Hey Dave I have a 2010 s1000rr (43,000km) I have had my first ever miss shift and am wondering if you think changing the Shift star could fix it. BMW apparently made a new shift star because the early model had issues I heard, however I’m not sure if that will fix it all for good. Do not have the money to have the transmission looked at by a professional.
The later shift star is better and more reliable, it's a common problem especially on the early bikes. Alpha do an uprated detent spring too which gives a more positive change
Thanks Dave, have enjoyed watching all of your videos. I was hoping to get an insight to my own BMW. I have the 2012 s1000rr with 45,000 km. Light road use mainly. The clutch has become noisy and I get an intermittent knocking sound. I'm going to do an inspection. There is no clutch slippage. Anything obvious I should look out for. I have the workshop manual and Haynes Manual. There is no mention about a noisy clutch. Thanks for any input.
@@ncaap3575 yes. The clutch housing had play in it. There is a TH-cam with Brocks showing the exact same thing for the s1000rr. The clutch housing has to be replaced. I bought a new one. Pm me your email address if you want more info.
Hi Dave, great video 👍 I plan to replace the shift spring and it helps to see how the clutch does look like and is arranged. Greetz from Germany
A good clear explanation of how the clutch works.
Another great video, 👍
well you are right mate - i cant wait!! thanks again for the share.
Did I miss a bit? I don't remember seeing any pistons going in on the last one.
Can the clutch basket be removed, without taking out the friction plates?
