  • PokerCoaching coach Tristan Wade live reviews a student’s online poker tournament hand history.
He walks through all of the thought processes that you should be considering when deciding what to do on each poker street. Factoring in varying effective stack sizes is a huge consideration when deciding what action to take preflop.
He talks about what hands work well as check-raises on wet flops and why they perform better than a donk bet.
The poker student that he is reviewing has a good sense of aggression but Tristan helps identify some mistakes he is making in his hand selection and 3-bet sizes.
Tristan Wade talks about selective aggression in poker and picking your spots optimally.
On this Poker Coaching channel we cover a weekly poker topic to help improve your poker strategy!
In order to take your poker game to the next level it is vitally important you learn all the nuances of the game.
Do you know what ranges of poker hands you should be playing from each position? When should you 3-bet, call or fold? When is the right time to make a hero call or a huge bluff? Do you know how to play preflop, flop, turn & river effectively and how should your poker strategy change depending on the street? What difference does it make if you are playing multi-way vs heads-up?

What would YOU do preflop with 4♥ 4♦?
    Your Stack (BB): 65bb
    Their Stack (BTN): 32bb
    Pot: 1.5bb
    BTN raises to 2bb
    A) Call
    B) Raise to 9bb
    C) Raise to 32bb (all-in)

Call or 3bet fold to a shove?

Cash or early tournament play, I would call and set mine. Late tournaments especially if icm is a factor I would consider shoving

Check, call a small bet, fold to a big bet. Basically this hand is super-depended on the flop. So I'll try to see the flop for as cheap as possible. And fold to aggression, assuming big cards that crush us.

7:10 I disagree. In general, I am in the GTO crowd, but guys like Charlie Carrel are right when they say NOBODY raise folds that spot, so having AA or the Ac doesn't really matter. ALL overpairs should be jamming imo because 80% of players are going to have some sort of combo draw here.

I play small stakes tournaments on pokerstars those are big field tournaments 2,3,4 000 players but there is a lot of bad players that make big mistakes, and I often end up in top 50, top 20 but never on a final table last 5 tournaments I ended in top 20 but not on a final table. In the most important moment something very very strange occurs and I bust the tournament. For example I had KK guy had KJ all in and he wins. hahaha... It is becoming very frustrating but I try my best over and over again I have to win I know I will win sooner or later.

Was this a bad play from a risk / reward perspective
8 handed 3 from the bubble.
    Hero 45BB villain 40BB
Villain raises to 2.2 from UTG +1
    Folds to hero in BB
    Calls with K♤ J♡
    Flop is A♤9♤8♤
Hero check UTG bets 2 BB hero calls
    Turn is J◇
Hero checks UTG bets 4 BB Hero checkraises to 12 BB villain calls
(Logic for bluff is the preflop action and my blockers cap him at 1 pair or a set) river is 3♡ I shove allin because I have all the flushes and straights in my BB range. He Folds A◇Q♤ face up and say " look at the s*** it's never a bluff they always have it here"

I think since you hold the king of spades it's a fine play, especially considering you have him covered and are putting him at risk of basically bubbling the tournament with a non-nut hand

35:18 I mean what if they have J9 suited or 9J w/e he will have a bigger straight then you. Not sure I agree w that. Rest are solid calls

At time 7:00 with AA in the CO, would it have been better to raise 3.5x with the button still to act behind?

  • @YTSparty

I would characterize these hands in one sentence "That was a really bad move, and he gets a fold". LOL.
It reminds me of Matt Berkey. He live-streamed his hands during the pandemic for WSOP and dude is really aggressive, bluffs a lot. I kept thinking, someone is going to bust this guy. Never did. Ppl kept folding. It looked like crap poker to me and Berkey kept getting to final tables.

    I got a question
At lower level when you got K4 at late posiztion and you know all the players are passive. Non one will raise after your limp.
Its good to limp and see the flop?

Maniacal IS a word. You just need to pronounce it the proper way so it doesn't sound like it isn't one (Man-Eye-ical)! hah. I like the video though! Thanks for all the explanations!

Who's hand history is this? Tony G? 😂
Nah Tony G would never min-raise anything, especially if he makes any pair.
Its such a "I came to Gamble and chew bubblegum... and I am out of bubblegum" playstyle.
