- How to make pop up boilies (floating baits) for carp fishing. No microwave needed. The homemade boilies in this recipe are made from cereal, egg, cream corn, flour, cork, and butter flavor. It's no secret that boilies can be some of the best bait for carp. It can be pretty satisfying to catch fish with bait that you made yourself. Thanks for watching.

You can get them to float without the cork by microwaving them instead for 30 sec or a little more. Boil for sinking, microwave for floating.
Guess you must have skipped over the part where I talked about why I'm not a fan of the microwave method. 🙂
I though you had lost your mind when you put the whole cork in there... HA HA..... I always thought microwaving them made them float, the cork is a AWESOME IDEA... will be making. bigmuddyfishing
It's pretty hit and miss with the microwave method in my experience. Sometimes they float, sometimes not. These will float for sure.
Just watched this that is a great idea. Just some info for anyone interested. If you go to Olive garden and ask if they have any old wine corks they will give them to you. I got a bag full
Seems like a lot of extra work to make them float . Would it not be easier to use wood sawdust ? I'm always looking for alternatives . I have been using natural corn puffs which float , but they aren't available anymore at my local stores .

Not a bad recipe buddy, I have a similar one with honey nut O's and putting dry feed corn in the blender until I get a powder, this limits how much creamed corn needed without losing the corn flavour but it doesn't created to much of a sticky mix. I put them into a roller with it being a dryer mix and can quickly roll a bunch at once.

And on a serious note... What water temp do you look for to start fishing for carp... I know I can get channels down in low 30s just need to find where they are holding cause they aren't.moving much... Do I think carp would be similar?
Haha, I used to be a wine drinker but not anymore. Still have lots of corks though. To be fair, the cork is not an original idea that came from me. I read about it somewhere. I've caught carp in 30's water, but it's pretty slow. Based on my experience and what I've read, the magic number seems to be around 40 when they start getting more active and into spring feeding mode.

Do the boilies swell? If I make a 12 mm will it swell larger than that after cooked/boiled?
They swell a little bit when cooked, and shrink back down when they dry.
