Flashpoint XPLOR 600 Pro TTL Review 3 Years After Purchase

  • As an on-location photographer I was in need of a portable, powerful lighting system that wasn't super expensive. My first step into off camera light was the traditional speedlight so upgrading to the Flashpoint (Flashpoint XPlor 600 Pro TTL) system back in 2018 was a great decision for the photography business. Note: I am using this equipment with my Canon 5D Mark IV. As brand photographer I capture environmental portraits of my clients in many different environments, many of which might not have power available, like outdoors, so the wireless capabilities of this systems was ideal. I also loved how the light output was control via transmitter on top of the camera. Now I didn't have to break up the flow of a photo shoot by walking over to lights to adjust, I could keep the momentum going and simply adjust on the transmitter. These are some of the features that I loved, watch the video to hear more and some set up tips. Have a question? Let me know in the comments and I'll do my best to address each one. Thanks for watching

    Since I do a lot outdoor shooting I have the 26inch. I found it to be light, doesn’t get in the way, doesn’t topple over easily, and the quality of light is great.

      I love bringing this light outside. It's so nice to have a wireless system

    Thanks Nicole for sharing. I have had studio lights and speed lights in mixed systems like Paul C. Buff and Yongnuo. Yes they can be combined with slave triggers but it is a pain. I purchased into the Flashpoint system to bring the studio and speed lights under one controller. I don't need to have battery powered strobes, but that appears to be the state of the technology for the types of lights I want at this time. My question is how have you found the battery life of the 600 Pro? Has it held up well after numerous recharges?

      Hi Jim, thank you for the question. I have had my first 600Pro since 2018 and bring it to all my on-location shoots. I have not had any battery life issues and feel comfortable bringing the light on multi hours shoots. I would definitely recommend.

    Thanks. I enjoyed the video. What size modifier world you recommend to start? 34” 24” 48”?

      I love my 38" and it's what I started with. If you are typically capturing multiple people then go bigger.

    I like your video and I have a quick question that is can it be used indoor also or not? If it’s used for indoor does it have direct power code instead of using it on battery power. I need this for both indoor and outdoor. Hope you’ll not mind answering my questions, thanks!

      Hi! Thank you for your question. Yes, you can use it for both indoors and outdoors. I do this all the time. The battery is nice because it's wireless and you can place the light anywhere. If you did want to use a power cord you can, but you need to buy that battery & cord combo separately. Best of luck

    I live in Honduras , got the xplore 600 pro , turned it on , but by when I push the red lighted button it doesn't flash.
    Do you think it's a misuse issue or an internal problem of this amazing machine?
    Thanks in advance.

      Do you have a transmitter on your camera? It should flash when you take an image if you have them setup correctly.

    what do you use the Canon speedlite for? Is it used for fill?

    • @NicoleBedardPhotography
      @NicoleBedardPhotography  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, I have used the speedlite for a hair light or to bounce light onto a seamless background.

    Do you ever have misfire issues? I switched back to profoto because of inconsistencies with triggering the flashpoint lights.

    • @NicoleBedardPhotography
      @NicoleBedardPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      I recently encountered a few misfires but this is after years of use. Which profoto did you end up using instead?

    • @JesseStarrPhoto
      @JesseStarrPhoto ปีที่แล้ว

      @@NicoleBedardPhotography I just learned that Godox/Flashpoint triggers allow you to change the transmission distance to 0-30m range that apparently helps a lot with misfires as long as your flash isn’t more than 90 feet away. Might want to try that if you haven’t.
      For Profoto, I use 2 B10, 2 B10 Plus, and a D1 1000. The d1 doesn’t leave the studio.

    Do you know if I can use the godox Xpro trigger with this?

    • @NicoleBedardPhotography
      @NicoleBedardPhotography  ปีที่แล้ว

      I have not tested this. So I'm not 100% if they will be compatible. Thank you for your question.

    • @JesseStarrPhoto
      @JesseStarrPhoto ปีที่แล้ว

      Godox and Flashpoint are the same. The xpro trigger will work.

    Please stop calling the LCD Panel a Touchscreen, very different! Had me poking my screen for nothing!
