My doctor put me on anti-depressants, then high blood pressure meds, and now he's telling me that my cholesterol is a bit high and wants me on cholesterol meds. I've never had these issues before. I need to see a new doctor because now my heart pounds after taking my thyroid meds. Something has to give! All I want is to feel better and feel normal.

Diet and exercise can fix all of the above and you then can get off of all those non thryoid related Rx

What Dr Childs states, other meds can cause contraindications with your thyroid. I had covid in January and my thyroid went crazy. It took 6 months for my dr to gradually get me on the correct mg. to correct my levels. I refuse all meds dr's try to throw at me to counteract an issue that my thyroid is causing. I actually had A-fib while my thyroid was going nuts. A cardiologist determined it was thyroid caused. Since my thyroid is now on track...no more A-fib.

I wish I had had this info many years ago! I've been on thyroid replacement for 45 years, and the first I ever heard about drugs and supplements interfering with thyroid, was less than a month ago. Thank you for getting the word out.

I am post-menopausal, so my body makes zero Estrogen. Therefore I take Estradiol cream from my Naturopath. I’m sure the cream works for several hours topically. But I do use the cream 12 hours away from my NP Thyroid oral medication. I have long been aware that Estrogen blocks thyroid hormone. In any event, I’m only replacing LOST Estrogen, not adding Estrogen to Estrogen.
This is certainly something for 2 Groups to think about: those on BCP’s and those who have Estrogen Dominance. Those with ED who are ALSO on BCP’s get a double whammy of thyroid blocking action. Interestingly, women in these groups often suffer from obesity and may not know their thyroid hormone is being blocked by their BCP’s and/or by their being Estrogen Dominant.

Thank you Dr. Westin for all your informative videos. I have Hashimoto's. I've been taking levothyroxine 50 mcg for 7 years, for the past 2 years I keep losing weight and my weight still going down. Do you think 50 mcg maybe too much? would I need to lower dosage or switch to another type of thyroid medication? Your advice would be greatly appreciated it.

Unfortunately in the UK many doctors don’t care about really really treating your thyroid problems. As long as the blood tests are within range your being treated….. regardless of whether it’s working or not.
I have to slow down your videos as you go through subjects far too quickly.
Saying that I have learned so much from your channel, I’ve even sent your link to the private doctor I’ve had to refer myself to. Because the NHS doctor isn’t interested,

    Dear Dr. Childs,
I took levothyroxine for 12 years due to being hypo per my annual lab work. Never diagnosed with a specific problem and I still have my thyroid. My doctor just said I needed it because my TSH results. Anyway, I watched one of your videos and decided to taper down 25% every 2 weeks until I was off completely. It's been several weeks now and side effects are hanging on tight. BP has been as high as 153/101 but my pulse runs around 57 or in low 60s. I have been taking 4 drops 2% lugol iodine and selenium to try and revive my thyroid. My fatigue seems to be getting better, but high BP makes me nervous.
My doctor refused to help me taper, so that's why I went solo. I did read that these side effects could happen, but would appreciate your thoughts

I developed hypothyroidism after been prescribed lithium (because I was suicidal, but I am not bipolar).
Nobody checked my thyroid, until I developed really serious symptoms (could not walk basically).
Today I no longer take lithium, but the damaged was done ☹️.
I still take antidepressives though. Really would like to find a doctor that could help me propelly optmize my treatments.

You need to find a lawyer. Lithium is a serious drug for serious problems and the patient has to be monitored through blood work on a regular basis to prevent permanent side effects.

@WS10YT-o5v I did place a formal complaint with the health system in the UK and they did an "investigation", but nothing happened. They said they could not know for sure I developed hypothyroidism because of the Lithium and that was it ☹️

Docs have prescribed carbimozole 40mg...and now are tell me to double the dose to taking 2 40mg...please can you tell me what levels of a normal functioning thyroid so that I can know the levels. The docs are looking for. Are these meds doing the job or suppressing activities.... They have also prescribed beta blockers for symptoms I'm experiencing.

Stay away from grains and sugars. Eat organic. And TAKE DIGESTIVE ENZYMES with your big meal. Oh, and eat smaller meals. TriVita makes an enzyme-probiotic combo that is taken before largest meal of the day. It’s called Flora Complete. You need this for proper digestion. If you take ALL processed foods out of your kitchen….and I mean THROW THEM AWAY…you’ll have fewer stomach problems. That especially includes this crap called “salad dressing”, which is poison in a bottle. Don’t shop any of the shelves in the grocery store except for one-ingredient items such as tomato sauce, tomatoes, kidney beans, chicken, tuna, unsweetened organic apple sauce, etc. No boxes…no bags…no flavoring packets (make your own)…you will anti-age your body when you shop whole, fresh, organic, regeneratively farmed, and pastured. No vegetable oils! Pure olive oil….look up which ones are real…most are fake. You don’t need pepcid…which destroys your good gut bacteria….you just need to change what you eat.

I"m curious about Metformin because I also have seen it used because one of it's perhaps side-effects or perhaps uses is weight loss. If you have your thyroid removed (competely) could you use metformin as a means to help you lose weight? (As I understand it, people who have full thyroidectomy's generally gain weight afterwards and it's hard to lose that weight).

Hello Doctor, I was injected with paliperidone 150 mg which has a median life of 50 days and a total of 250. As a result I developed Thyroiditis/ hypothyroidism... my concern is that due to the long life of the drug my thyroid would suffer irreversible consequences or even lead to Hashimoto's... Is there a possibility I could return to normal after elimination of the drug? ( currently taking only t3) Thanks.

Is there any link between Lyme disease and hoshimotos? Treated and untreated Lyme. Or how the body responds to the antibodies. If there even is a link.
I had Lyme disease growing up maybe 15+ years ago and since then have had autoimmune, inflammation, joint, and hormonal issues. Maybe it’s just the body I was born with and not a reaction my body has been having
