Hey! =) A quick clarification for this video: I was unclear in my voiceover that technically several hours/overnight isn't long enough for a proper herbal infusion. Sometimes I will use my oil right away (if I'm being impatient), but make sure to add more oil to cover the herbs completely, cover the jar, and then let the jar sit in front of a sunny window for several weeks. The herbs should be submerged below the oil, and keep an eye to make sure mold doesn't form. After the oil has infused in the mason jar for a few weeks, strain, and add to a dark glass bottle. I will try to be extra clear in future herbal infusion videos. xo
I love how often you’ve been posting lately, it’s been such a treat - I hope you are still giving yourself the time you need to heal though. Love from Northern California 💕
Thank you. 🙏 It's a very sensitive topic, and I will share more soon. I definitely believe that the healing process happens overtime. I have days when I'm overwhelmed with it all, and I'm definitely still grieving, and will be for a long time. I feel guilty sometimes to move forward in life, because everything slowed down so much for months leading up to her passing and after as well. It's hard to know the right timing for getting back to work and creating again. Right now I'm hoping creating content is a healthy outlet for me + I really did need to get back to work. =( I don't know the right answers, but we're all in therapy... I believe she's watching over us! She's an angel now. Thank you for the love.
@@racheltalbott thank you for sharing ❤️ It is definitely a journey and a process. My mom’s biological mom (who she didn’t know) actually passed away at the same age of breast cancer in the 70s. I was so shocked to hear that your sister in law was the same age😔 I really hope that in 30 years from now we see major advancements in cancer research and treatment. It’s just so devastating for so many people.
@@racheltalbott Grief is so hard and comes in waves, sometimes when you don't even expect it too. It's definitely a process overall. Praying for you, your family and her immediate family as well. I love how real and authentic you are in your videos. Your videos seem to provide a sense of calm and peace, I so appreciate that in a space online that sometimes isn't as authentic. Thank you. ❤️
@@racheltalbott Dear know that you're doing whatever best you.. one day when you're comfortable would you mind sharing your therapy and details around it. Might as well help a lot of people like me who are going through tough times as well.
Such a peaceful video with some wonderful tips! Great to see you taking some time for TLC during a difficult season. Praying for you and your family 💕 With love from Christy in Northumberland, UK 🇬🇧
Rachel I started following your channel when I was a young college going girl and now I’m a mommy, your voice is so soothing and your content is as always helpful and motivating…thanks 😀
A little advice for making infused oil since a few hours it's too little and doesn't work well. Fill a glass jar 2/3 of the way full with dried calendula flowers. If using fresh calendula, wilt for 12 hours to remove most of the moisture (too much moisture will cause the oil to go rancid) before adding to the jar. Pour olive oil into the jar, making sure to cover the flowers by at least one inch with oil so they will have space to expand. Stir well and cap the jar tightly. Place the jar in a warm, sunny windowsill and shake once or more daily. After 4 to 6 weeks, strain the herbs out using cheesecloth. Pour the infused oil into glass bottles and store in a cool, dark place.
Thank you so much for this. =) Yes, I will adjust the details in my description, because I was unclear in the voice over. A few hours isn't really enough time for proper infusion. I also should have mentioned that sometimes I do use the oil right away, but if I do I will add more oil and let it sit for several weeks so it gets continually stronger.
