I bought one bag of sweet feed and the only thing I got was grain mites 🤣 I used it once and I got 6 carps it worked but after I saw all those grain mites all over the bag and floor I had to throw it away. Love your videos bro and thanks for all the info 🤘😎🤘🎣🎣🎣
Sweet feed mixed with oats, cream corn, a couple of overipened bananas, banana flavoring, and soured whole kernel sweet corn has been a game-changer for me for channel catfish. The channel catfish can't seem to get enough of it. I strain the soured corn juice from the whole kernel sweet corn and save it to use as needed to moisten my pack bait if it is too dry. I bought my 12% sweet feed from Tractor Supply for $12.00 a bag. A few days ago, I caught 11 channel catfish, and 9 were keepers. One of them was 30-inches long. I've really been catching nice numbers and sizes of channel catfish on this for the last few years. I store my sweet feed and other pack bait ingredients in 5-gallon buckets with a screw-on lid. I buy the screw-on bucket lids from Lowe's. They are very good and a little cheaper than the Gamma Seal screw-on lids.
Good video. I am a fan of match and carp fishing in the U.K. but the ground bait they use is hard to get here in the U.S. so I really appreciate what you use. Keep up the good work.
One tip: depending on your area you may have a hard time finding a pellet feed with molasses in it. Lot of horse people don’t want the molasses. I use a hog pellet feed with great success the exact same way Tom does.
My dad always told me they would put sweet feed into burlap bags, tie them off with rope and throw them in their carp holes to bait them in several days before going carp fishing. He said they'd suck the color off the bags sometimes lol.
my go to prebait recipe has been equal parts boiled feed corn and oats, cattle cubes, and sweet feed. i find the corn draws the fish in and they grub heavily for the rest
Thanks Tom, information is always a tool. Showing us how it is, cool that you respond to the frequently asked ?'s. Saw that one coming up in the comments. Yeah guys, we read 'em too. It's fun, I enjoy 'em, thanks for sharing!!
Hi Tom. Im do carp fishing is South Africa. We here use all so s pak bait kind of made out of grinde up maze. But we use a lot of bait dips with it. The brand what i use is called Formost carp baits. Look it up. It is most in one of our local language but use sub titles. Thank you.
I use chicken feed as bait, they way to get it to bind is to grind it dry in a coffee grinder or such then add 2 cups flour to 3lbs and 4oz Karo syrup mixed with your water. Works good had a 29lber on it last night even, always just assumed sweet feed was too sticky to grind but maybe would work the same
I tried the T&S Prime sweet feed after watching one of your older videos and used the “normal” oats and cream corn on two rigs and the sweet feed version on my other 2 rigs fishing the Brazos River above Lake Whiney and I cast the second sweet feed out and already had a 7 pound carp that quick… I caught them on both… but I just use your recipe now for that year and a half and add about 2 teaspoons of Anis oil (just because I guess). Good video and great fishing!
Maybe try just corn syrup with pellets. Put flavoring in syrup first and pore over bait and let sit for a couple of hours. You'll have to wet hands first before packing, but should work. Maybe😅
The last time I made pack bait I threw in some senior horse feed we have for our horse. I just used oats in the past. This time though the pack bait seemed to stick together a lot better. Either that or I just happened to get the ratio perfect. I used canned yams as well so maybe it was the yams? Senior horse feed is more than twice the price of sweet feed so I won't be using much of it. 🤑
Thank you for this and all your vids and tips. You renewed my carp fishing interest. Question - how would you fish a lake that’s loaded with weeds (as far as you can cast a bait?) from the shore. Clueless here - every cast just brings back gobs of weed. Thanks much!
Im just imagining what my landlord would think about if i had a big bag of horse feed in my apartment. I would have to get a garbage can to store it in. It would smell pretty good though i'd imagine.
I was able to make a Sweet Feed and Molasses pack bait by soaking the sweet feed in a bucket of molasses for a couple weeks. I do not recommend this as it took a lot of work and I don't feel it was worth the effort. I ended up just packing it down into balls to sling shot out. So this experiment went under too much cost and effort verses normal packbaits and spod mixes.

You ever catch any stray carp using that mix?

Will do, thanks!
I've been using your recipe for over 3 years. I'll add canned fruits, etc, like you do sometimes. It's simple and just plain works. Thank you
Glad to hear it, thanks!

Great tip!
Tom thank you you should write your own cook book for carp it would be a great seller 👍👍👍
Oh man! I ordered Koi and goldfish pellets from Amazon. Seems to be working great for me!!

i use sweet feed in my panko pack bait in place of quick grits.
I know what I'm having for breakfast! Will let you know.
Very helpful.

Good video on explaining how and why you use Sweet Feed, like I said before you would have made a good teacher.
I appreciate that, thanks David!
He teaches us something every video!! So, he IS a teacher.
@@stevestuffmusicstudio6770 Yes you are right, Tom is a teacher, I have learn a lot from his videos.

Theisen's is another place to get it
Where do you buy the bulk oats at to avoid the pesky grocery store? Thanks Drew
There's a link in the description.
Has anyone in here ever used cattle cubes? If so how did it go?

I have had that problem and the only thing you can do is fine another place to fish until the weeds die down.
Yep, what David said, finding a new lake is really the only option. Maybe fish that lake in the early spring before the weeds get thick.
Thank you both

What happened with the ebike fishing trips??
That whole area got flooded. Will be a while before I can get back in there.
I use cheap dry Cat food.
