, all this work to save a fucking door"
And he also has to beat the game 8 times to actually see peach. *ALL OF THAT FOR A FRICKING KISS.* AND HE'S NOT EVEN MAD, HIS FACE IS ALL LIKE "😐"
I remember dying 100+ times when playing the Lost Levels version for SNES. But I was determined to see world 9. What a trip.
World 9 was pretty lame actually lol. Not any harder than the original 8

Wow, it's so weird seeing those new tiles compared to the first game... Good run though!
If they released this and I played this when I was 8 yrs old I wouldve thrown the remote and broken about 5-6 Zenith Tvs 🤷♂️😂
4-2 to 4-4 is my favorite section in terms of playing the speedrun, dont you think?
Is this even a person?!
yes
Amazing job! Thanks for sharing!

The second question mark should be a full stop

That is why 4-2 has no warp zone.
4:36
I wonder how it works

I was trying to play this with the switch regular controls. It wasn't pretty.
7:30- Wait, the theme is familiar
I would recognize that Fceux interface anywhere.

How can you like jump trough piranha plants (sorry for bad english im Dutch)
Visibly through but probably not like one or two pixel away
Their hitbox actually only occupies their stem and a small portion of their head, sou you can mostly jump through their jaws
Ik ook
