    At the 3:34 mark, running back and forth over the crossing WITHOUT clearing it gets the motorists all riled up. These guys did it once. But doing this more than once can put the engr in a bad spot. Advice to engr...when going back through the crossing, don't look at the traffic...just look straight ahead...lol

    Compared to any other railroad I know of, Norfolk Southern seems to do this "long hood" style of operating the most often. I wonder why that is, though?

    Good catch! I remember when Southern Railway and L&N ran some locos long hood forward. Thumbs up!;

    Nice. I have my own opinion on LHF. High hoods look great either way. Safety cab units like GEVOs should be run short hood forward, while older conventional cab EMDs can be run LHF, but running them SHF is not bad either. As for conventional cab GEs, depends on how big the radiators are. The larger they are, the better they are SHF.
    Edit: changed theory to opinion.

      So, what's your theory?

      Isn't much of a theory as it is my opinion.

    We just recently saw a High Hood unit leading some other units (we think they were GP38-2's) Great video too!

    I was in Camden New Jersey a few weeks ago and saw a NS high hood switching a customer.

    Curious, what was he carrying, it looked like trash/and/or rocks? Nice capture!

      They were switching a scrap yard. As they're coming away, you can see the first carload is loose scrap steel, second car is turnings from a machine shop, third car is compressed bales.

    I'm not quite sure when those tracks were removed but I think it was around 1977 or '78. I was originally from the Pleasant Lake area and I know that's about the time they removed the tracks of the Grand Trunk Western that ran through Stockbridge and beyond.

    Great video! Do you know if the train ever runs past M-50 and the lumber yard? I know the tracks just go a little ways south of M-50 now. I can remember pulling up the yellow & black railroad crossing signs on that line in the late 1970's when I worked for the Jackson County Road Commission in the Clark Lake area.
