If you use a deep socket, the extra weight of the socket will make lugnut come off easier. I have the older Ryobi model p261 225 ft lbs fastening and 300 ft lbs breakaway is enough for my hone auto needs. Cheers!

Im a VW dealer tech, been using this impact daily for over 2 years. Only failure was the LED lights in front but that is due to me abusing it and throwing it around in my cart. Performs and just as reliable as the "professional" high dollar impacts if not lasts longer. You cant beat it at this price point. For the $160 i paid for the tool, Id buy this again when it does breakdown

Home Depot has this model on sale right now for only $199 with a battery, charger and a deep socket wrench set. If I had this last week in my car, it would of saved me over an hour of being on the side of the road with a lug nut that refused to come loose. I`ll be buying mine before the year is up.

This is the 1st and only time I've seen Ryobi's newest 1/2" impact wrench tested. It's not hard to find Ryobi's old, brushed motor, lower/midrange torque 1/2" impacts test against tools that easily outclass them. I have zero brand loyalty but I do have a lot of Ryobi battery power tools and Ryobi batteries to go with them, a charger at home and work.
I certainly wouldn't want you to come out of pocket $4,000 to test all these high class impact brands just to give the Ryobi a fair shake.
It's probably just-a-tick below the BigBoyz for 1/2 the price. Typical for the Ryobi line. What doesn't impress me about some of the other channels out there is lack of honest comparison. If these other channels that have better sponsorship than you can get, aren't going compare old brushed motor designs with the new brushless design of same brand so that we can see how much better their new brushless designs are.
Just finished watching a video that was 9 months old that still tested the brushed Ryobi impact gun against competition when this more comparable model has been out for over a year, and they totally left it alone. That alone is enough to drive me back to Ryobi.

Yes, you can use your 4ah batteries. I’ve used them in the past to rotate tires on my vehicle. If you’re going to be trying to loosen larger heavier torqued bolts, then the 6ah HP is a must.

Down voted. You didn't even put the lug nuts on. What's the point if you're not going to put lug nuts on.

Sorry to hear that. I don’t like installing lugs with an impact wrench. I prefer to install them by hand so they don’t get cross threaded.

@@DeanoOutDoors I can't fault that, though I do it after about 5 rotations, then only at low speed. Especially since I want them hand tight until I set car on ground.
Then Ryobi is spec for about 150 ft-lb tightening but at best won't get anywhere near there (i got 80 ft-lb with a new 3 Ah battery). But turn wise, close enough to finish with torque wrench.

What was the lugs torqued to?

I torqued them down to 80ft lb. Before this test.
