Exactly, the thing is, many people do not understand the difference between static and dynamic friction. A faster tightened to 600ftlb will require more than 600ftlb to break the static friction. Especially if rusty...
I am a contractor,,,,I own a lot of Ryobi stuff and it all works good enough for me. The P261 variant takes off 15/16 lugs off my 9,000 lb skid steer like butter. Very satisfied with all their products.
Upgraded from an older 18v kit. th-cam.com/users/postUgkxW1vOBRCMrgTCDEijzpVzDWsgI-Jm2iQv I independently chose the drill and impact tool, before I came across the kit.I like the 3 speed impact gun. It seems more powerful than my older one, and it can be set to be really gentle. The drill is more appropriately sized for my use. I used to have a hammer drill, but I did not like that it was so big and it was not a great hammer drill. I rather have a smaller drill like this, and then get a corded hammer drill for the odd case I need that.
Firearm reference during a tool review immediately gets a thumbs up from me. Thanks for doing this, I've been waiting to see real world experience with this new impact wrench so I appreciate you posting this. Now back to the video...
@@TacticalThib Getting a camera into some more real world places these are used and showing the specs is not an easy task. This tool is amazing and a must have for a ryobi user.

Appreciate the in-depth video. I'm a DeWalt kind of guy, but veered over to Ryobi for an impact driver which worked great, so thought I'd look into getting an impact wrench to add to it and you did a great job showing it's capabilities. Really helps John Q Consumers make smart purchases
This is cool, but I'm very happy with my P261. Just today I used it to break the retaining bolt on an 20-year-old upper control arm. It's a real life-saver.
Very impressive to see it hit specs your the only channel to show this and use a torque wrench other channels are showing it install lag bolts thanks for the review brian @WorkshopAddict
HP tool with HP battery, check. Testing different AH packs, check. Hi, this was the best of the >MANY< tests of the p262 I've seen. You've earned yourself a subscriber!
Nice to see its pretty close to actual spec. I needed to tighten a weight distribution hitch to 380ft and nowhere around me had a torque wrench rated over 250ft. So I said screw it and bought this... Worked out well
My p261 died last month. I got my money's worth out of it after a few years. Working on my peterbilt was preferred over the Milwaukee 2767. The 2767 is a little to heave and bulky. Now I'm getting ryobi for my cars and the Milwaukee medium thork for my semi.
Nice tool!!! My sister had ryobi power tools. Our birthday is tomorrow ( Nov 4) I'm get her this for her so she can add to her tools! 🔧 🔨 thx for the video
Ive used the old brushed model for many things auto repairs , lower control arms/suspension forks/engine trans mounts/brakes/ everything and it held up great and still running atrong. There old model was perty good
Very happy to see Ryobi stepping up their game... Now we have cheaper options besides the Milwaukee mid torque. Me personally going with the Milwaukee mid torque, I have invested over 4k in Milwaukee tools, but still a nice option.
I just switched from Ryobi to Milwaukee and now they come out with this tool haha. I had the older gen Ryobi 1/2 that was advertised at 300 ft/lbs but I felt that it wasn’t truly at that capacity. I also had the Ryobi impact driver but it was just so bulky for auto mechanic work. Ryobi is great for DIY for the price but I decided to invest into Milwaukee since I work on cars a lot on the side. The older gen Ryobi was still great, I used it a lot for suspension but I wanted the compact size of Milwaukee and I feel as if the M12 Stubby is stronger then the older gen Ryobi. I can’t wait for more tests from this new Ryobi, I still definitely recommend to others for the price point.
Ryobi is starting to come out with a more compact lineup of tools compared to their regular line up. Granted they're not quite as compact as the Milwaukees still, especially because the bulk of the 18v battery is still present, but compared next to their regular sized Ryobi counterparts there is a pretty big difference
Milwaukee guy to Ryobi guy. Never looking back. Doesn't matter anymore as everything is made overseas anyway. Amazed at how much I saved compared to Milwaukee. Even the snap-on guys borrow my Ryobi tools now😂
I returned the Ryobi HP impact driver for Milwaukee 's new surge...big difference right away. I like the Ryobi platform but Im not second guessing any more in regards to power. Milwaukee isnt that much more expensive. Sanders, drills - i have Ryobi but when i need torque I ll stick w Milwaukee.
was looking for an impact to redo my rear shocks in my truck and they are so rusted that hand tools dont do nothing to them and this Drill is $100 for the Ryobi Days at home depot rn and this has sold me ima buy it, cause $400 for a milwakee impact that ill use probally once doesn't seem appealing to me
Looks like I’ll be expanding my ryobi collection even more. Currently I have the old Chicago electric impact gun. It’s huge and cumbersome and struggles a bit with lug nuts. As a first time home owner and diy mechanic I’ve enjoyed ryobi as my go-to option for the convenience of interchangeable batteries at a lower cost. Plus they feel more high quality than their price point.
Ryobi has brought some really good tools and this impact is a must. 600lbs of torque for 150 dollars its super good without breaking your pocket😆. It this guy is taking it to its max. I will definitely will get one after it comes out. I like the way that it's really compact.
I have several Ryobi tools. The first Ryobi tool that I bought was about 2001. I still have it it's a drill driver and I've gone through nicad battery packs. It handles the new lithium ion battery packs perfectly as it should. The reason I have stuck with Ryobi is the following the replacement battery packs are among the lower cost battery packs out there. Ryobi has dedicated its production and designs to continue using the same battery pack configuration for about 20 years now. That's important. I also had a set of Black & Decker Firestorm tools. The charger that came of this $500 set was absolute drunk you don't charge tool batteries overnight you charge them for an hour or two maybe couple hours whatever but not overnight. The batteries did not hold the charge worth a damn. And I discovered much to my dismay if you dropped the drill driver off the back of the sofa onto a padded carpeted floor the drill driver with shatter and disassemble itself down to its component level. I have dropped my Ryobi tools not often but I have dropped them never so much as a grumble from the tool. They're durable and as you can see from the age of my first product they seem to last. Then you look at the cost of rail be tools and they are cost-effective. I'm not going to sit here and argue whether or not there is good as brand x. I haven't tried every tool brand there is out there. I do believe in buying the tool that fits your budget to get the job done. Yes it might be nice to have that gollywog new fancy tool that claims to do everything to wash the dishes but you only have the money for an impact driver. Reality needs to set in you look at how much money you have and then you go find the best product you can for your money. If you're drilling a hole and you're using a cheap bit and a cheap drill the whole will still get made it may take longer but it will be drilled. And the hole doesn't know the difference! Get the tools that you need the quality should be based off of how frequently you're going to use tool. I actually have a corded hammer drill half inch Chuck, I only need it for drilling concrete I have a total of three half inch drills in addition to this one. the stroll will drill through concrete no problem drought you cinder block no problem I use it with one bit most of the time and that's one for punching through both sides of a cinder block. I bought the drill about 1998 and it still works great! How much did I pay for this wonder of the modern age? Funny you should ask it cost me $10 at big lots. This tool was so inexpensive no one put their name on it I literally cannot find a name on the drill. But I didn't care I had a hole I needed to drill through four inches of concrete and I needed a hammer drill so I got it. Probably the best $10 I spent on tools my entire 60 year life. You don't have to have the best you just need the tool that will get the job done for you based on how often you will or won't use it.
That's why I decided to go with Ryobi. They have changed to newer battery technologies but they keep the same connector so the old tools can still be used with the newer batteries.
Great video. I'm definitely getting it in the morning lol. I love the price and the quality of these tools. As a contractor I don't have to abuse my tools for light jobs I do on my projects and Ryobi tools has never disappointed me in 9 years.
Great video. Would you consider using a paint marker or something to mark the socket during your test? Sometimes it's a little hard to tell if anything's moving. But I love all your videos they're very helpful.
Awesome!! right now, Home Depot has this offer running right now, ONE+ HP 18V Brushless Cordless 1/2 in. Hammer Drill Kit with (2) 2.0 Ah Batteries, Charger, and Bag, and get this impact wrench free, just got me 3 of them for Christmas gifts, even with that little battery, was able to remove Toyota and Honda lug nuts.
I know this is old, but I feel like Ryobi really got the automotive dept right even to some degree improving in some areas over the Milwaukee ones that were released before the Ryobi's. The question comes down to how long the Ryobi's are going to last when compared to Milwaukee. One thing to note, the Ryobi High Torque is not as strong as the Milwaukee, but....it beats Milwaukee by being more compact and shorter in length (can Milwaukee make it more compact with the next gen?). Now, you can't say the same for the Mid torque as it's about 1-1/4 in longer than the Milwaukee mid torque, but performance wise is almost identical when paired with the specific HP battery.
Thanks for taking the time to do this. I'm usually welding at work but I'm working on Pendot trucks lately and could use a decent/affordable impact so we dont have to share the company's Milwuakee one lol.

Reminds of my Ridgid mid-torque impact wrench. Obviously both owned by TTI but regardless they seem similar. All the brands are starting to overlap each other.
Yes this is exactly the conclusion I came to when trying to work out why we don't have this is Australia (yet?). We do have the ridgid (aeg in Aus) that has the same specs and very similar design. I hope we get this ryobi here. Some other ryobis I noticed we don't have are the new subcompact ones and the little cut-off grinder thing.

Thinking of getting one since the one I got from autozone isn't worth it couldn't take off a lug nut that was tighten with a air impact at the tire shop
In the Car and Truck Mechanic World. This is a Favorite!!!💙💪 BEAST People really shouldn't use 3/8 Impacts in 1/2 Impact Work. 3/8s should ONLY be used with 80lbs toque or less and on fasteners 5/8ths and Under. 1/2 on everything above.
4:19 22 seconds is not my idea of it removing the bolts, yes it did but it took 22 seconds ??? When i pull lug nuts or heavy body bolts, if they dont break loose within 5 seconds, i go to something stronger.

Dude I just want to drive down to the de-pot right now to get one🤦🏽♂️ Update: I got the gun, bag, battery for $100 we couldn’t be happier together.🤰🦧 The deal turned heads. the gun alone is 140. then the 4ah batteries you have to get in a 2 pack another 80 mind you still need a charger😄 the down side to just buying the charger is that comes with a 2ah battery. They should have made it a 4 or a 6 and jacked it up a bit. Anyway still awesome and helpful to have in a pinch. Also happy I don’t need a compressor now and I’m done. ✌️
Did you use auto mode the whole time? Or did you use speed setting 3 when testing the 600 ft/lbs. rating to tighten/loosen the bolt after tightening it down with the torque wrench to 600ft/lbs? Or speed setting 2 when testing the 450 ft/lbs. rating? Thank you, I do enjoy your videos. 👍

The tri light is the best no shadows, Ryobi has to get rid of their stem battery system, they have stepped up their game though I see so many contractors using Ryobi now because they cost half the price and do pretty much the same job as the big name's
Cost the half but durability over time is what you pay for with other high end brands. You dont buy Ryobi if you need the tool every day at work. I have Ryobi at home, but at work I use blue Bosch or Makita

The Ryobi does not carry the same motor as the others. The company that makes Kobalt now, used to make the Crappy Craftsman CP3 stuff for sears. My money on impacts is with TTI.
@@WorkshopAddict No. Craftsman C3 tools were from TTI. They had a LOT of tools that had the SAME part number as Ryobi and Ridgid, and I could even repair few Ryobi tools from Craftsman C3 parts. My uncle had the same one he sold when he had a heart attack because he thought he wasn't gonna be able to work anymore but once he got back in shape he was so upset that he sold his tractor
@@loucifer323 There were not many made so it is fairly hard to find info and parts for it. Some are the same as the super cheap and others are flat out impossible to find.
Can you do a comparison of the PBLIW01K1 impact vs the P262 impact?? Its supposed to have 1,170 ft-lbs of loosening torque.
Subbed just because you said it reminded you of a Gen4 Glock. Lol! Great reference!
Big fan from India 👍
Hey do you think a 4.0 ah battery will be enough for taking off lug nut off of an car?
Reminds of my Ridgid mid-torque impact wrench. Obviously both owned by TTI but regardless they seem similar.
All the brands are starting to overlap each other.
They are Dutch, but in some ways the Ridgid line is getting smaller. Might have something to do with a small scuffle with Emerson.
GREAT REVIEW THANKS FOR SHARING
Solid wrench. Clear Video! Lovin that ole’ Farmall 404! I learned on my Dad’s old Farmall.
👍👍👍✌🏻✌🏻✌🏻😁🇺🇸
Right on
As always great video my friend!!!
Since I have a bunch of batteries ill get this one when it gets on sale.
I have Dewalt mid impact which I love and been putting it through heavy duty use.
An spare won't be a bad idea or to have it in the car when on the road.
Greetings!!!
Thinking of getting one since the one I got from autozone isn't worth it couldn't take off a lug nut that was tighten with a air impact at the tire shop
Make sure you are using an HP battery. No small compact batteries on any impact wrench.
just confirming in case you were wondering. i actually understood your glock gen 4 reference. :p
Ryobi came a long way with power tools
Nice vid. But would be good to put some colour markers on the socket piece so the viewrs can see any rotation .
Great suggestion!
Lol they come out with this after I started getting into the milwaukee line. I guess I still have a bunch of batteries and may consider getting this.
Perfect timing ( well 5 months late) but was just about to get the 3/8 version but for the price may well do that one
4:19
22 seconds is not my idea of it removing the bolts, yes it did but it took 22 seconds ???
When i pull lug nuts or heavy body bolts, if they dont break loose within 5 seconds, i go to something stronger.
Just got mine. So far so good.
No body I know would be caught dead with a ryobi tool in their hands. We must associate with different crowds.
Wow, high class...,.......
Hey I was in a sears hardware outlet 😅 a I Picked up A set of MET WRENCHES For 49.95 😮 there were two more complete sets. I Should have Baught them all at that Price. But I was with a Woman of course. So I Made a big mistake , we broke up and I could have made some extra money. But at this point, I would have 3 Sets of the best WRENCHES you can buy. Check you can buy. If you are familiar they fit everything american standard METRICS, British standards and you can take off JUST about any rounded off Nut or bolt. SO you youngsters and you older gentlemen listen to me, a good looking piece of ass you just met and don't have to much trust in. Go for the set of WRENCHES 😊 SHIT HAPPENS BUT THOSE WRENCHES Will last longer than that good Piece of ass . JUST TRYING TO TEACH YOU YOUNG GENTLEMEN AND ESPECIALLY YOU YOUNGSTERS. SOMETHING GOT IT. TAKE CARE CARL!!!😊
Dude I just want to drive down to the de-pot right now to get one🤦🏽♂️
Update: I got the gun,bag,battery for $100 we couldn’t be happier together.🤰🦧
The deal turned heads. the gun alone is 140. then the 4ah batteries you have to get in a 2 pack another 80 mind you still need a charger😄 the down side to just buying the charger is that comes with a 2ah battery. They should have made it a 4 or a 6 and jacked it up a bit. Anyway still awesome and helpful to have in a pinch. Also happy I don’t need a compressor now and I’m done. ✌️
This is still one of the best impact wrenches. Prices will just keep going down and it’s enough for anything car related.
I'd like this for smaller jobs that won't require frequent battery changes. But, Other than that, I'm going Air for sure.
thanks for including the HP test
Great demo,..... extremely helpful. Truly appreciate it. You are the best! A++++
Did you use auto mode the whole time? Or did you use speed setting 3 when testing the 600 ft/lbs. rating to tighten/loosen the bolt after tightening it down with the torque wrench to 600ft/lbs? Or speed setting 2 when testing the 450 ft/lbs. rating? Thank you, I do enjoy your videos. 👍
I used speed 3 for all testing. The only change was with the batteries used.
If this is priced similar to the P261 then I'm sold.
150 ish bare tool
@@WorkshopAddict in the same ballpark. You have a release date?
@@soggyfries4347 All I know is soon. Sorry.
@@WorkshopAddict Sometime in February supposedly.🤞
Thanks for doing this!
Great practical demonstration, thanks
So this replaces a breaker bar but not a torque wrench? How would you set torque on this,?
very good review, that hand wrench is scary big
Pretty cool to see coming out of ryobi.
It is worth it just 2 use it taking off wheels an doing break service i was just wondering cuz I want to buy 1 an I never owned 1 b4 thanks
Yes.
Bought this dog.... only to find the higher powered erosion in the store literally weeks later... I needed more power - guessing most won't...
Still bogus rollout. I wish the folks in the store had let me know.
Whats the difference between one+ batteries and HP+ batteries? profit margins?
Cell and Amp discharge rates.
Does anyone know what that parts called 2:30 min. That connected the 1/2 inch?
I was hoping you were going to review this tool Brian, I'm going to pick one up when they have a sale, it's all I need anymore. I'm hoping you review the new Ryobi SDS rotary hammer drill too. I have a Bulldog but I've been trying to get rid of all of the different battery platforms (Dewalt, Makita, Bosch, etc.,etc.).
I love the old Farmall, reminds me of visiting my uncles farms up-North when I was young. Today's tractors ain't got no soul. 🚜
Right on
@@WorkshopAddict Brian, looks like someone hijacked part of your video.

@@Pro1er That guy is me. LOL. That is our other channel and I am trying out the TH-cam shorts videos to see if I wanted to do it on this channel. I do appreciate the heads up!
@@WorkshopAddict Ah, I didn't know. I'll have to go back and subscribe.
*EDIT:* D'oh! I didn't even notice the channel's name. I should have checked.
Good real life testing on that old tractor 👍. Good value compared with a Milwaukee at least twice the price. Waiting to get one once it's available.
Im thinking of buying this ryobi impact wrench and have a 5 amp (non hp battery) Will my 5amp battery be enough to run this impact wrench to get close to its fastening/nut busting torque?
Great video
Look quite similar to the Rigid Mid Torque. I was quite surprised to find my Rigid Mid Torque has more power than my Milwaukee Gen 1 Mid Torque.
Holy torque wrench batman! Sorry, I digress. I have that impact and its a beast. Very nice to see how it performs with controlled real-life testing.
Battery Matters? I have the small batteries 24-WH - will that work?
Looks like leftover parts from the Ridgid octane mid-torque. To make the Johny home owners happy but in green
The tri light is the best no shadows, Ryobi has to get rid of their stem battery system, they have stepped up their game though I see so many contractors using Ryobi now because they cost half the price and do pretty much the same job as the big name's
I really enjoy the IR impact light better than all others, but... I am a tool snob. LOL
Cost the half but durability over time is what you pay for with other high end brands. You dont buy Ryobi if you need the tool every day at work. I have Ryobi at home, but at work I use blue Bosch or Makita
@@Hofstader007 But big companies use it as disposable tool
@@loucifer323 Its a tool. If you cant do your job with it, its not a tool anymore. What do you expect, they dont last forever? If you need to buy 3-4 Ryobi tools instead of one quality brand. You loose time and money instead.
The snout looks a lot like the Ridgid mid torque, and similar specs and features. Do you think they badge engineered, or do you think they have different components inside?
I like the Ridgid with it's mode selector on top, I like this with it's mode selector out front, but I hate the Milwaukee with it's mode selector right where my pinky lands when I pick it up from hanging by the belt hook. That damn thing is always in auto or 1!
I’m getting this thing
🎉NEW RYOBI PBLIW01B ONE+ HP 18V Brushless 4-Mode 1/2" High Torque Impact Wrench
So it looks like the new hp batteries make little or no difference?
I’d use a shallow socket especially at 600 ft lbs unless a deep or mid socket is truly needed
Good to know!
I wanna know which impact driver you referred to that had more torque than the gen 3 when trying to break the grizzly adapter
Hey pit a link in to where u can get that torque wrench
What did you connect with 1/2 in? What is that called and size
Just saw Tool Review Zone do a video on this tool also 👌 nice work brian @WorkshopAddict
I just seen one on HD site that said over 1000fp. I am so tempted to get it although I still have the old one before brushless came out that works fantastic and I doubt I'd ever need it but I bought the one handed Sawzall and the hammer drill which I love. I also have pretty much everything in brushed but I do like the brushless a lot
That's the high torque, this is the mid torque. It's a freaking monster with a 4 ah HP battery or more.
@@Recker45-70 yeah I have a bunch of 4ah batteries. I have a few 6ah but I don't notice much difference between them in power other then they last a bit longer. Honestly I don't notice a difference in the hp batteries at all. I can definitely tell the difference between a 2ah and a 4ah or higher though. Anyway I didn't purchase the impact although I'd love to have it. I still have the original one and it works great for what I need. Honestly I don't use it very often but when I do need it it's awesome.
What is the measurement/size of the sockets that fit this
I really WANT this model, but sadly it's not available in the UK, so looks like I'm gonna have to order it from the U.S. and get it shipped over the pond.
Same for Australia but maybe it's coming later? Anyone have any idea on this?
We model is still not official out! So better wait little more than buy online and u dont know what u buying
TTI owns ryobi at 600ft and ridged 620ft and Milwaukee at 650ft of nut busting torque with all at 450ft torque tighten. Same motor it looks whats different? How will this do vs cobalt xtr?
The Ryobi does not carry the same motor as the others. The company that makes Kobalt now, used to make the Crappy Craftsman CP3 stuff for sears. My money on impacts is with TTI.
@@WorkshopAddict No. Craftsman C3 tools were from TTI.
They had a LOT of tools that had the SAME part number as Ryobi and Ridgid, and I could even repair few Ryobi tools from Craftsman C3 parts.
Search for Craftsman C3 and you will see a LOT of tools that highly resemble Ryobi tools.
(For example, this is C3 impact wrench that you are bashing www.amazon.com/Craftsman-19-2-Heavy-Impact-Wrench/dp/B00O4CYPU6 )
And Kobalt 24V tools are from Chevron, which makes EGO, Skil, etc.
Also craftsman C3 tools are litteraly immortal
When are we getting this Australia?
You think this can loosen an Axle nut? I'm completely novice when it comes to this stuff.
Got mine today.
Lol I use a siscor jack with a nut on the end and pick the hole front end of my truck up with the ryobi 1/2 in impact and a 3ah battery
Do the new batteries have the extra contacts on the back of the battery?
yes, and this tool uses them. Check our TH-cam stories for a close look at them.
