Hi pal, a little late to your episodes however they are helping me massively, my gen 1 has recently had camshaft failure somehow on the 2 centre intakes.
So im now stripping down the cylinder head , i have managed to remove the valves. However, i have a valve guid thats shatterd at the bottom. What process do i need to do to remove these as they are incredibly tight? And remove the stem seal too,I was hoping you might of covered it in this episode but unfortunately not.

Hello mate since the titanium valves themselves cant be lap in,by using a slave valve to lap the valve seats. Will the valve still seal even the two surfaces aren't lapped in?

Using the slave valve will remove any imperfections from the seat so it will help the sealing surface. If its the valve causing the problem, replacement is the only option

Did you drain the oil before or after the leak down test in the first video? Does it make a difference?

      Before. Although it shouldn't matter

@@obsession_engineering Ahaa, so the oil doesn't make the seal tighter??

The device you talk of at 2m is called a tripod 😂

Hi, the whole series is very interesting, great job. Did you use the slave valve from S1000R for lapping? What is the lapping paste grade?

I use the finest grade easily available and yes, a slave steel s1000r valve as the size and angles are the same

Do you parrafin test the valve sealing?, i used to mark across the valve seat at several points with a pencil, lap the valves, when the marks are gone it indicates a good seal.

I don't parrafin test but I do usually leak down check again. Although the issue was pretty obvious on this motor which made it easier

Tighter coils go at the bottom because this means that less mass is reciprocating over the larger distance.

The springs go that way up because of unsprung weight. The coil bound end is heavier. 👍
