I was almost the first responder; missed it by two! Great job Mercedes! Why can't all engines manufacturers make it this easy to replace an oil filter!

    • @mercedessprinterdiy8556

Right very easy instead of placing it on the bottom of the engine , I remember when I had a Ford and removing the oil filter Hot oil fell on my body sometimes, and so definitely having the oil filter on top less messy

just subscribed to your channel, your explanations are clear and your camera work is steady and precise, well done ,just a note on oil, esp if for the vehicles that are running the DEF systems i believe, I saw one fellow using Mobile 1 diesel truck oil for 500k miles and no issues, I disconnected the DEF system because it was costing way too much for repairs first 2 were $1500 each, def heater and nox sensors so out it came, now I get much better fuel economy and horse power went up to 244. 2014 2500 170 converted now just reached 300,000km, which is 180,000 miles, so did all my fluid changes and filter changes, added Sumo springs, shocks, struts, winter tyres, still to do, add a Hellwig sway bar, change windshield. paint the rocker panels, plastic trim, and bonnet with a bully paint bed liner black, its like a raptor paint but water based made in Australia, water base make sit easy for clean up and touch ups if needed.

I just changed my Oil today with 10,000 miles on it, MB recommends 20,000 miles. I am little concerned about this interval, especially because of my application which is Light Duty, its my Daily Driver, maybe 20 miles per day. This is my second LOF and I wanted to do it early and have the Oil Evaluated at a Lab to see how the Oil is holding up in my application, We will see. BTW, Caterpillar sells an Oil Test Kit for $20.00, which includes a Sample Bottle/Postage to the Lab/E mailed Report. When I get the Report back, I'll be able to make an informed decision on the Mileage Interval!

Hi had you heard something about that, I get a 2008 dodge sprinter 2500, I’m getting the code 2641-008 B60 (Exhaust back pressure sensor ) plausibility error, I just change the sensor and still the code it’s coming back right away it’s cleared, I Check the three wires plug connector, looks ok 5v, solid ground, good continuity signal wire to the Pcm, I put some extra ground from the battery to the frame and motor, Pcm case and nothing, i tested both sensors in another car and works good, the livedata is showing always 5000 hpa or 72.3 psi i think it’s a default value. I check in the other good car and shows the same with the plug disconnect. Any of you guys has heard anything about that, any ideas what could be, thanks

If you look at the filter is vertical so all the oil goes down by gravity no need to do that, that is done with other engines that have the filter installed differently.

@MercedesSprinterDIY, really appreciate your videos. Super clear. Question: When I plugged in 2016 Sprinter 3500 3.0 on the Mobil site is it recommending "your vehicle manufacturer recommends a 0W-30 or 0W-40 viscosity and oil that meets MB-Approval 228.51, MB-Approval 229.31, MB-Approval 229.51 or MB-Approval 229.52." But my local Mercedes parts person says, ESP 5W-30 (which is what you are using in video). Do you know if ESP 0W-30 is just as acceptable as ESP 5W-30? Grandpa Ron here says either: th-cam.com/video/tpgUbKerqvk/w-d-xo.html

On a side note, you are devaluing the vehicle by not having it serviced at a qualified mechanics, since the log books won't be filled in and there will be no record of it's regular service, plus any incidental checks, such as brakes, bushings and transmission leaks that may happen without your knowledge can lead to greater damage if not caught before a catastrophic failure.
Not so much an issue on a second hand vehicle, but on a new vehicle you really want to think about devaluation and resale value.
    Just something to consider.
