      My P261 has a weird issue where it’ll just power up for have a second when I hit the switch and then just turn off. I’m hesitant to send it in for warranty repair because they’ll probably say it’s fine and then I’m stuck with paying the fee to send it in. $159 seems like a good deal to me right now anyway since it’s twice the torque.

    I've been hoping and waiting for Ryobi to step up with a more powerful 1/2 impact wrench. My P261 is one of my most used tools, but it just doesn't have the power to break larger fasteners (like on control arms) loose. Looks like Ryobi answered the call. Definitely getting this when it comes out.

    I've got the original single speed Ryobi impact wrench. It's one of the most used tools in my shop. I absolutely love it. Every now and then, though, I find a fastener that it won't break free. Based on your test, I think one of these new hotnesses is coming home with me...

    I'm really excited about this product. I was just in the market for a Milwaukee 2861 but I wasn't excited about having to buy another battery system and charger. I already have the ryobi 18v for my nail gun. I can buy the tool only and be ready to go! Upgraded from an older 18v kit. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.

    I started with the 261 ... than added a 262 to the stable. 262 is TWICE the impact! Don't get me wrong, I still use the 261 for basic things, but the 262 is my go to! RYOBI also stands behind their tools ... my FIRST 262 had an internal failure about a year on from purchase ... I sent it back, and they shipped me a BRAND NEW one to replace it. I've slowly, but surely, transitioned all my battery tools to RYOBI over the last couple years. In fact, the only time I turn on my compressor is to air tires! lol

  • @JesseLJohnson
    @JesseLJohnson 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    That is pretty impressive. I just bought a new Milwaukee a month or so ago. Home Depot had such a good deal on them at $199 and they came with a battery, charger, bag, and the 3/8 ratchet along with a battery for that and the charger that does both batteries. My old Dewalt has had it. I have quite a few Ryobi tools though so maybe I will buy one of these too since I already have batteries. Maybe the Direct Tools store at the outlet will get some factory 2nds in and I can get one there pretty cheap just to have it. They have I think 2 different 1/2 Ryobi impacts already don't think they are brushless I don't know but they go on sale for $50 or so pretty often.

    I think this line looks more promising than those so called compact line that was announced before. I like what I am seeing with new impact wrenches, but they need to keep the prices more affordable. I think the whole purpose of Ryobi is like having a separate line from Milwaukee, so you don't have to pay premium for every tool you don't really use often.

    • @Shoptoolreviews
      @Shoptoolreviews  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is a bit confusing that the price is getting pushed up pretty close to the Milwaukee line...and performance as well. The legitimate gap between the two made the decisions much easier. It does seem to be getting a little muddy/gray now. The great part is, both are making great power tools right now. Thanks for watching.

    • @kartboarder22g17
      @kartboarder22g17 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@juanc5149 well of course not, I'm just wondering how much larger is it then the new mid-torque and what is the weight comparison? Cause honestly if you are in Milwaukee, Dewalt, Makita, or another tool brand it almost makes sense to be in Ryobi too just because they offer some cheap little tools that are beneficial. Like glue gun, hand held inflator that works great when doing wood projects, etc. Plus this new Ryobi is only like $160 compared to the Milwaukee mid torque at $220.

    • @drjd2real
      @drjd2real 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      After actually using the Ryobi stuff I don't really care about the comparisons anymore. I'm not stupid. I know Milwaukee is better, but it is overkill for my needs. If Ryobi was cutting out or smoking I would have been moved on to another brand. They will keep on making them stronger because my new Ryobi are stronger than my older Ridgid.

I also have the old brushed version of this 1/2 drive, now i know they are coming out with brushless version. I need to compare the specs of the two. Thank you.

      @@globalcommerce7654 i spent yesterday replacing the front suspension on my 2000 saturn. the p261 was simply invaluable. the last bit of the job, attaching the new sway bar, would have taken an hour trying to crank away with a ratchet. we were able to get it attached in seconds. i'm no spring chicken and a ratchet workout like that would kill me. these power tools, but especially the p261, are invaluable. my freind who was helping me, who is also a ryobi man, we have come to the conclusion the p261 is ryobi's greatest tool ever. its never failed to take off a fastener on either of my cars and turns all day suspension work into 1/2 or 2/3rds of a day. no other manufactuer makes a 300 ft lb impact that you can buy for $99. yeah its not the latest brushless technology but it gets the job done. its the only tool i;ve gladly bought twice. i had one drop shipped to my dad who is in his 70s. my mother told me he had to change the tire on their mercury a couple of weeks ago and that he came back in from doing the job and just sat there quietly. my mom asked him what was wrong. he said nothing, it only took a few minutes to get the tire changed because of the p261. he was sitting there contemplating every time he worked on a car or mower in his life, which was a lot since he owned a lawn service for 20 years, how much of his life he could have gotten back if he'd had an impact wrench.
      if you own cars or trucks and do your own work, a impact wrench is a must have tool. are there better impacts available than ryobi, yes. but not for $100 their aren't.

      My bet is so that they don't cannibalize sales of their current 1/2" 18V impact. They've recently been running a bunch of sales on them, probably in the process of clearing out current channels. That one is 300ft/lbs - respectable for a budget home-garage cordless impact but absolutely nothing compared to 600ft/lbs. No one is going to buy the old one when this one is available, even if there is a 25-35% price difference
