    Got a bit eggcited in the video and called the grapefuit a melon once or twice, was getting confused with a honeydew one that I actually quite like having often, but, mayyyybe i'll try some more grapefruit after this! If you enjoyed the video, don't forget to subscribe and check out the other kitchen gadget testing videos on this playlist, you will need the popcorn for sure! (microwaved optional!)

    Movie theaters charge a massive markup on popcorn and other concessions since they make a very small portion of the ticket price.
    EDIT: My favorite popcorn popper is a silicone bowl with a very loose fitting silicone cover that rises with the kernels as they pop.

    Coddled eggs are actually very common, as 90% of the so called egg "poachers" u see are actually making a coddled egg. Poached egg done properly should be held together in the water where as a coddled egg is held in a cup. Making and egg poaching pan with 4 cups over boiling water like you see in a lot of shops actually "coddled" and not poached.

    Welcome to "old gadgets re-discovered". My grandfather had egg coddlers and a grapefruit knife a large ravioli press and a faucet airator (to reduce chlorine in the water) when I was small, my parents had them, and I bought my own grapefruit knife and coddlers when I moved out. They were unusual enough that I remember that most of my friends didnt know what they were when I was a kid, but they were standard for us. My Grandfather was born in 1901.

But the fun part of these videos is that they also show quality and function. He's not saying they are all brand new innovations.

    I've had a swiveling tap my whole life thanks to my mum, she had one when I was a kid and I got one because of that when I moved into my own place, the kind we have always had are fully metal and actually replacements for the tap because (not sure how many places have this) our faucets have always had a removable head for the sake of replacing it with other types (not the whole faucet of course, just a small bit right at the tip) the kind we got also had the ability to switch between the shower style multiple holes and the single stream (and we lose no water pressure and on some sinks even increase the presure)

    We had grapefruit knives like that in the mid-1950's; sprinkle with sugar and serve with a maraschino cherry in the centre hole.
    Coddled eggs were my grandma's fav; she put an egg in a pan in the sink, then covered it with boiling water. When the water was cool enough to handle the egg, it was done. She would make the rest of breakfast while it cooked.
    P.S. I'm 71.

It belonged to my late mother in law, workes really well and is circa late 1960's 😉 You do need to adjust times depending on egg size, but my beloved adores it, other than he would eat 4 or 5 coddled eggs at a time if i had more coddlers! 🤣

    So with the tap spray gadget
    Its trying to simulate the washing up hose I use at work but having used a proper one I can see alot of issues
    1. the pressure as you pointed out is lower making it kinda useless
    2. Using it to clean the sink, Nothing a wet sponge or even just cheap cloth can't do (that said if you aren't able to be hunched over a sink scrubbing it would be kinda helpful)
    3. combines both of the previous issues, How much water its using, Can it wash up a plate and the sink with less water then just filling the bowl, Or even half filling the bowl, After all a cloth dabbed on the tap after the main washing is done and the tap is dripping can give a good sink clean
    Again if your physically incapable it could hold use
    But then it might even be hard to set up due to the screw on band
    Maybe if you had a higher pressure tap it could also help but unless your really hurting for money or space
    a small dishwasher would work

    • @Pythonaria
      @Pythonaria 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I thought it would be more useful for washing fruit and veg. I washed some blueberries last week and had to keep moving the berries round with my hand. I have a sieve that can span the width of my sink (it has extending handles). I think this gadget would be good for that but would be no good for the design of my kitchen tap unfortunately.

    • @pennyhero7873
      @pennyhero7873 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@Pythonaria Now that is a good idea
      I was looking at it from its marketed use
      But changing the use makes it vastly better
      lower pressure is less likely to damage fruit
      and the angling make it way easier

    • @Pythonaria
      @Pythonaria 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    Barry, you were asking why you would have to have thin bread and not use sandwich thins, I believe that it is because the thins come with small perforated holes in the face and if you put a sauce in, it could be squeezed through the holes potentially making a mess on everything it touches. Also with the slicer it can be used to cut mushrooms or sprouts ( when precooked) , pre skinned tomatoes and even hot dogs to top a pizza.

    Re egg slicer... I have the normal cheap version but don't use it for eggs. I have a food dehydrator to make food for backpacking... and the dehydration works best if the items are all sliced to the same thickness and the egg slicer works very well for button mushrooms.

    I have a popcorn kitchen hack for you Barry! Put 1/4 cup popcorn kernels, 1-2 tsp oil in a normal paper lunch bag and shake it up. Microwave it for around 2 minutes or until it stops popping. This is how I've been making popcorn for years!

    Get a ramekin. Spray pam cooking spray, or rub melted butter, or olive oil along the inside to coat it. Crack egg and add. Put ramekin in and steam in a pan with lid in about a cup (or two) of water. Time if water is already boiling is 3 to 5 minutes. If not boiling, around 8 minutes. Carefully remove the ramekin out of the pan. Turn over on plate. Enjoy.

    My ex got addicted to popcorn, so I bought him that microwave popcorn maker you like and some bags of popcorn. He literally burned out my microwave from using it too much, but the glass thing is fine. (I had to get a new microwave.)

    You're too young to remember Stu Francis, who's catchphrase was Ooo I could crush a grape!! Did the grapes shout when you tried to chop them or did they just give out a little whine (wine)??!!

    So U know, popcorn kernels that haven't worked can be reused in microwave. They are not as successful on stove I've found but in microwave, they will still pop if tried again. I normally put a small amount into a brown paper bag and fold bag a couple of times at top to stop it opening easily before placing on side in microwave. I then listen for when the popping drops to just a couple at a time and then stop. Any that didn't pop, I put to the side to try again.

    that faucet attachment nozzle would be good if you don't have a spray hose. we used to have one of those nozzles on the end of a hose to spray the sink but our current sink doesn't have one and i do miss it

    Ketchup in a toasty? Come on Barry, cherry tomatoes would be 100 times better. Even nothing would be better than all that ketchup lol.

    I love your videos but I don't share your enthusiasm for Joseph Joseph. Also a brown paper lunch bag will hold microwave popcorn 😆

    Are separate sink sprayer outer thingies not a thing in the UK? Growing up, we had not only the standard sink sprayer, but a 3rd outlet on the sink that was a water spout that had a giant filter underneath because we had hard af well water that literally stopped soap from bubbling…
    Now I just have a sink sprayer, but wish we could add a water filter to put apartment sink.

    forget that faucet nozzle. i have a metal nozzle attachment that can easily pivot and swivel and change between normal and drizzle/shower. best sink thing i bought on amazon.
