    Amazing video. Best on youtube to show how to do a correct oil change on a 3.0 V6 Sprinter. Clear instructions along with torque setting. This guy knows his stuff. Thank you !

      NO, he doesn’t! NEVER ever jack up a Sprinter from the pinch weld. That’s the best way to ruin your Sprinter and crush the body. Do not follow that idiot advice. The Sprinter has specific jack points, only use those.

    Thank you for this well done and explained change process. I'm doing the oil service this week on my 2021 Sprinter 2500 3.0L

    All 3l diesel Sprinters have a dipstick tube, but not all have a dipstick. A dipstick can be ordered through MBZ or other sources. If you need to withdraw extra oil from the crankcase you can use a thin tube and .5l syringe or a boat style oil removal pump. The dipstick tube is located on the right front of the engine near the EGR valve aft of the radiator. The tube is capped with a rubber plug. BTW if you install a dipstick, red ones are for checking when the engine is at operating temperature and blue ones are for checking when the engine is cold. Oh and don’t jack from the pinch weld, use the factory jack points. Jacking from the pinch weld as in the video will damage your unibody Sprinter.

      I have purchased Red dipstick. I think the cold ones are Yellow, not Blue.

    Best how to video on do it yourself oil changes for a 2017 MB Sprinter 3500!! However, what size oil filter wrench is needed? Don’t want to buy a whole set of filter wrenches.

    Don't own one, but always wondered about maintaining one

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The maintenance is not bad, oil changes are about 20k miles apart. Get the diesel version and don't fall for the specs on the gasoline as it has not torque so the engine will wear prematurely.

      I here you on that one. I thought since it 13 qt of oil it would be different but that oil was nasty.

    Is it absolutely necessary to level the vehicle before adding the oil. I’m doing this on the side of the road and don’t have jack, so I drove passenger front tire on the wooden plank to raise that side, but once old oil is out, I can not back up until I complete the service.

    • @RANDOMFIX
      @RANDOMFIX  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It better to be level as the reading can be way off. Just make sure you add enough. It is better to be half a quart low and be able to add it then be over filled on the oil.

    • @californiaballer
      @californiaballer ปีที่แล้ว

      @@RANDOMFIX Thank you! I don’t care about initial reading as long as I can do the oil change safely. I purchased 3 5 quart Mobil 1 ESP bottles and would make sure to fill no more then 12 quarts initially, especially since Sprinter has a pretty large variance in the min-max levels and I think the oil needs to be checked only when engine is hot anyway. I can then add more oil depending on the level.

    • @RANDOMFIX

      Why do you say that? I’m using mbz approved oil that meets the exact specs! Please provide details of your concern.

    • @RANDOMFIX

      Please explain this was mbz approved oil. These oils are really hard to find as there is only about 3 to 4 brands that have these specs.
      I would love to know what I did wrong in the video so I don’t mislead others! Thank you in advance for your feedback.
