It looks like a decent upgrade over the AD600BM but I wish they wouldn't have "frankensteined" it so much, mixing pieces from both the 600 (Battery) and the 600-Pro (Bulb). If you already have a few 600's at home, it would have been nice to be able to use the same bulbs & batteries, making it an easy upgrade (when the 600 batteries cost about $200 a piece and the 600Pro bulbs are about a 35% markup over the original 600 bulbs). Happy to see them keeping the line going though - I've been using the AD600BM's for years now and have very few issues with them.

Just came across your channel, great job! I'm with you on the buttons and menu, recycle time is waaay too long though. It would have been worth a look otherwise, however I would like to be able to use the same batteries as my 600 Pros. Every studio I have had has had concrete floors and we only used tennis balls on the c-stands on the cyc, BUT use the tennis balls on the other end of those arms (knuckle and arms) sticking out when you have them on set! Keep someone from poking their eyes out or hitting their heads on the pointy end.
Hello first I want to say thank you for all of your information that you have given us over Time regarding Lighting. What I would like from you if you would please do a tutorial on the flashpoint 600 pro II or the godox 600 pro II . Especially regarding the high-speed sink / or freezing Mode scenario that they have for this light I am completely lost when you enter the realm of the 512 set up that they have and then the freeze mode that they have in the system unfortunately I have not seen any videos whatsoever at all regarding this or explaining how it actually works. There are a few other issues inside the menu that's a little elusive as well can you go over each one of those especially the odd ones you have your normal settings that are self-explanatory and then there's a couple settings in there that are confusing and I'm not sure exactly what there for. Once again thank you and I hope to see some information on this light in the future
With the comment that I sent below I do realize that you discussed the options inside this light but is there anyway that you can go in more depth and truly explain certain features . I don't have the light in front of me at this particular moment but there are a few features in the menu that are confusing. Then I would really like to see the freeze mode actually used set up something in your studio that you can show us exactly how the freeze mode works and regards to the 10th Setting of 512. This would be fantastic if you could accomplish that. Once again thank you
That 2.5 sec is a huge deal breaker. It does not just affect full power shooting. All power settings are slower for the most part. Hss can be hugely affected by that as well. I had the older 600 and now the pro. And the faster recycle speed is a huge improvement. I do wish, and assume it will happen, that the new pros come with the updated screen and the new led that shows the group. Those are great features.
Yes great features. But for the most part depending on what you shoot, unless you are shooting full power consistently, you will not notice the 2.5. Its not as slow as you think and pretty fast actually. I will do a reel of both tomorrow and post them.
@@BrandonColePhotography of course anything can depend on how you shoot. And there are times when full power can be necessary. Or even close to it. Again, the slower recycle time affects even lower power settings and hss. If it was a little bit of a difference in recycle time I'd understand. But 0.9 to 2.5 seconds in the world of photography can be a huge difference. A lot of it comes down to the SE using the older technology battery. And as I said I had both, and the new pro definitely outperforms the old one in real world shooting. The pro is a pro for a reason. It's the better flash. And when on sale, as they are often, it's the better value.
Great video!! I have seen different recycle times on the Flashpoint website. On an article about the 600 SE, it states 0.01-0.9 and then under specs on the adorama page, it says 0.01-2.5. I don't shoot fast with models, so that isn't a deal breaker for me but a sports photographer that uses OCF would. I love the menu setup better and I came from Westcott. Westcott deemed unreliable as 2 different FJ400 strobes turned into lemons while on shoot. No idea why. I just hope that with the batteries, that you don't have to charge them every 2-3 months or you have to reset them.
Same with the FJ400s, scraped the whole system because they wouldn't fire consistently. Switched to @Flashpoint system and haven't had any issues. The recycle time makes the SE not usable for me, like the look of it though.
Does it come with a black dish for the bundle.. LOL! Nah but I like the new model but it doesn’t offer ttl and the recycling time is a bit much, more so if you are capturing motion and you need that speed at full power. Still a good option at the price. Good review🙌
@@stephenward8981 granted..but it all depends on needs and what you are shooting. For some it can save the guesswork but drains the battery; others rather shoot manual and figure it out along the way. Neither is better than the other, just a preference.

No time to twiddle thumbs waiting on a recycle as I have to get as many as I can of one person.. Only got 1-4 laps to pass me. Most times the trail doesn't switch back in a cool shooting location to get a different angle so it's a 1-3 shot per pass per person.

Does the new fan mean we get more pops before the high temp slow down kicks in?
Great review. What's the difference in flash duration at the minimum and maximum power?
So I'll be sticking with my AD600BM then. Cool review.

Pretty much the same exact weight. They both weigh in at 6.6 pounds. It takes any godox/flashpoint r2 trigger
